Been looking at getting a good dashcam for my new vehicle. Thanks for the detailed & comprehensive review. So far I like the VIOFO A139 Pro. Subscribed.
hey, nicely done. Quick question did anyone tried to connect the av out to the cars Radio/headunit? Is it possible to see the video from the rear in my 9” screen? Best
Really great review. I was looking for something that's more of a setup guide. I already have a hardwire in place with my old dash cam with a 2 amp fuse. I was wondering if the 2 amp will be ok to use with this front and rear dash cam?
Nice.. waiting for the next one reviewing the parking mode. Looking forward to see if it records all 3 cameras in the parking mode and if it includes buffered parking mode too. Thanks.
I noticed you positioned the rear facing cam with one of the heating elements in front of the lens. I have a heated front screen, there are many more elements and no obvious place to position the front facing cam, where it would not be affected. Do you have any footage of how a front windscreen heating element looks on the forward facing camera?
Been considering this over the Thinkware U1000, but I couldn't help but notice that it had that same exact startup chime as all of the other terrible Amazon dashcams. Makes me question its reliability. How would you compare it to the U1000?
What is connection type of the cable that goes into cigarette power adapter? Can the cable be removed/separated from the provided cigarette adapter or is it uniform?
Hello, I bought the camera, but my smartphone cannot find the camera's WiFi network - it once appeared for a few seconds, then never again. A replacement camera has exactly the same error - smartphone recognizes other networks without any problems, my neighbor can't find a Viofo network on his phone either - does anyone know the problem?
Question on the parking mode, I have a battery bank connected to my current dash cam, and when I stop driving, the parking mode kicks in automatically. I'ts not connected to my car battery or ignition. It uses sensors to detect the car is not moving. While this model do the same?
Depending on who makes the dashcam, the way parking mode operate will differ. It sounds like the one you have is Blackvue which uses GPS, and motion sensor to activate/deactivate the parking mode. With this VIOFO, parking mode is triggered with ignition on or off.
Can I please ask, how is that unit powered when not connected to the car. When you first unboxed and connected all the cameras together, it didn't appear to be in the car. Even so, the audio and functions of the unit worked Was the unit connected to the car battery at the time? Or was it already fully powered when you opened the box?
When I film the product review, I connect the dashcam to a 12v power supply that I have in the room. This way I can test it and demonstrate all the features without trying to film it in the car.
Hi today i installed my viofo dashcam with the hardwired kit that is comming with 3 cables (Red "power", Black "ground" and Yellow "ACC")... ok is installed and working fine but now my question is; if the car is off because i am on the superstore when can start recording if the car is off?
It is decided by your setting. If you have chosen 90 seconds in Enter Parking Mode Timer, then it will enter parking mode after 90 seconds when your car is off. If you choose OFF in that setting, then it will enter parking mode within 3 seconds.
When you downloading videos, can you download front, rear and interior separately? Or are they all embedded in one file? The sample you showed was just for front camera.
The CPL filter was left on at night. There is no need to remove it. The only thing a CPL filter will do is reduce the exposure a little bit. With all the glare from headlights and other light source at night, this is when the CPL filter will help with cutting the glare.
@@zanewalls8596 5 GHz can transfer a given amount of data quicker. Plus now-a-days many phones only offer 5 GHhz WiFi (I had to look for a really old phone just to setup a door cam that MUST connect via 2.4 GHz)
The frequency option should also set accordingly to your current, whether 60Hz in the states or 50 Hz in Europe to avoid flickering from streetlights etc. Very nice review by the way 😉.
I installed a Viofo A139 Pro Trio camera on the car, and the interior camera, which also has night vision, I use to monitor the front of the car at night, but because of the reflection from the windshield, nothing can be seen when the IR is activated .Is there any film or anti-reflection filterto get rid of this problem?
3 Channel hinders video quality, best the use 2 or 1 channel for 30 fps rather than 24fps. The Video appeared grainy with motion blur at Night, as not enough ambient light maybe or that the CPL filter was On/Off. Did you use the Static film or directly stuck the cameras onto the windshield and rear window? I intend to use Parking Mode so will require hardwire kit. Deciding on Viofo A229 Duo, A139 Pro, BlackVue 900X - Plus, or Thinkware U1000. The newer Thinkware Q1000 is a step backwards in performance and has other unresolved problems. Not sure about Viofo dash cams because all their models still have heat dissipation problems (overheating). BlackVue 900X-Plus is nice but not into Cloud. Thinkware U1000 was released in Oct. 2019 which has good video quality and is reliable plus an easy to use App. Maybe, I shall wait until Viofo A229 Pro is released later in 2023 as it will have STARVIS 2 for both Front & Rear camera's. There could be also an A139 Pro Plus (Pro 2) by October 2023.
Used A119 v2 for years without problems, it is more when you record at 4k resolution apparently but that's what you would want to do with this one. There's another review out there of this where the guy uses a thermal camera to show the readings
Are you able to swap from 3CH 4k 24 FPS recording to 2CH 4k 30 FPS? or does it only work if you buy the 2CH version? Are they different or does it just include the interior camera?
I am not too sure myself either, but it would be easiest to fill in Viofo contact form and ask. Let me know if you do or I might myself. To be honest the front camera video quality does get a bit worse if you use 3CH so I am considering maybe picking up two separate main unit systems, but I am not sure whether this is too much to power off one adapter
@@StallzyxHey! You can just disconnect the cable and it'll work as a 2CH. The other bundles just include the cameras. You can still get 30 FPS 4K in 3CH mode though, if you go down to 1600P. All you lose is a few meteors in the sky and your static dash!
@@courierryan8698 I've seen a video that said that, if you press "long" that yellow button (I think it was), it will change from 3 channels to 1 or 2 channels. I am still waiting mine, so I haven't tested it yet. I've akso heard that more cahnnel, smaller bitrate and for night videos one or two channels are better than all three. Viofo made this (lowering bitrate) to keep the heat of the main units under control. (Sorry my bad english, not my native language)
You should be able to but you will need to turn off the IR LED as that will reflect off the back glass and make the image not viewable. Keep in mind the image at night will be quite dark without much outside ambient light.
there's typically an airbag there on the A pillar so you want to pop it out and run the cables behind the airbag. This is a huge liability for camera installers who dont check where the airbags are
I am watching this trying to figure out why I cannot get past the second or third screen. It is no help when things come up on your screen and you clear them out without telling us what they are or what they mean or how they affect the camera. My experience, right now, is that it keeps 'looping' through the 'connect the camera'. I have selected the camera through the 'settings'. The voice says that wifi is connected and the camera is connected. My next screen is 'connect the camera'. I need answers as to why I cannot get to a 'settings' menu on the camera itself. It says it is recording. Is it on a 3 minutes loop? Is the parking mode operational? Is the day and time set correctly? I have no idea. I cannot even view the pic from the dash cam. So frustrating to have so little info about how to set this up. And this vid is not really helping.
This video is not helpful because it's not a troubleshooting video. If you have checked everything, you can try restarting your phone as sometimes that's required for Android phone. If it still does not work, contact the manufacturer for assistance.
