    • @Imperial_Squid

      Also love this idea! And that it's a seemingly taboo thing to do on a whim. Plus that (I think) the O5 was the only person to comment on it so maybe low level staff aren't even aware when it happens...

    • @Imperial_Squid
      @Imperial_Squid Год назад +42

      @@powarless_kinda,_ I did a little skimming as I'm not super familiar and the consensus seems to be that it's a trick question to get people to reveal if they're under the affect of a am-/nestic agent. To normal non foundation folk it's a bizarre question so you'll get a "what?" or similar as the response, but if you're in the foundation/under the affects of am-/nestic agents, you'll get some kind of prophetic prose answer...
      But no, the ability to actually analyse the response given and divine meaning from it is wholely new in this article I think
      There are however a tonne of articles that feature the black moon in some way if you do a little searching

      @@JanusKastin It does, but it depends on the rules of who's asking. One of the very few SCP entries that has a straight up good ending. With the ethics Committee of all departments bringing it… While in other SCP entries they are either intentionally irrelevant to the rest of the foundation or basically a joke. I especially loved the “black moon” story mechanic so to speak.

    • @Imperial_Squid
      @Imperial_Squid Год назад +44

      Yeah the black moon aspect was really interesting! It's like an investigative debug mode to figure out what's going on in a person's head!
      Also interesting that it seems to be really taboo to use improperly, and that maybe some people aren't aware of it (the O5 was the only person to comment on it I think) so maybe low level staff won't even remember you asking?
      I'd be really interested to have some kind of espionage story at the foundation with this mechanic in it!

    • @mariecarie1
      @mariecarie1 Год назад +17

      Me too! It might be interesting to make that SCP a sort of continuation of this one.
      Perhaps someone else is investigating Dr. Mallory who, despite the brush with O5-10, has been throwing around the “black moon” phrase on people. Maybe it turns out she’s been forced to cover up some more corrupt O5 shenanigans as her debt to O5-10 (this could be a new SCP, or an action/inaction that lead to a new SCP) and Mallory’s trying to find out what others know about it. Or something like that. I know there’s not much continuity in SCP universe, but something like that might be cool.
      Or maybe an SCP is growing and no one can discover the cause, but they deduce it’s related to people like Mallory using the “black moon” phrase too carelessly, not realizing that by using the phrase, they’re invoking some old curse or fae magic. Or even wilder, it’s somehow tied to a Pattern Screamer trying to rip into our dimension with that phrase.
      Sorry, got a bit excited there. But yeah, I feel like looking more into the “black moon” phrase could be really interesting.

If the Ethics Committee says they can't do something, even if all 13 O5s say they want to, they have no choice, they just have to come up with something else.

They both are equal opposites of one another. The possible outcome would be that both will be having an intense fight and argument but if the Ethics committee gets unlucky and have to do a physical fight then we all know the O5 council will win thanks to their anomalous powers. In authority they can’t do much against each other and they both can basically classify each file for their own group, though it is very rare to do so. It is an interesting concept of having the Ethics Committee, O5 Council, and Administrator on equal levels.

    • @eclipseplays5151
      @eclipseplays5151 Год назад +7

      The Administrator is not on equal level, he is beyond their level. He must have been allowed to the file since he is the only one who cannot be question or be interrogated by either an O5 or Ethics committee member, not to mention, that if the ethics committee do want to terminate an O5 member or if the O5 council want to terminate an ethics committee member, these both groups have to take direct permission from the Administrator. Both of them serve under the Administrator.

    Edit: after listening again, this has some really clever writing and I love the term esoteric super-meth. Very cozy and interesting SCP. I loved it, brqvo! 10/10

I think I finished the SCP catalogue you've made. Whatever you keep doing in the future, keep on trucking. We want more SCP over here, and those audiobooks you've done are cool too. I've shown colleagues and friends your vids. Love your work,

    I did enjoy This one a great deal. All too often the Ethics Committee is portrayed as a weak voice that's ignored, or s some kind of twisted joke. What is interesting is how prevalent the phrase 'Does the Black Moon Howl?' is becoming, though could this be a case of content producer bias? Regardless, what was a simple password phrase appears to be evolving into something much more complex and intertwined with the Foundation!

    I really liked this one! When I saw the title, I was afraid it was going to be one of those "Ooo, what if the ETHICS COMMITTEE was EVIL" stories. I really don't like those; it's like the people who insist on making stories off the premise "What if SUPERMAN = BAD," we already KNOW what would happen. The main Foundation is already screwed up enough, there's nothing an evil Ethics Committee is going to contribute to the field that the regular Foundation couldn't, except perhaps bleak utilitarianist "Akshully Moralism is Bad" messages, because we needed those apparently.
