Kayhan Kalhor lost his father, mother and brother in the war between Iran and Iraq when he was just a teenager. As an Iranian musician, I can always feel the traces of grief in his music. He’s admired in Iran not only because of his musical talent, but also for choosing to be a messenger of peace rather than hatred after what he went through. He chose an instrument, not a gun.

Pamir, the Persian we speak today came to us by Tajik dynasty called Saamaaniaan. Hope one day we connect through a confederation and re-start the united ancient civilization. Roudaki of Kabul 1200 years ago, was the first poet in Persian that even today we understand and enjoy. there very few languages in the world that has poetry from 1200 years ago and in such a large volume.
we have thousands of languages in the world... I know only 3... but music is a language which all can connect... relate to... what a legend... in love with this man...
Music is the golden key to open any door. Above all it opens every heart, be it a velvet one or a stone. I discovered Kayhan by chance yesterday. I am enchanted. And feel as if I knew him since 40 years. I wish we came once face to face and I can wash my soul in this endless ocean of humanity.
What Mr. Kalhor does with every note is simply amazing....and what's even more amazing is the fact that this video is an absolute proof we could all get along perferctly fine, if it weren't for dirty religious and political agendas that is.

I feel sadness and destruction of human being .I was in Tehran during the first 4 years of that bloody war .I had a chance to say good bye to my homeland and go through the pain of immigration and find adapted country USA .Great Job .RIP your family and all those Iranian who lost their life .
