he has tremendous upside and athletic ability and unlike those other guys he has great size. dont be fooled by his one year at ucla were he played the 2 spot, hes a natural point guard and a great defender
@gtasaownage that "horrible jump shot" is the second best 3 percentage among all rookies behind only the great stephen curry. at first when philly drafted him i thought the same thing, "oh great, another guard who cant shoot worth shit" but i gotta admit this kids jumper is getting crazy good and hes gonna be a star in the league in a couple of years.
If we don't get Ricky at 4 or can trade up, I have no problem with trading down and picking up Holiday. He seems like a hard worker, from what I have seen in his game he is a good defender and ball handler. He just needs to improve his offense a little more. His size and speed though is a plus.
The other way around. Holiday shut Jennings down several times in AAU. DeRozan in high schoola nd AAU as well. Jennings has alot to learn. Holiday is a sound player. He is known for his defense. That is one reason why Howland recruited him at UCLA. Jerry Meyer at Rivalsdotcom stated that Holiday was the best perimeter defender at the high school level in the last decade. I agree. Saw him lock up several national prospects and played a versatile game as well. Remember this is a workout.
now everyone went to campbell but yet, no one knows who robert ford or austin mcbroom is. if you really went there, you'd realize they started at pg during jrue's time there. he was a shooting guard who was used as a playmaker.
I wish we got Rubio. Besides Mills. Best PG in the draft. People don't like this guy because Brandon Jennings said so. Jennings couldn't make it in Europe, he played garbage minutes. Wherever Rubio signs. I can assure youo they will make playoffs because this guy is a natural talent. He will school this LeBron Joke anyday
40 inch verticals do not mean squat if you do not know how to use it right. Ton of great athletes in the League that do not do anything but sit on the bench. Jrue can be a leader and follower if need be. Alot of player have problems following others due to their egos. Jrue does not have this problem. He was a 5 star prospect and All American coming into UCLA for a reason. He can play. Simple as that. Seen Evans as nearly as much as Holiday since sophomore year. Creates shots well (cont)
This is the secnd time I am watching this video and I am not swayed from my view that he needs to go back to college. I can see why people like him though, he is huge but I find him slow. maybe he could be a Billups in the making.
robert ford started at the point jrue's first 3 years. austin mcbroom started at point jrue's sr. year. i'll say it again, he has NEVER been a pg. there's a reason he was ranked as a sg by most scouting services.
Evans I could see if he plays within the team. Curry? 1 dimensional shooter. A better version of his father. Jrue is an excellent defender, rebounder and finisher. You do not have to play point guard to be a playmaker. Need to be able to create which Jrue did consistently for years off his own dribble. Was Campbell Halls playmaker. Saw him at Arco at the State championships and numerous times in AAU. Kid can play. Outside shooting is his main weakness. Finishes well around the basket.
You could not be further from the truth. Jrue was not unproductive. Played sound defense the entire year. Rebounded solid for his position. Finished sound. Did not make many mistakes. Shooting was average from the perimeter but played well within 18 feet. Played in a subpar team offense that emphasized shot clock usage. Howland is not a offensive coach. His talent was limited due to the system.
no i know exactly who both of them are and robert ford played shooting gaurd for a while because the coach terry gave jrue a chance to play point since robert didnt want a future in sports did u know that
I think Jrue just needs to be let loose and learn from his mistakes for a bit. With more minutes and some growing pains, he can be a solid point guard, a bit like Russell Westbrook.
So put Jennings out shooting guard and watch him get man handled down low. Let him play point within an actual system. Not free style pick up ball. He has stuggled consistently in structured settings for years. At Oak Hill he was allowed to do whatever he wanted. In the McDonald's All American game he played well playing his game. When he played in a half court structure in the 2nd half he had 6 turnovers. Kid could be Telfiar. Keep in mind Telfair was a bette high school player.
Telfair was bigger, stronger and just as quick and fast. Similiar style. Jennings shoots slightly better but is streaky. Lottery pick as well. Ranked number 1 in his class from 5th grade to his junior year after Dwight Howard took the title. Jennings 1# ranking was a joke. ESPNs recruiting service is 2nd rate. Rivals and Scout, HoopScoop, PrepStars and Bob Gibbons are all more accurate.
@exorcism121 basketball is just the kind of sport where you're not gonna look good unless you're winning. everyone who is better than you makes you look bad.
holiday doesnt have much man to man defense and his transition isnt wow'ing anyone even if he is young.we need someone whos aggressive not another laid back player that doesnt care if the won or lost.
Just about every shot going off the dribble going to his left is way off. Otherwise he looks strong. Can't wait to see him and the rest in summer leagues.
wrong holiday was n't the pg at cambell hall. austin mcbroom was and i forgot who was before him. also, brandon jennings was the number pg in the country. and no he's nowhere near a baron davis level athlete. btw baron can be a good defender when he wants to. just because jrue plays hard defense doesn't make him a great defender. he puts forth the effort but still gets flamed. did you even watch him play at campbell hall or did you just see a few youtube clips and read scouting reports ?
Sorry no. Holiday outplayed Jennings numerous times in high shcol. Jennings is flashier with a more range on a streaky shot than Holiday. That is it. Bigger, stronger, more all around game, better defender and leadership skills than Jennings.
if jrue is so good, how come he was so unproductive in college? And dont tell me he was playing out of position, he should be able to adjust if he deserves to be a lottery pick
Outplayed by Rose. Outplayed by Mayo 3 times. Outplayed by Holiday for years. Jennings is talented but I have seen him since his sophomore year. Kid is arrogant and frankly overestimates himself. Nothing like Iverson in terms of talent. Is an NBA player but I would not wan him to run a team without a higher basketball I.Q. Cant wing every game. Moments but not whole games.
why do these guys seem winded their so young at that age I could play full court up and down easy. Yeah their bigger than me but they've been playing ball since junior high or high school practicing all the time too should be like second nature to them.
Hope so. Jennings was not a true point guard in college. Had no position. Was a talent. Had no real knowledge of the game. All talent. Struggled running half court offenses and could not guard anyone. Struggled in Europe. I like Holiday more and frankly despite being a 5 star prospect was underrated due to his non flashy game. Impacts the game inmore ways than Jennings.
Advanced dribble game. Inconsistent shooting. Can he defend? Will he defend? Great arm length. Good quickness. Not a great athlete by your standards either. Jrue jumps higher and is stronger broadly than he is.
@bbender1986 hahaha....good one. So by calling me a "city rat" are you insinuating that you are a Farm Boy Hick? If so, then that would explain your top notch use of vernacular.
what if curry blows out his knee in a career ending moment? and never plays in the nba? then jj reddick will be better.. and i believe i just prove your statement wrong... what the hell does being a straight g have anything to do with you ability to play the point guard position... ugh.. like whoever you want to like, but curry is too much of a gamble... tyreke has a better chance.. but.. also undersized.. and light.
He'll be an all star in a few years
You called it
You called it
Wow
Imagine what our other comments will look like 11 years from now.
he has tremendous upside and athletic ability and unlike those other guys he has great size. dont be fooled by his one year at ucla were he played the 2 spot, hes a natural point guard and a great defender
This is crazy. Jrue went to my school in 6th grade. We used to play together and now he's playing for the Kings. Crazy!!
he played point in high school
Jrue was terrific in the Sixers/Heat series...hes gonna be a vet for a long long time, kind of like andre miller
Mayo did fine. 20 a game. All Pac 10. True about Jrue. Howland is a defensive minded coach. His offensive system has been questioned for years.
Philly we out cheaa lets go Jrue
Sacramento Kings. We should get Jrue Holiday or another good POINT GUARD with the 4th Pick In The Draft.
good thing we got tyreke.
good looking prospect lets see how he does for the 76ers
If we don't get Ricky at 4 or can trade up, I have no problem with trading down and picking up Holiday.

Jrue holiday
Reke was born in Philly raised in Chester
its called banking the shot in, (when you knock the ball off the glass and it goes in), a shot used frequently by players like Wade and Duncan
He will school this LeBron Joke anyday
maybe jrue played point during AAU in high school
Jrue is either the best or worst first name I've ever heard. Can't decide.
40 inch verticals do not mean squat if you do not know how to use it right. Ton of great athletes in the League that do not do anything but sit on the bench. Jrue can be a leader and follower if need be. Alot of player have problems following others due to their egos. Jrue does not have this problem. Interesting
because austin mcbroom was in the picture derrrrrrr
Brandon Jennings
robert ford started at the point jrue's first 3 years. austin mcbroom started at point jrue's sr. year. i'll say it again, he has NEVER been a pg. there's a reason he was ranked as a sg by most scouting services.
jennings and holiday are eating rubio now.
@XxxKing92 no i think Jonny Flynn was.
Jrue didn't get a chance to showcase his talents because Collison opted to say in college. OJ Mayo wasn't exactly productive at USC either.
Really based on what? You are watching a moderate intensity workout. Kid has proven himself for years since middle school.
His talent was limited due to the system.
no i know exactly who both of them are and robert ford played shooting gaurd for a while because the coach terry gave jrue a chance to play point since robert didnt want a future in sports did u know that
no. he hit the backboard
I think Jrue just needs to be let loose and learn from his mistakes for a bit. With more minutes and some growing pains, he can be a solid point guard, a bit like Russell Westbrook.
Sorry. Mayo outplayed Jennings 4 times(05 ABCD camp. 06 high school season. 06 ABCD camp. 06 Rose City Invitational).
@dixie11 hes underrated
So put Jennings out shooting guard and watch him get man handled down low. Let him play point within an actual system. Not free style pick up ball. ur wrong he played point gaurd in high school and he dominated then
Telfair was bigger, stronger and just as quick and fast. Similiar style. Jennings shoots slightly better but is streaky. Lottery pick as well. ok even if that were the case, (which it wasn't) why wasn't holiday the pg his senior year ?
@exorcism121 basketball is just the kind of sport where you're not gonna look good unless you're winning. everyone who is better than you makes you look bad.
holiday doesnt have much man to man defense and his transition isnt wow'ing anyone even if he is young.we need someone whos aggressive not another laid back player that doesnt care if the won or lost.
once again ur wrong i went to high school with him and saw every game he is a point gaurd
Just about every shot going off the dribble going to his left is way off. Otherwise he looks strong. Can't wait to see him and the rest in summer leagues.
Whats the Name of that White Big guy?
John Bryant or not?
Thanks;)
Am I the only comment that's new
its funny how u said he'll school this lebron joke anyday but its 2013 and that has never happened
who's the guy in the hat at 3.07.?
I wonder how him and evan turner will play together on Philly. I havnt really seen Jrue play so idk what kind of player he is
Not really... The game is 8 minutes shorter=>less playing time, the floor is smaller=>better defense(more floor is covered)...
WTF Why did the Kings pull down the James Harden workout they had up last night?
holiday is ok but i still think jenning will murder him in a game. kings pick brandon jennings forget jrue holiday.
there all rookie's being scouted for the NBA Draft back in june
wrong holiday was n't the pg at cambell hall. austin mcbroom was and i forgot who was before him. also, brandon jennings was the number pg in the country. and no he's nowhere near a baron davis level athlete. btw baron can be a good defender when he wants to. just because jrue plays hard defense doesn't make him a great defender. he puts forth the effort but still gets flamed. did you even watch him play at campbell hall or did you just see a few youtube clips and read scouting reports ?

yeah... atleast he didnt give up on the play and forced a tough shot and he missed.
look at the shot at 1:58 LOL WTF
he's not a pg. he has NEVER PLAYED PG IN HIS LIFE !!! he's an undersized 2g
None of these guys are good enough to make it to an NBA floor except maybe Jrue. He probably won't be getting very many minutes either.
Interesting
why do these guys seem winded their so young at that age I could play full court up and down easy. Yeah their bigger than me but they've been playing ball since junior high or high school practicing all the time too should be like second nature to them.
I mean the 76ers lol
wtf?
maksimgus no matter what curry is gonna be better than jj reddick so that already makes him not a bust and evans is a straight g.
Hope so. Jennings was not a true point guard in college. Had no position. Was a talent. Had no real knowledge of the game. All talent. If you watch Jennings then watch this guy you would feel cheated if your team took him when Jennings is sill available.
is it me or does he look alot thicker?
im not a lebron fan
but your taking this to far Lebron is bigger, faster, stronger than Rubio
Bron will beat Rubio anyday
not anymore lol
sacramento loosers !!! we got jrue....let's go sixers
@bbender1986 hahaha....good one. So by calling me a "city rat" are you insinuating that you are a Farm Boy Hick? If so, then that would explain your top notch use of vernacular.
@bbender1986 Like spelling? Oh wait.......maybe not.
what if curry blows out his knee in a career ending moment? and never plays in the nba? then jj reddick will be better.. and i believe i just prove your statement wrong... what the hell does being a straight g have anything to do with you ability to play the point guard position... ugh.. like whoever you want to like, but curry is too much of a gamble... tyreke has a better chance.. but.. also undersized.. and light.
he's not a natural pg. he's never played the position. ever. not in aau or high school. how can he be a "natural pg" ?
he missed one ... cant be a shooter :D:D
@exorcism121 u clearly dont watch too much nba seeing as jrue isnt even on this team
both curry and evans will be busts... =]
kings fan
