As a lifetime fan of the classic Hollywood Squares with the late Peter Marshall--Thanks for putting this 90 minute collection of Classic Hollywood Squares introductions by the late Kenny Williams!!!Always loved the opening theme & the main theme followed by 1979-81 opening/main theme as well!! This should be an extra tribute to Peter Marshall The Master of The Hollywood Squares!!
100%. thanks so much for doing this and allowing us to see people like ginger rogers, gypsy rose lee, and even the pilot episode celebrities with the original 5 regulars. love seeing all the great people to grace this great game show
Alot of people are probably surprised to find out that it wasn't Paul Lynde in the center square from the beginning! Buddy Hackett and Marty Allen gave it a try, but NOBODY could touch Paul Lynde, before or after‼️ RIP to all those wonderful people we've lost from the original show.🙏🇺🇲📺🙏
I love that the occupants of the upper left square did their tribute to the late Wally Cox as they were introduced. Wally always did that upwards corkscrew because he was so proud to be the voice of Underdog!
@@kingdoc3262He’s referring to what Vincent Price did at 13:58, and Bill Bixby at 14:28. Granted, if I remember correctly, he wasn’t dead by this point yet, just ill for the week
At 11:22 three significant changes occur: Kenny Williams says "One of these stars is sitting in the Secret Square....which star is it?" for the first time, the theme song changes to the classic "Bob and Merrill's Theme" by William Loose, and Paul Lynde takes over the center square!
I remember the night the local announcer said “Tonight’s episode of the Hollywood Squares was taped before the death of Wally Cox”…his regular gig right until the end. Young Karen Valentine was really cute. And Joan Rivers’ original face-wow.
1:19:45 -- the "legends of rock and roll" episode intro featuring Little Anthony, Freddy Cannon, Fabian, Connie Francis, Bobby Vee, Martha Reeves, Frankie Avalon, Patti Page, and Dick Clark. 1:21:05 -- first use of the updated 79-81 theme.
I'm curious, but do you happen to have any other episodes from 1968 that haven't been uploaded here on RUclips (or elsewhere) yet? Since I would LOVE to see them. That has been one of my favorite eras of the show to watch for a long while, and it always felt kinda weird that I was only ever limited to these 15 or so episodes from that year.
What I always found interesting, or at least notable, was that the ultimate cut-up during the show -- Paul Lynde -- was the only one who didn't make any kind of comedic gesture in the opening credits. Just that smile with a slight body turn to the right.
Not quite - grandfather of Roseanne Arquette, his real name was Cliff Arquette. Sigourney Weaver's father was famous though, Pat Weaver - he created the Today show and worked for NBC for years.
27:24 - 27:28 Robert Blake kisses and cuddles Karen Valentine, and Kenny Williams couldn't keep it straight and 27:41 - 27:44 Peter had a little bit of loss for words and just cracked!
Paul Lynde never did anything (no shtick) during his intro except smile. Also, it is hard to believe that for much of the show's run, Hollywood Squares employed two gay men: Lynde and Wally Cox.
If it's any consolation, all of the full episodes in which these celebrity introductions came from can be found across RUclips (and Dailymotion), so you'd still be able to watch them in full. I even uploaded a handful myself.
I absolutely love this!!

Didn't know that. Thank you. May I suggest you put the time?

I'm glad I taped all those 1968 episodes that GSN showed

I like muting this and trying to name the panelists .. it’s a great brain game.
I've pretty much committed all of them to memory after making this video, LOL.
The good ol days of watching the Hollywood Stars come morning or evening. Hello Stars Hello Peter
RIP Peter
Ultra cool! Thank you so much for this stroll among the stars.
Early 70s lunch time as a pre schooler and mom would have this on the little black and white TV in the kitchen.
RIP!! PETER MARSHALL & SOME OF THE OTHER GAME SHOW GREATS WHO APPEARED ON THE SHOW OVER THE YEARS!!
1:20:00 min
Nice to see these popular singers of a previous time then including Dick Clarke who featured many! Wow 👌
All these stars popular at the time of them on...nice memories. Most are likely long gone 🙏🏽 and Peter Marshall there throughout 🎉
RIP-Peter Marshall and popular announcer Kenny Williams.
RIP to Peter Marshall, Paul Lynde, and all the other stars who occupied squares. 🙏🙏💔💔🕯🕯🕯

Yeah, it seems the closest he's gotten to one was his shocked reaction at 36:28
Karen Valentine is so beautiful.
OMG I forgot all about Karen Valentine!! She used to always be on The Love Boat.
It’s a great theme & it’s very dramatic
Like seeing all my old friends.
Pam Grier? Tina Turner? Raymond Burr? I had no idea they were on the show.
Not the kind of show I could see Raymond Burr being super enthusiastic about appearing on.
As a kid the show was never the same after Wally Cox died. Another big drip after Charlie Weaver passed
Charlie Weaver, grandfather of Sigourney Weaver.
Not quite - grandfather of Roseanne Arquette, his real name was Cliff Arquette. Sigourney Weaver's father was famous though, Pat Weaver - he created the Today show and worked for NBC for years.
Talk about a roll call for dead stars! WOW!
28:55 Whoops! Move back, Camera 2!
My God Karen Valentine was Soo cute!
20:11 - 20:14 Great catch, Glenn!
Good eye!
@Richard-o7s6m Thank you, Richard!
27:24 - 27:28 Robert Blake kisses and cuddles Karen Valentine, and Kenny Williams couldn't keep it straight and 27:41 - 27:44 Peter had a little bit of loss for words and just cracked!
i get the sense that a lot of those celebrities hated that they had to be on that show for money
I thought I saw Valerie Bertinelli somewhere in this!
Did Martin Landau and Batbara Bain do anything separately?
They Were Husband/ Wife Over 37 Years
26:38-26:42 -- last time we see Charley Weaver and Wally Cox
@@ekrewer Yes, @ekrewer - R.I.P Wally Cox and Cliff Arquette
In the early color intros, they were from the NBC primetime shows because the daytime shows were not preserved for many years.
Paul Lynde never did anything (no shtick) during his intro except smile. Also, it is hard to believe that for much of the show's run, Hollywood Squares employed two gay men: Lynde and Wally Cox.
Did you know Peter Marshall and Joanne Dru were siblings? R.I.P Peter and Joanne
Yes I did! R.I.P to both of them indeed 🙏🙏
When ya watch this ya realize how much they limited themselves to a certain group of celebs over all that time🧠
38:06 - 38:10 Miss Stevens, please get back over there!
Very interesting, but was Buddy Hackett ever funny?
No I'm afraid he never was
This is the Hollywood Squares I grew up with. The new 2025 version is just awful!!!!
The new Hollywood squares suck
Sorry, but this is not cool. I don't want to just see the players introduced. I want to see the game.
couldn’t disagree more. this is an awesome compilation and so grateful for it
