I agree that our goaltending needs to be above the stale level it was in Game 1...but Game 2 was much better.
I'll also remind you that Felix Potvin, Toronto's goaltender, had to face two 6-goal games vs. Detroit in '93 before he got into form and became the stud that took the Leafs all the way to a Game 7 in the semifinals against Gretzky and the Kings...which we would have won if the ref, Fraser, had been doing his job properly re: the Gretzky high stick.

Exactly. The Leafs are top heavy to begin with, then the core doesn't show up in the playoffs. Can you say recipe for disaster?
The thing that amazes me is everybody I've seen is talking about "Well last year the Leafs lost game 1 to the Lightning and they came back and won." Yeah they did, they also proved they could beat Tampa by beating them 2 out of the 4 times they played them during the regular season. You know how many times they beat Boston during the regular season this year? 0. 0 times out of 4. So if you include Game 1 the Bruins are 5 and 0 this year and that's before you get into the whole Leafs goal tending situation.
It's Sammy and Woll vs Ullmark and Swayman, arguabley one of the best goalie tandems in the league. I know who I'm taking in that situation and it's not the Leafs. That being said I don't necessarily think it's a sweep at the moment, but again Boston are undefeated against Toronto this year. If Boston win Game 2, the team that couldn't even win 1 of 4 in the regular season now has to win 4 of 5. I don't think that happens.

The organization isn't run by the CPP anymore - the telecomms want to win. They spend all sorts of money to try and put them over the top. They try to hire the best in class. THey are doing everything they can to win. Can't blame the owners anymore.

They sucked on Saturday. They looked lost out there on the ice, they looked nervous, they looked tired. Hopefully they’re able to turn things around starting tonight in game 2.
I thought the same they looked scared nervous especially with the puck.
People said the exact same thing after game 1 against Tampa last year.

who cares who is let go they will still suck as long as fans keep showing up to the games and buying merchandise. The Leafs have been cleaning house and "rebuilding" for the last 57 years and they still $uck. The problem with the Leafs is the owners see them as an investment to make money not as a hockey team to win Stanley Cups. At least Harold Ballard was honest when he said why should he care about putting a winning team on the ice when people will still show to the games. If fans stop showing up and stop buying Leaf garbage then owners may have more incentive to put a winning team on the ice. Until then they will never win a Cup.

You don't come out like the toughest team in the NHL when you didn't swat a fly all season. When I saw that, I thought there were going to be plenty of penalties. That game was lost before 10 minutes of play.
Anyone who watched their final games should've known they'd choke. They weren't in playoff-ready headspace at all; their only focus was about getting 34 to 70.
That final game had some pathetic closing images: Tavares looked sad when he scored. Keefe whispered words of consolation in 34's ear. He's got how many bills to dry his tears with? Not that there was much doubt they'd lose the series because they're worse on paper than last year, but game 84 erased any doubts. Too bad they can't hang a 69 goals banner.
Look as a canuck fan i think the leafs played a pretty good game but nothing went right for them. if they scored first it could have been different. boston won is all leaf nation sees, i get it.

I wore Bruins jersey to the Buffalo Bills stadium, where they whooped the Patriots, but in the playoffs and I didn’t take that jersey off. I thought it was where I was going, but I wore my vehicle and drove home.
Leafs Core 4 have never been a Stanley Cup Playoff Contender. Even Maroon outplayed and out performed- both Reaves and or Matthews. Toronto fans at least get a measure of regular season success and Marner enjoys his spring golf. 😀
Tavares, Nylander, and Marner are overpaid. Matthews is the only truly good player on the team...but he can't do everything by himself.

The Leafs opening game was the least competitive of all the the series played so far. Game 3 it's wear a paper bag on your head time.

Can you imagine if the score was flipped and the Breakfast TV Crew in Boston would have said the same? This is pure entertainment, win or lose, it has no effect on me. I would like to see the Leafs go deep as the amount of $$$ that comes into the city is important.
The core 4 are awesome individual players , but time and time again they fail to deliver when the playoff pressure is on. Leafs management need to a Demar Derozan type of move and shake it up.

As a Bruins fan forever I am anticipating a tremendous Leafs push back Monday night. Leafs from Saturday cannot play any worse. This was Un flushed Toilet Bowl Hockey. The flush is knocking at the door tonight. Bruins have a trend of coming up flat after a game they score 4+ goals the previous game. I know my Bruins. Know them well. GO BRUINS!
casual Bruins fan here (I kinda pay attention until they get to a playoffs). I agree, this Bruins team isn't exactly the model of consistency. I do think they are playing better hockey than they were maybe a month ago, and will likely win this series, but tonight Toronto's going to be a different team than on Saturday.

Leaf's sucked what else is to be expected? They are a regular season team. As soon as playoffs start it's like the Leafs digress. Wearing the Leafs jersey used to be held in high regard. This team for so long has made the jersey into an embarrassment 👍

Leafs won 18 playoff games vs the bruins 22 since 2013. That aren't lights out stats. And before that they just didn't meet that often. Those "since 19..." stats are fun for mocking the fans but really don't mean a lot. Leafs fans could start asking how many cups other teams won. Which also means nothing. Today is today. And since they last met in the playoffs almost their entire teams changed. Leafs had better forward depth in 2019 but WAY worse goaltending and D. That's changed despite leafs media hating their own goalie for whatever reason. If Nylander returns Leafs are gonna win tonight.

A Sid what about your Montreal has beens the habs technically only won one cup if you think about it. When it comes to winning 4 teams and 16 games they only won one. Pittsburgh won 5 Stanley cups making it the most in the NHL. Montreal only could win in the 1970s when it was only 3 teams too win it , can you count that high sid. 😂😂😂😂😂

This Leafs team has done nothing right in the post season for 7 years now! Oh ya last year they won one round but then got bombed in second. To tell you the truth the problems start at the top! Look at what Shanahan did to Kyle Dubas last year. There is so much division in the way this whole organization has been put together. To sit in the President's Office and not see your team is missing everything a Stanley Cup contender requires is absurd. One point is the goaltending... okay Sammy can be alright at times but he will NEVER i mean NEVER win this team a game on his own merits. Then there is the fabulous 4 ... these guys need to prove they are worth all the chicklets they are getting paid a season! If you ask me they are not worth anything close to what they are getting compensated! I dont care if one makes 70 goals a season... thats wonderful! Show up for the playoffs and stop floating around waiting for a perfect pass in the slot! That is the makeup of this team ... a bunch of floaters! Why doesn’t anyone talk about the truth here ever since Gary bettman became commissioner not one Canadian team has won a cup and as long as he’s commissioner not one Canadian team will ever win the Stanley Cup. He said he was going to bring the hockey market into the states and he has. How many states get a new team like Salt Lake City now but yet Quebec Nordics can’t get one again because Gary doesn’t get along with the owner there…It’s not hockey anymore it’s turn into a business.
