What these people don't understand is that gaming is literally the most diverse and inclusive hobby already. There's games for everyone, people who like puzzles or horror or action. The problem is that "self preservation" involves getting that massive DEI check upfront as an investment. 6 is inaccurate. It's wrong that gamers "can't" play the games because of wokeness. But they reject it because the wokeness is the developers' top priority, way before the quality of the actual game. Gamers know that - they decide not to waste money on some political propaganda.

From what I heard this was an issue in older comics where it took time before they made black characters that weren't racial stereotypes. Not saying that the actress didn't do a good job because she was great (except the dumbass line at the end about White men holding her down that came out of nowhere). My issue with it was that it took away from the story of the universe they built, she was White in Quantum Break, then now she's Black, but still of Swedish origin, it took away from the immersion because it made absolutely no sense to change the race of a character that already has a deep backstory in the game's universe.

There are companies that do that. Some companies to name are Apple, and some luxury car manufacturers like Ferrari. As well has high end fashion brands. The common argument is "You are using the product wrong! It's your fault the thing broke/not working correctly!!!" But these companies can get away with it because even if it's just one instance, they have other customers to get money from. But with entertainment? You can't really do that. You need an audience to keep a consistent cash flow. Games and TV/Movies are not a luxury products.

We're looking at this wrong. Sweet Baby and other similar consulting groups' real targets are actually entertainment companies, not consumers/gamers. Theyre trying to sell their unneeded services to industry, with the help of journalists to shape the stories that are read by the decision makers with money. Now, most of the time the products related with them failed spectacularly and no concerted journalism campaign can hide it. This is where our role came in. We ARE supposed to take the blame for the failure. Why? Easy, they still want to sell their services to the industry but they cant admit that they did some things wrong or that even their services were needed anyway. With their brethrens' infilitrating the journalism industry, this is easier to do, to create a narrative about toxic gamers, toxic audience. Its the same MO with movies and to a certain extent comic book industries. The full context of this is: Terrify the marketing team with the possibility of cancel culture if the game director thinks DEI consulting is not important. Now, the opposite is happening. I understand the need for diversity when done right but not to check a box. I’m hired because of my skills and work ethic. Black person here, and honestly the thing I hated the most about Alan Wake 2 was because they changed a White character, Black. Not saying that the actress didn't do a good job because she was great (except the dumbass line at the end about White men holding her down that came out of nowhere). My issue with it was that it took away from the story of the universe they built, she was White in Quantum Break, then now she's Black, but still of Swedish origin, it took away from the immersion because it made absolutely no sense to change the race of a character that already has a deep backstory in the game's universe.

I have imagined countless scenes of people from all over the world uniting, but I never thought it would be caused by a certain ideological company.
The problem is DEI doesn't sell games, they actually have to be entertaining. You can't rely on fake forum activists to support your game, because they won't, even if you check every box there is to appease them. Just make a game that's fun, leave out personal politics, and print money all day. It's not rocket science.

We're looking at this wrong. Sweet Baby and other similar consulting groups' real targets are actually entertainment companies, not consumers/gamers.
Theyre trying to sell their unneeded services to industry, with the help of journalists to shape the stories that are read by the decision makers with money.
Now, most of the time the products related with them failed spectacularly and no concerted journalism campaign can hide it. This is where our role came in. We ARE supposed to take the blame for the failure. Why? Easy, they still want to sell their services to the industry but they cant admit that they did some things wrong or that even their services were needed anyway. With their brethrens' infilitrating the journalism industry, this is easier to do, to create a narrative about toxic gamers, toxic audience. Its the same MO with movies and to a certain extent comic book industries. Theyre infiltrating entettainment industries to force their narrative and everytime their product fails , its the consumers fault, not theirs.

As an African American man who is a freelance artist in the video game industry, I can honestly say that I would never work with Sweet Baby Inc. I understand the need for diversity when done right but not to check a box. I’m hired because of my skills and work ethic. I’ve met some of the people who work for Kim Belair’s company and they have a warp view of diversity. I’m thinking about writing a blog on the experience
