If I was a game studio, I would be very worried about why the consultation company I'm working with wants to keep it a secret that we worked together. Sweet Baby hides what games they work on because they know they are the common denominator when games go south with weird politics and toxic work environments.
Every studio they work with either loses money, goes completely bankrupt, or shuts down all together. That's a red flag! 🚩

Exactomundo. We can usually detect these tapeworms by looking at the character models. Can we tell the difference between male and female easily? Is there a suspicious amount of POCs where it doesn't make sense for them to be there? Those are some pretty useful surface level indicators of wokeness.

Like Palworld, Lost Epoch, Helldivers 2 (for a while anyway...) and Kaku: Ancient Seal. That last one is not a huge hit or anything but I bought it recently and it's quite good.

Doesn't surprise me. I am a senior game dev in an AAA games company myself and if I interviewed some DEI woke nutcase with obvious mental issues and easy to find online meltdowns I wouldn't pass him/her/they/them through. Judging someone's ability to fit in, work and interact with a team professionally is extremely important in the hiring process, as is not being part of the extremist "woke" movement. Can't speak for other departments or other companies though. My company is luckily pretty based and politically neutral.

I have a serious question if someone can answer it. How did these "people" find their way into gaming... did they fail at everything else in life and think "well I can hide behind a screen here and push my mentally ill ideologies?"
I mean I think a lot of this started outside the gaming industry in places like Hollywood, and I think a lot of it came from faulty data where these companies thought places like twitter or reddit actually represent what drives consumer spending. Like I've heard some references to a report that "proved" that basically people would want and buy this media with liberal ideologies in them, but I forget the exact name. My answer more generally though, when it comes to gaming, is I basically think it was around 2018 when it really began with people like Anita Sarkeesian calling for more "inclusivity" in gaming, so women and people supporting this trend began occupying more positions of power, adding more unqualified "diverse" people through essentially affirmative action hiring practices, and so on. But again I just think it was this wider social trend that has been going on for a long time where these liberal ideologies were being propped up and basically unable to be refuted because all the social media platforms were owned by leftist companies that would shut down discourse, people would be banned for having opinions, you get "cancelled," etc. so it really just allowed this stuff to pervade unchecked.

@@CobbaUnfiltered Yeah I mean if it helps at all I do feel like we are seeing a general social trend shift back to normality, cause I think for most people it really has crossed a line where the insanity has gotten to a pretty intolerable point, and I think as far as gaming goes as long as we see people continue to reject the obvious agenda-pushing stuff, we'll hopefully see it sooner than later. But hope that somewhat answered cause I do think it is a question with a lot of layers that extend outside of gaming; like how pretty much every university in America is extremely left-leaning and are pushing this stuff like gender ideologies and critical race theory, places like Hollywood and celebrities heavily promoting it (often out of fear of losing their job or social media backlash on the side of the celebrities), and again how until recently all the biggest social media platforms were owned by pretty far-left and censorship-happy companies, the only exception now really being X/twitter. So all this together I think really put people and companies in a position where they were afraid to reject these people in any way

Frankly speaking, the gamers and game developers are also to blame for this.
The average gamer and game developer doesn't care about politics because most gamers are young people while the older ones who could either be a gamer or a game developer just don't care about politics. Because of that, insidious and pointless corporations like Sweet Baby Inc. were able to slither their way into the gaming industry.
I'm old enough to remember when game reviews were just about game mechanics, game story, and people outside of the gaming industry ridiculing gamers for wasting their time and money on playing games and how violent games can make children grow up to be violent people. There was no mention about gender or race representation at all.
The first time I heard about "representation" was way back around 2010 from a woman named Anika (can't remember the spelling) who posted a video on RUclips criticizing how female characters in videogames and anime are depicted in unrealistic body standards. And the best part of it all? The woman admitted that she doesn't even play videogames. She was just another Western bisexual (there used to be only 4 genders at that time -- male, female, gay/lesbian and bisexual) hipster feminist buzzfeed internet people trying to make a career on RUclips or the internet.
They really came a long way.

The only scenario in which a 20-something is hired to be a consultant is if they have direct personal experience with some major theme in the game. For example, a game about frontline combat in the Afghanistan War, so the devs hire a combat veteran that served in the Afghanistan War, who just so happens to be in their 20s. Or a game in which war refugees play a major part in the plot, so the devs hire a person that is an actual war refugee, and they're in their 20s. Or hell, a game that takes place within a prison, so the devs hire a 20-something year old former prison inmate or former guard. Etc, etc.
He/They/Ze/Zero clearly has NO how the industry works. Art teams do REFERENCES and mood boards as standard for concept art, there is also legal and “cultural” implications of getting “historically accurate” games wrong also. Artist aren’t given the ability to just do whatever they like, they are managed for a reason to keep environments and the art style consistent. Whatever this person is, they clearly aren’t that insightful about the games industry.

I'm guessing the answer is a bit more complicated on their end than what us consumers see.
One easy answer is BlackRock and Vanguard pushing ESG. If businesses want investment, they want to look good to those firms, and so they want to insert DEI stuff into their products if they want money. Does this cause their customers goodwill? Perhaps, but at least they got their money before they even make their product.
Another one I remember is the pitch during the early stages of DEI being mainstream. So they say, "Intersectionality is the future". Every company is doing it so they don't want to get left behind. Nobody wants to be the next Blackberry who didn't adapt to trends until it's too late. It's why NFTs were even a thing despite being a dumb trend.
DEI peddlers are banking on these businessmen not catching on to their intentions so they thrived for years. Now that's changing, especially with Concord's massive failure being widely known.
Again, this is just my own guess, from my own observations and interpretations.
Sounds like these woke developers want to charge gamers to experience a dose of their past traumas.

actions have consequences, the gaming industry has preached at and ignored gamers for years. we are voting with our wallets and actively boycotting games that promote "the message" or an "agenda". we are tired of the overhyped mediocre and subpar games the industry has given us and now studios are suffering the consequences. the industry has the power to push an agenda or promote a message, where you EFFed up was,,, we have what you want, MONEY! SURPRISE! we the gamers, the consumers of your products have the power to dictate what games and studios do well in the current environment.
