    I am seriously so grateful to you for making these videos and having this channel! I realized thanks to you that I really wanted a female chinchilla, when I was about to get a male. So, now I am going to adopt females. Thank you! :)

    I had 4 males and 3 female chinchillas. RIP. They were all nice and sweet. For me it didn't matter.
    Our first chinchilla was a male just because he spoke to me and said take me home and I'll love you forever.
    None of our chinchillas were aggressive.

    I have 4 males and different ages. The chinchillas that I rescued do shoot urine (not at me but they do it because of stress). They are really stressed out all the time. The previous owners took the chinchillas out of their cage many times without the chins wanting it. They really don't like to be touched. One of them is already 7 years old and he is the most terrified. What can I do to help him?

    • @AllysAnimalAntics
      @AllysAnimalAntics  4 года назад +3

      It can be really hard to regain a chinchillas trust when they have had bad experiences, but it's not impossible. If they don't like to be touched, handle them as little as possible if you need to get them out to clean the cage etc. Try using a dust bath to coax them out or put a carry case in the cage and let them get in of their own accord. You can try just sitting near their cage if any of them come over to you , you can try offering them a treat through the bars . This will help them realise that they have nothing to fear from you. Even if the most timid one doesn't come over he may learn from the others that your not a threat. It takes a lot of time, so even if you think you are not making progress keep going with it. They may always be on the timid side but they should warm up to eventually.

    Ally, I'm a massive rodent fanatic. I've recently taken on two chin boys. I have watched ALL your videos this week. I love your style and your practicality. I would love a video of your sets ups and daily routine for so many wonderful chins.

      it's definitely something I will be doing in the future 🙂 Just need to think of a practical way of doing it, my chin room hasn't got the best lighting and even with the ring light I have I am not sure how well the footage would come out. I may have to invest in some better lighting.

    Hi Ally! Just found your channel and am enjoying your informative videos :-) Socks is so absolutely incredibly adorable (shhhh - don't tell my kitties or they'll be jealous LoL)! While we may never have any of these cuties to cherish, I sure appreciate what you do to help others better understand and care for chinchillas :-)

    I got my first one two weeks ago. A 2 yr old female. From day one she was sweet as could be. At night she definitely lets me know when she's ready to come out to play. I open her cage door and she leaps out onto my lap. She's a very beautiful gray color and has a tag on her ear. Not sure what that's about.

    • @AllysAnimalAntics
      @AllysAnimalAntics  4 года назад +2

      lovely ❤
      The tag is probably from the herd she was bred from. It will probably have her pedigree number on it etc. It's so the breeder can identify which chinchilla is which, we don't really use ear tags in the UK .

      @@AllysAnimalAntics thank you and when they handed her to me they said she was a show chinchilla. Not sure why they would sell such a beautiful sweet creature. She's 2 years old. They told me she gave them 3 babies. Maybe because she couldn't give them anymore and I found that a little sad. She's great fun though. When I open her cage door she leaps into my lap and will sit in my hands the whole time she's out.

      @@annmarsh9119 Sometimes show breeders breed from their chinchillas once or twice, if the offspring are an improvement of the parents they keep the babies and sell the adult. Or it could just be they had a change in their breeding plans.
      I rarely sell adult chinchillas as I get too attached to them, but that's just me 🙂

    • @annmarsh9119
      @annmarsh9119 4 года назад

      @@AllysAnimalAntics I'm so glad you don't sell them. I do know she had several young ones for sale, but took the older one. She's just a basic gray color which I liked. The others were very elaborate looking and I figures people would take those over her and that was kind of a sad thought to me

    • @AllysAnimalAntics
      @AllysAnimalAntics  4 года назад +2

      @@annmarsh9119 Yeah people always message me to see if I have kits for sale and they always say "anything but grey "
      I think greys are just so beautiful though I can't understand why people don't want them.
      Good for you for taking the older grey chinchilla, sounds like your chinchilla has a lovely temperament as well 🙂

    What kind of chinchilla is the white one? What is his long fur calledv

    • @AllysAnimalAntics
      @AllysAnimalAntics  3 года назад +2

      one in the actual video is a black white cross also known as a
      white TOV (touch of velvet) . The chinchilla in the thumb nail with the long fur is called a Royal Persian Angora chinchilla 🙂

    Pro Tip: Check your chinchilla when you get them, examine all over, so you know what the "normal" genitalia condition looks like.
    I've found that I have one female who is the queen of the herd, and anyone can be put in her cage; they all bow before her, and the others let her decide who lives there. I call this a "mediator" personality.

    Usually for all animals I prefer females , they tend to be more docile, less aggressive and cleaner than males . Almost all my animals are females . Please don't use the name gender, gender refers to masculine and feminine in grammar. In biology the word is sex .
