Amateurs, I want a 43" TV screen on a headunit so I have to remove the steering wheel and column to fit it.

Few things here: I have the last-gen joying in my 9-3 and was determined to maintain the cupholder. I ended up going for a single din and drilling some additional holes in the 2din cage in order to mount the head unit in a very specific location. The result is the 10.1 display is completely flush with the dash and it provides JUST enough space for the cupholder to squeeze past (and also pushing the unit as far left as possible in the cage clears night panel etc. buttons as well ). Turned out amazing, looks like it was meant to be
Second thing though is, unfortunately, I've nothing but trouble with the software, including boot loops when the car is off and locked and a random assortment of speakers actually getting audio every time it power cycled. They provided a firmware update and that resolved most of the issues and things were good for a dew months, but a couple weeks ago my steering controls stopped working. Tried the original saab unit and that still works, also spoke with connects2 and checked the voltages of their decoder and thats still working too, so the head units ability to recognise them has randomly died in half a year- curious if anyone else has had similar issues
Oh, another thing i forgot (bloody hell this is getting long...), Their last gen software on android 10 didnt play very well with custom launchers, curious if this refreshed software on A12 works properly again

What would be great if you could add it to the reviews is how dim the displays can get. Driving at night on unlight roads with a large screen can be an issue if it can't be dimmed quite a lot. Thanks.
THIS ^^ Also test with polarised sunglasses. Current 10" doesn't dim enough, and is polarised in the vertical mode, meaning polarised sunglasses can't be worn, such a nightmare!!

But I'm comparing it to my old 2021 joying which did okay with polarized sunglasses but not as well as this new 2023 version.

HOWEVER today I'll make a video showing that the polarization does fine with the sunglasses that I have (I'll put the sunglasses on my camera to try to mimic the effect
You can go into the factory override settings and make it super dim, it also has a warmer eye saving “night shift mode” too- I have the same unit in 11.6 inch and looks even better through my polarized glasses than without. 😅 surprised me too😅

Always good to see ya staying on top of the latest in android. I have started seeing AKM sound chips on some of the android units and that would effectively put them on the same level as the major domestic brands entirely. Thou it really doesn't matter if you are sending your audio to the DSP as the final sound will of been processed via its chips.

It would be interesting to see how it will fit and whether you will need any frames or the screen will be big enough to fit nicely without any frames cause for example 7’’ atoto isnt flush and a bit deep and some of the 10’’ untis you reviewed looks a bit too big for the Saab .
I have a similar unit with a screen of 13" For several months and I find it pretty good. The big problem is that the manufacturer locks a lot of things and I can't make the changes I want. Another problem is that the built-in microphone hardly works. Have you tested this one?

I've bought my last Joying unit, cause they've disabled the capability to lock the screen. That was the drop for me. Going for minipc in car now with 22 inch screen
The latest Android 12 Unit from Joying looks and feels extraordinary, The Specs are out of the world considering price point. Most importantly it has got all the Screen sizes covered - 8",9",10.1",11",12.3",13.3,15". The UI interface is mind boggling. The Sound Radio chip is also updated and they claim that the Sound is more layered compared to previous version with usage of Japanese chips. Understand there could be some niggles until the version becomes more stabilized with firmware updates. But we have to give the credit to Joying for bringing this Unit making Car infotainment System joyful and meaningful. Optical Input or Coaxial input should be used with a Physical DSP to enhance the sound quality
Your comment is an over exaggerated statement, if compared with other Chinese companies offering Android12 headunits . But if compared with big name brands, such as Kenwood, Sony, JBL etc then yes , Joying is among many Chinese companies offering more for your money .

Hi, I have been using Joying Android 10 with a physical DSP for almost 2 years. Considering the latest versions trending b/w USD $ 450-USD $530 vs its beautiful and appealing UI, Features and Specs, it is in the affordable Category. Obviously we cannot expect them to be in mid $ USD 300 range. And I too see that a very few Android Brands competing with Joying like Mekede, Jmance,Teyes etc..In terms of Sound Quality definitely Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer and Sony ranks way higher than Android Units.We go for Android primarily due to friendly and appealing UI interface with multitude of Apps, faster scrolling , no lag, split screens usage, direct Google maps, easy internet, direct downloading or playing of Songs, DVR , 360 deg options etc.. Nowadays Android Units are also getting equipped with DAC (digital analog converter) to sound better. Joying Android 12 has elevated to a greater extent compared to its Predecessor.
That is one amazing headunit!! I love all the flexibility it offers. Only I wish it gave you more channels of RCA outputs. I bought an Android headunit from a company called Maxpeedingrods, and it comes with full 8 channels of RCA outputs to be configured in several ways: a front 2-way with center channel and subwoofer (for 5.1 surround); front 2-way with rear speakers and subwoofer; front 3-way with subwoofer (front midbass, midrange, and tweeter). @DoeBoy999 that's the cool thing about it. It's all built in. It has a 10 band parametric EQ, crossovers for all the outputs (high pass and low pass), and time alignment. All from the headunit itself. I love it!! 😄

I have a renault trafic van that I would like to put an android head unit in. I see teyes do a full kit tha will give me a 9.1 inch screen. Was hoping to go bigger 10 inch plus really. Can you suggest what you think will be a good buy. I would like to keep my heater controls visible.
Looking at the joying units, if going for double din it looks like there is no udjustment on screen height. Ie the attachment posts are at the outmost positions. Is that right?
Single din would allow me to move the screen higher?

Another awesome review !!! If I may, one word of advice for potential buyers, the unit will have problems with aftermarket amps such as JBL, it will pick up the alternator whine and feed it to the amp. NO - it's not a ground problem , it's "not compatible" as Joying support staff is calling it.
I am waiting for the 11 inch unit and just saw your comment. Is there a work around because I have 2 JL Audio amps for speaks and sub? Were you able to solve this problem and has anyone else dealt with this problem.
@@myklgee1797 AFAIK there is no solution, believe me I tried everything from common ground (for the Joying and the JBL) , reroute RCA cables on the outside of the car (for testing), different RCA cables, grounding the RCA cables between themselves and the Joying case, power and ground wires straight from the battery to the JBL, ground loop filter, power filter, ferrite cores and even a Toslink to RCA adapter, none worked. Joying support staff said it's a "compatibility problem" and recommended to try a different amp. When asked which one they said Pioneer or Kenwood based on customers input. The crappy thing is that the amp which originally was in the car (old 2001 20W BOSE) did not have a problem with Joying HU.

This is extremely odd. Analog audio is analog audio. I can't think of how an amp would be "incompatible" from an engineering standpoint.
I'm wondering if the volume controlling of the head unit is programmable in the heather as a permanent quick button.
Older model the volume control is hidden In drop-down menu and is not ideal when driving without steering wheel controlls.
A customization question: Can you change or upload your own backgrounds for different screens? More importantly, can you upload and replace the default vehicle image for one of your car or truck? Referring to the default vehicle that is shown in the overhead view for speakers, doors open, and other settings?
Hi, I bought a joying head unit on your recommendation and it keeps overheating and cuts off until the unit cools down. JOYING will not replace it either. I think you should let your viewers aware of the issues.

I think 15 inch is starting to get a bit too big for a car audio system. Nice to see a high end unit updated to Android 12. Just my opinion on the size obviously, but I just can't understand the need for such a big screen in the front of a car, where the driver would be mostly driving the car not watchign the screen. As I said, great to see the high end unit and all, and your review of it is great. In fact, your reviews have been a trigger for me buying a different head unit recently.
Can the different video be sent to the HDMI than the main screen, say if we have kids in the back, can they watch a movie while I have navigation on the main screen?
You may find that the navigation buttons for home and work either link to Google's Home and Work or can be programmed deeper in the menus somewhere. Not sure, I haven't seen this interface before either.
On the apps in the Play Store, it may depend on the head unit. My old Eonon runing Android 8.1 that I just retired was able to install Netflix and all other apps up until July this year when I retired it. I guess your mileage may vary on whether your Head Unit updates Google Services.
Bigger screen might come in handy if you need reading glasses

When mounted at the highest setting, how far down does the screen hang from the double din unit itself?

I have placed order for a head unit and was wondering how did you wire your sub to this headunit. The sub I have is a powered and has RCA inputs. Also at the moment its tapped into toyota jbl amps front speaker outputs from the head unit (before amp). What would be the best way to connect the sub retaining the jbl amp for rest of the speakers and not loosing the controls over speaker settings in the HU?

Now I wonder if it’s worth to buy the new version with Android 12 rather than the version with Android 10. What would you recommend and is there a big difference between these two units?

it is less then 1.5 V
basically need to use a dsp with an optical cable so you can get clean and high preout voltage. problem is those ones are more expensive than the head unit in most cases
@@turektomasz this goes against what everyone else is saying. Almost everyone is stating it's a 4V+ output. Where did you get this spec from? Actual measurement or from the vendor?
@@tylerhall71 been struggling to get a DSR1 to work with spdif, even rca .....low output, unusable. Trying to get a fix from Idatalink. But if it works this would be a killer combo for the $$$. Super impressed with the 11.6"......got the canbus harness and EVERYTHING works like stock. Volume/mute, rear cam all buttons on dash, even scroll. (2017 ram1500 w/8.4")

Looking at getting the 10.1" screen for my '14 Camry hybrid. I can "upgrade" the ram to 8Gb for an extra 40 bucks. Should I upgrade to 8GB ram or leave it at the 4GB it comes with? Just thinking about "future-proofing" down the road...... Thank you! Great video!
I just purchased JY-UZD10N8-AR and recommend getting the higher resolution screen, switching up from a lower resolution was a dramatic improvement as I can wear Polarized sun glasses without straining etc.
Per Joying the digital outputs are actually converted back from analog.

They do one mount, and 2 din or 1 din install option.
How good is the camera at night? I hate getting into a car with a nice looking camera during the day but nothing but fuzz at night
Is the wireless Android auto connection stable? I've experienced a lot of trouble with older versions, namely the original Snapdragon and the UIS 7862 versions. Android Auto drops whenever you drive by a strong Wi-Fi network.

I might be crazy, but i kind of like that the hdmi socket is inside. It seems like it could make it a lot harder to break the end of the cable or damage the socket since the end of the cable is protected. Especially if you zip tie the cable to the din frame.

Weird to see basically nothing inside a head unit. Pretty much confirm that you need amp(s) as well and cannot run speaker from the unit itself.
Looks like it have a DSP built into it.... Do that interfere with the SPDIF signal, or only on the coaxial?
Is it support canbus connection? and do you know when they will release 360 camera?
@SaabUnleashed is the HDMI just a Mirror only or can the main and second hdmi screen display 2 different apps? Also if different apps, are the apps limited to google apps to the 2nd screen or any 3rd party apps like torque?
You can disply different things on each screen with the Joying (something that I wasn't aware of at the time of making the video). I am unaware of the limitation of apps for this. I will test when I am back in the UK
Are you able to have a 360 Degree camera (birds eye view) on this head unit? You said you did but maybe the singular camera style? Mine has the 12 pin connector inside. But it seems far fetched until they complete it. Could I use front and back ar camera with a front dash cam?

From another Saab (classic 900s), great review. Do you know if the external HDMI out supports a touch screen? Since I'm an aging Pandora user, and Pandora doesn't seem to like split screen, I thought maybe to toss it up on a second screen in my truck.
Unfortunately not, it's only display out for the purposes of second screen.

I got a 10.1 inch and it's just the little flat screen it's got 125 gigs of memory and it's got 8 gigs of RAM. It's an sprd I think it's way better than that due to the fact there's no huge desktop PC that you got to fit in

I need help! I installed the 9” unit in my daughter’s car and accidentally deleted Zlink. I cannot find the deleted file anywhere and each time I try to download a new Zlink it get nothing but errors. I went to Joying for help and the firmware that they offer for the unit will not extract and apparently hasn’t been able to for quite some time. Can anyone please help me get Zlink5 on this unit so my daughter can use CarPlay?
