  • This is a quick-and-dirty build tutorial for a ship build I posted to Reddit the other day. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback about the build!
    In terms of building this in pieces before you have all the parts, I usually fly around in another 'completed' ship while I put whichever ship I'm currently building together. I usually go to New Homestead first to get all the landing gear I need, as well as the cockpit in this case. I would then recommend going to one of the Stroud-Eklund vendors or building most of the ship on the larger ship landing pad that you can build in one of your settlements. I would recommend going to the Stroud-Eklund staryard in the Narion system, as you can then hop to the Valo system to get the HopeTech parts. Then I would go to the Deimos shipyard last. In place of bigger habs or specific habs from a different company, I usually slap in whichever 2x1 habs I have access to in order to fill the same space. As you build this, you can slap in whichever habs or structural parts you need in order to satisfy the flight check errors from the shipbuilder. It doesn't matter how the ship looks during these building phases, as long as the ship builder will let you save and exit. The locations of specialty ship part vendors are detailed below.
    The Nova Galactic 'specialty' parts (landing gear, cockpit, larger habs, weapon mount, and cowlings) you can get from New Homestead, on moon of Titan which orbits Saturn, in the Sol System. The ship technician outside the landing pad here is your guy.
    The Stroud-Eklund 'specialty' parts (caps, cowlings, and bigger habs) can be found either at Neon or at their staryard. Their staryard is in the Narion system, orbiting the Dalvik moon of the Deepala gas giant. Note that the Narion system shares a 'node' in the starmap with the Valo system. Havershaw is your NPC vendor here (if you don't see him he's either at the first desk you see, directly ahead in the showroom desk around to the left, or hiding in the potted plant behind the chair that's facing his desk but in front of it). Neon is in the Volii system on the planet Volii Alpha. For just cowlings and non 'specialty' parts, the ship technician in the ship services building next to the landing pad here can help you, and there is a Stroud-Eklund storefront in the Neon Core area. Walk out of the elevator from the ship landing pad and take a right, and the shop will be just past Sieghart's Outfitters on the left side of the strip. Use the computers in the wall here to modify your ships.
    The HopeTech 'specialty' parts (the radiator and bigger habs) can be found at HopeTown in the Valo system on the planet Polvo. Note that Valo shares a 'node' in the starmap with the Narion system. The ship technician here sells all the structural parts and the 2x1 habs you'd need, and if you keep going straight ahead into the lobby of the huge HopeTech building you see as you exit your ship, there is a vendor in the lobby on the right side behind a wraparound desk.
    The Deimos 'specialty' parts (larger habs, landing bay, structural parts) can be found at the Deimos staryard. This is located in the Sol system orbiting the Deimos moon of planet Mars. As you walk in, stay to the right and continue down the stairs to find Nikau Henderson in a UC navy dress uniform.
    In order to build a new ship you'll need to start from an existing ship. You can either capture a ship using EM weapons and/or the ship targeting perk or buy the cheapest ship you can find from a ship technician. To register an acquired ship, go into your inventory, go to the ship management window, and there will be a button on the bottom that says register, which is G by default on keyboard. While you can also register ships with any ship technician, it's cheaper to do this directly from your inventory. If you're going to use a captured ship, I would recommend that after clearing it you hop into the captain's chair, set this new ship as your home ship by going into your ship inventory and pressing H by default on keyboard, then un-docking and re-docking with the ship you flew in with. You can then get back on the ship you flew in with, set that as your home ship, and go about your business.

    I just had an absolute blast building this, it took a while going to all of the different vendors to pick up the specialty parts, but it was well worth it. I switched out the grave drive with a J52 Gamma drive and just removed your extra store room above it. I also used an H40 atlas fuel tank for 550 fuel in the same spot. I wanted to beef up the engines to 4 Supernova 2200 but I got an error that I needed more landing gear. I found the perfect spot to add them. I removed the 2 lower Stroud mid bracers and replaced them with 2 Stroud accu-lander 11 landing gear. That gear has the same shape as the mid bracers and it's actually lighter mass.
    Thanks I really had a blast.

    This is one of the best designs I've seen and I'll keep that in mind when I finally decide to build ship with that cockpit. But I can see how it can be improved with better parts. Also clipping glitch is just a life saver, the system of building ships is great but sometime you can't squizze everything to look right. It would be great if you can make video of how layout looks inside because one of the reason I don't go with multiple floor designs are those freacking laders in random places that making me sick😅.

Was thinking I would hit one vendor for those large habs but again the design and color of the habs it’s beautiful GREAT JOB MAN! I made couple small changes. I added 2 wing ports on the back and put 2 auto turrets facing backwards so any tailgaters would get theirs. lol Thanks for a great build!!! Ohhh one note!! Do a build list. Make sure to select a part that's clipping in red but you can purchase, then just press down towards the parts that are blocked and place that bad boy wherever you want. Presto, now all the parts are unlocked, don't show this to todd, I have other perks I'd rather invest in.

    I really like the shape of the ship. Built it, quite nice. My only complaint is that the rather short jump range can be rather annoying. I went with a better grav drive than this (still 1x1) and some places are a pain to get to.
    Ladder lay out can also be a bit confusing on first visit though that sorta solves itself over time as one memorizes the layout.
    Slight warning for the build, some of the end game reactors lack a bottom attachment point for the angle plate you use to cover the reactor.
    I wonder if there'd be a way to modify the arrangement to fit in a 1x2 grav drive to solve the range issue
    Edit: Found a solution, swap the 3x3 cargo hall for a deimos 2x3 cargo hall. Replace the two 1/2X1 tanks for a 1x1 he3 tank (ideally one with more capacity than the two tank combined.) then swap the position of the grav drive and the fuel tank. This will free enough space for a two story grav drive who'll occupy where the old fuel tanks were, and the 3x3 cargo. fill the leftover space with filler blocks (If you put a 2x1 hab in the free space, the game will spawn a ladder from the mess hall pantry, rather than put a door between the cargo hall and the new hab. It's weird. You will see a bit of the grav drive poke out on one side as it's obviously not the same design as a hab and they cant be painted. You could hide it a bit more by moving the rear lower cowling of each outrigger 1 block back, and putting a stroud or deimos filler block between both ourigger underside cowlings.

    • @Sulcrux
      @Sulcrux  10 месяцев назад

      Excellent point about the reactor attachment points and the Deimos belly. This is something I didn't consider that I'll try to do in the future. More than happy that you've adjusted parts to suit your needs! Most of this build was done with parts I had available to me around level 20 so I didn't have access to some of the better drives. You'll notice the reactor is nicer as I upgraded that piece after I had posted the original build to Reddit and before I had made this video.

    This is an amazing build, I hope you’re planning on making a few more to share! Gonna have to get my c class license and get building, do you have an order of where you go to build it? I’m confused as to how one is supposed to ‘ok’ a build that’s not complete in order to travel to the place with the parts you need. I’m hoping it’s not slapping a bunch of bits on to make it at least get off the ground?

    • @Sulcrux
      @Sulcrux  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I don't have an order of where to go to build it but I can try to make one. What I meant by using an incomplete build that's 'ok' to travel is purely relative to the flight checks in the ship builder. As long as you have enough landing gear and jump drive per mass and whatnot according to the ship builder you can build part of your ship or slap on more of whatever landing gear you have access to. I recommend flying around with another completed ship and then slapping on the parts as you can buy them. I usually go to New Homestead and buy as many landing gear as I need first, and would probably get the cockpit there first too. Then just slap on some basic habs so you can get from the landing bay to the cockpit and the docker and whatnot. It doesn't matter what the ship looks like during this part shopping phase.

Any of these technicians will sell ship parts, but the ship technicians at specific places sell more. You can also build a ship landing pad (the large one) at your settlements.
