I came to watch this because someone told me about those buses that bend in the middle and the seats inside turn with the bus...I found that cool and wanted to find out more for myself.
+Emilio Vicente no way NYC is overrated. The best thing to do in Seattle is don't look or act like an outsider. While I was there I told people I was from around them.
Well I guess I just fit there better than you do. NYC stinks, and so does LA. I'm already in the process of moving, just waiting until my job can transfer me.
I just saw this one a few minutes ago and I rather enjoyed it. I think this is one of the best ones a saw. 1 through 7 are good to. Keep them coming. I want to see more in the future.
There used to be a lot more, but routes operated by Community Transit (including Sound Transit Express) are mostly operated by double deckers nowadays.
7:31 I vaguely remember this noise. It takes me back to the days of looking out of the back window on those old buses as a child. The new ones are so boring, and I wish they’d kept with the blue/green/turquoise paint scheme instead of switching to purple for the trolley buses.
Seattle bus are fun to catch even tho I don't live there but the d60 bus are definitely loud as heck but kinda disappointed that the d60 bus are retired which is sad tho but the king county metro definitely approved a lot of these bus you should catch more of the rapid ride busses
I am guessing on this, so if wrong someone correct me: I think Seattle and San Francisco and Dayton, Ohio are the only USA cities that never got rid of their electric trolley coaches.
The poles are held on rather loosely to the wires. If they stretch too far they come off, and most of the time it isn't violent enough to pull the catenery down (but there are exceptions occasionally)
Seattle has a lot more variety compared to Vancouver BC, especially in the fact that there are no less than four agencies all serving the region, compared to the singular TransLink in Vancouver.
It's quite similar but significantly cheaper (especially with an ORCA card). King County Metro is the equivalent of the TTC. Sound Transit is like GO Transit, and Community Transit and Pierce Transit are like Mississauga and York Region Transit. You'll get used to it, Seattle is quite a livable city by US standards.
Welwyn22 honestly York Region Transit looks much more similar to King County Metro. Do you know if Seattle has any subway trains or it’s just the Street cars.
@@yyznawar6568 Seattle has streetcars and the regional LINK Light-Rail that runs through the former 'Transit Tunnel'. Not an actual Subway but as close as Seattle can get to having one.
I want to no, If you can film a Rapid Ride bus in Seattle. I want to see what it feels like to ride one. I've seen a video like that, but it was a short ride. I would love to ride a Seattle bus.
@@Welwyn22 With my Class B license and PS endorsements, I can drive those buses? What's a Class A passenger bus, and does it vary from state to state? I'm from GA.
Hardly any cars. People take busses in Seattle or walk. Drivers park their cars at bus stations and take buses to work. That's why there isn't traffic. No medians they cause traffic.
The bus system in Seattle is obviously amazing, but too bad there's so little intra-city rail infrastructure. One light rail and a 2 mile streetcar line in a city that could easily support a whole subway system is kind of unfortunate.
Indeed so. There are more streetcar lines under construction - as well as the Link having extensions to the north, south and east within the next five years. A new Link line to West Seattle will follow in the next decade with further extensions north and south as well. It definitely isn't on the scale of Chicago, New York or London though.
@@Welwyn22 That's good to hear, but it's a little annoying how they didn't do that decades ago. I think of Seattle's neighbor Portland which is a smaller city with a much less extensive downtown yet it has 3 streetcar lines and 5 light rail lines that extend far into outreaching suburbs - a sixth line will probably begin construction by the time Seattle starts its extension projects - or Vancouver BC which is also smaller in population yet features a world class autonomous light metro system built in the 80's. Too bad the Seattlites were more concerned with building highways and viaducts at that time.
+MyGaming Productions Nope, the driver got out and reattached the poles right there - causing the other buses waiting on the other side of the intersection to miss a whole light cycle.
The poles were on the wrong wires, it happens from time to time either due to driver error or dodgy switches. When the bus turned the corner the poles were pulled off the wires.
Alas no. I did manage to record a ride on one five years ago, on route 7. One does still survive as a MEHVA vehicle, albeit as an original dual-mode breda.
Glad to see that Seattle is not afraid of color... beautiful liveries on the trolleys and buses.
Yes indeed... the bright colors would be especially nice on a gray, drizzly day.
I came to watch this because someone told me about those buses that bend in the middle and the seats inside turn with the bus...I found that cool and wanted to find out more for myself.
Was just in Seattle myself this last weekend. Great city, can't wait till I move there.

really then why was everyone there polite to me? I think Seattle kicks ass.

+Jeff Hughes The next Seattle Volume is due in August. In the meantime I am working on a new Vancouver, BC volume.
I was there for two weeks, very nice please to live..nice weather .I may move there very soon
Seattle Metro obviously loves its 60-footers. I've never seen a place with so many 'bendy' buses.

Great video!!! Keep making more.
I recently moved here just three weeks ago and it seems most of these flyers were replaced with a more updated version.
Great video! I liked it and signed up.
I didn't knew they had trollybuses in Seattle? By the way cool video.
I miss the old ones, now they're all replaced with those xcelsiors
woodysums270 And what's wrong with xcelsiors? The old trolleybuses sure where more nice looking i guess. Seattle looks like a nice city.

wonderful vid! Thanks a bunch for the video.
Im confused on how the busses with the electric rodes dont rip the lines down if they had to swerve to miss something 🤔

The Buses in Vancouver BC, look the same as the Seattle Wash. Buses. However, Seattle buses are more colorful.

Welwyn22 Translink serves the whole lower mainland
Seattle my favorite
I don’t know how to compare Seattle public trans vs the TTC we have here in Toronto. I’ll be moving to Seattle soon so I need to learn quite a bit.

The buses have air conditioning? i'm from RIO.
Yes. sorry for the late reply
Yes and it is great
Did you know that they have street Union trolleys in Seattle Westlake?
Yes, I did. I've rode on it from Westlake to Fred Hutch Center. I don't think I recorded the ride on it though as it was getting dark.
