- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has become one of the biggest games of the year, which is interesting considering that its creator doesn’t actually like video games all that much.
Hey everyone, Kotor here, putting the finishing touches on this video long after BretonStripes has gone to bed. It’s coming up on 3am, and when I’m done with this, that’s it - I’m on a vacation of sorts over Christmas.
I worried that now might not be the best time to publish this video, but I didn’t want another week to go by without one. We’ve been insanely busy in the run-up to Christmas, as is logically going to be the case considering that Baby Gamer is just two years old, and really excited to do every possible Christmasy thing.
We’ve also been really sick, which has slowed things down. The outtakes for this video are really weird, and I’ve been putting together a behind the scenes video with all the best flubs and snippets. BretonStriped accidentally slipping into an Irish accent, discovering that my script is an unfinished mess, and calling me out on not actually writing down the full name of the game (apparently half the time I wrote PlayerUnknown Battleground instead of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, because I didn’t bother to proofread or even check the spelling of the game’s name).
It’s been fun. The outtake video will be going up for Patreon backers once I find the time to finish it, which probably won’t be tonight, because I need sleep.
Now probably isn’t a good time to upload a video, considering that most people aren’t going to be watching RUclips over the festive season, but this story felt like one that was important to go out now.
If you’re alone over Christmas, we wanted you to know that you are important. It may not always feel like it, but you have something special to give, and there are people in your life who care about you.
That’s all we wanted to say, and it’s why I’ve stayed up so late to get this done. Have a wonderful festive period, and keep on working hard at whatever personal goals you have in life.

It depends, airplane tickets cost different amounts in different countries and also depending on where you go. It could have cost the same amount as running a server for a year or something like that.

And after much success Brendan laid state to his creation of the battle royale game type, raging legal congress onto other developers for the use of a pre-established set of rules and regulations. Even lambasting the ones who created the framework he based his entire creation on. After this claim though, Brendan while hiding behind the guise of a press release prior, stated that he now had no idea why devs would ever insult or blame one another for copying. He had more important things to do, like make his game of course. And only a short bit after that, the player base was increasing to the degree that players from other countries were giddy to join in on the fun. Brendan soon discovered that China was a much larger economy than he ever imagined. He was so adamant to include them in his creation he gave them a whole 3 servers to gallivant about with whimsy and bloodshed. Brendan was also very business savvy with international markets so this gave him the opportunity to forge a deal with china's distribution of his hit game. He negotiated a mobile port which is a well established gaming market in Asia as well as third parties to display ads in the PC game itself! This was great news for the chinese demographic of PUBG players. With the ads flaunting vpn' for them to use for a fee, they could leave their servers and join the rest of the world in joyous grandeur; battle royale form. But to millions dismay, this wasn't as joyous or battle friendly to the rest of the fans. With so many players feeding into one such access point, the game's integrity started to fail. Many of the dedicated fans of Brendans game pleaded to him requestimg a solution. This brought a deep tension in the community. On one hand the chinese players had all the right to access the game if they see it fit. I mean, it's not like faking your location to grant access to specific privileges in said area isn't going to cause some sort of imbalance within a set locations service. But the latter American players were running thin on patience with the entire debacle, they just wanted the experience they paid for to return. While the chinese community flooding in were lagging Brendans creation, creating imbalance and frustration between the fans he so relied on. As if by fate, a tweet by ant-cheat network battle eye revealed that the majority of the hackers and cheaters who parlayed the games code into their own tools were emerging, and being terminated from the same region. China. With this knowledge Brendan had finally decided on what he should do. It was going to be the cause of division between the entire community, but it had to be done. Not for the success of the game, for the people who made it a reality....
