I just find you guys so honest and genuine it nice to watch something that hasn't click baited me my favourite bit is your thank you slots at the beginning absolute pleasure watching you guys work.
Great video. It brought back a lot of memories! Back in the 70's I worked in a mill in western Massachusetts that had been powered by water and a turbine. When the mil pond silted up it was re-powered with the engine from a D-4 Cat. One day the sawyer came into work after having had the flu. He went down into the cellar of the mill and started the gas pony motor in preparation of firing up the diesel. Being that it was a cold morning the diesel was hard to start so Bernie, the sawyer, had to keep the pony motor running. Unfortunately, while the diesel was exhausted outside, the pony motor wasn't. The carbon monoxide built up in the cellar and poor Bernie was overcome by the fumes. He was a tough and gruff appearing but he was a wonderful guy to work with. He was one of those guys who taught me a lot. I'll never forget him. The mill shut down after he passed away.
These videos are informative, educating, and just so soothing as I watch them before going to sleep. Just slicing away at the days stress and headaches leaving a beautiful fresh piece of lumber.
I agree with you W. E. Especially the Walnut. Customer, what's that? My shack would be wainscoted and panelled floor to ceiling with Walnut. That Maple sure would be a fantastic trim though, cedar accents. Good thing I'm not a sawyer.
Those 1/4x1" scraps, I still have a bundle of them hanging on my garage ceiling from my father's tomato garden and he's been gone for 25yrs now. I guess it's been that long since we've had a garden here.
These two logs were beautiful once opened. Thanks for sharing this video. Regarding Eddie working his butt off, he didn’t have much to start with. Stay safe out there brother. Peace
Hey Mark and Eddie...after a 10 hour day at the machine shop...i was going to saw tonight...but i decided to have a few and watch your video....another good one...you know how to read the logs!!!
Nice stick! I sawed some dried out Hard Maple a while back and it was a hard pull! Makes beautiful lumber. Losing a lot of kerf on small dimension lumber but that’s just part of it. The new edger addition will be great! Great video. Thanks for posting.
Good job both of you. Wood turned out great, that 2nd slab off that 2nd log was interesting. Where’s Mark? He still with you Marc? Hope all is well, take care and stay safe! God bless you guys! 🎚🙏🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
God grew a beautiful tree. When cut, you see a log. When on your mill, you see 1x, 2x, 4x, 6x . You have a wonderful gift to turn a tree into use by man. Hope man does not misuse that gift.
Mr. McCoy would set taper by pushing that log out a little, running the other end up to the log turner, and shoving that end in a little leaving the front end out as much as he wanted. The he set the dogs and start sawing. He did it quite often.
Wheel measures the size exact size Marc has to figure the 1/4 saw kerf and add that to what he wants when making multiple boards. He needs 6 1/2 to make 3 2 inch boards taking in to account 2 1/4 inch saw kerfs.
Hi from cyprus. Can you mount another camera on the end of the carriage So we can see the saw going through the logs from above ?. How cool it would be to change the view from the cab to carriage during the sawing. Just a thought . Thanks.
The only advantage of using a table saw to cut the 1x1s would be you would gain a 1x1 every so many cuts if your boards are wide enough and you would need to have your table saw set up with power feed. In reality to get the most productive set up would be a resaw setup, but they ain't cheap and you would need lots more sales to justify
I really enjoy watching you all work. I have a hard time hearing what you are saying sometimes so I turn the sound down a bit and watch the closed captions. It makes it easier. However, lately there haven't been any subtitles for some reason. They really do make it easier to 'hear' what you are saying. Too much background noise at times.
HI MARK most people that done production sawing changed the old hand dogs 2 air dogs that U weren't lifting the old hands all day alot easier 2 push a button alot less work and walking 👏 👍 all day OMG 18 2O23
I saw 2 goomers with short britches and knobby knees peeping around the lower corner but not toting firearms so yall were safe. Happy weekend and GBWYall!
Why don’t you get a PA system??? Ive been to a few saw mills who work with PA systems and they say it saves them so much time and is the best way to communicate because it’s hands free.
Heard some bad news from a fellow RUclipsr minutes ago. Steve Wallis RUclips channel by the same name. His wife just passed away and he is having a hard time, might be nice if you could offer him some morale support. That's all I know so far.
You comment on this being a boring video and my wife would agree but I have a bandsaw mill and I never tire of milling logs or watching milling videos.
Nobody is useless, if you want to learn you can. On the flip side don't try to be a rocket scientist, but learn something you love and with a good teacher you can do much more than you don't give yourself credit for.

Sawing videos are never boring to me. I could watch them all day.
These videos are informative, educating, and just so soothing as I watch them before going to sleep. Just slicing away at the days stress and headaches leaving a beautiful fresh piece of lumber.
Nothing boring about watching a log being sawn. A new look after each pass, and thanks for taking us along.
That big spinning blade is dangerous, terriffing, and soothing at the same time. Watching it work is almost hypnotic.
Love your channel.
...lookin' good, the old saw is getting a real workout on that hardwood...keep safe...
yes it does !
Hi Mark. I love it when the Friday Eve video turns up on a Thursday afternoon!! I always enjoy your videos! Stay safe and God Bless.
one more day then FRIDAY!
Thank you Mark and Eddie for the sawing video. Always great to watch no matter what you are sawing. Will try to catch the live stream tonight.
thanks John.
This kind of sawing is Mesmerizing! Can’t stop watching it.
glad you like it Larry.
Usually these multi cuts like this are done via compooter and technology. We are blessed to see Markology and Eddieology.
its never dull watching you and the crew working
thank you Richard.
I'm glad that's your sawmill, mark. If it was mine, I'm afraid too much lumber wouldn't make it to the customer. My shop would be overflowing.
Bill
I do take some of the nicer pieces for my shop.

Not boring to me . I totally enjoy
That’s one solid piece of wood.

Will T.H.E. Eddie ever have a day on the mill controls? Always enjoy the sawing videos, thx.
Really pretty wood. Throw some water on it sometimes.
I was wondering if the measurement wheel allows for the thickness of the saw blade Great video.

To keep the windows clean you need to pay the maid more.
I think you should call the turner , Up Turn . Things are lookin better than they have in a few years .
Why do they install 'confusers' in so many pieces of equipment?
