Correct advise on getting the corners rounded off. It will definitely transfer marks to the eye.
One more little thing about the structure to hammer making tongs.
The boss area needs to be about 2-1/4" behind the first bend in the jaws .
This allows a larger range of holding capabilities.
Nothing can be done with these to correct that now.
But you did an awesome job on these.
There is an easier way to get the jaws perfectly even as well.
After forging the rein and jaws straight. Punch or drill the rivet hole. Then put a bolt and nut through the hole..clamp the pair in a vise, and heat and bend the pair of jaws at the same time. That will get them perfectly aligned.
Then put the curl on the ends and rivet them.

Thanks for the advice I’ve never made tongs like this before and I just tried to eyeball it off or a few pictures but I agree they could definitely be a bit wider but I’ll fix that on the next pair and Ill definitely try using a nut and bolt the next time I make tongs.

Nice job, just a quick critique, if you are planning on using these to hold hammers then I would take a grinder or forge the corners away because those sharp corners will dig in to the hammer eye when it's hot

That was a great job, not your first set of tongs, I would say. Good going.... did you study with someone or are you self taught? Thank You for making this video and sharing your skills....

Nice work Paul! Can you give the dimensions of the stock, set down measurements, and the grade of steel you are using in upcoming videos please? Going to college this fall, or? Thanks, Jerry

There were some things you omitted to do, Daniel Lee's tutorial is not a bad example of how to make these tongs - see ruclips.net/video/IbBrU9yoWkc/видео.html
