After about 6 minutes of this video, I had to step away and wrote a full 4 page back story for the Necrons I've had primed and unpainted for 3 years. Thank you for kickstarting the rise of Mortem the Everlasting and their Reclamation of Life Protocol! 👍Your end result is amazing and I really do hope you are proud of it. Take care!
Thank you! This sound great, feel free to share what you wrote with me. I'm quite curious now. I'm sure you'll do a great job and share some pics, I'd love to see the result!
@jwminiatures Oh right on. 😁 The abridged version is I started thinking Timothy Dalton Timelord vibe, but decided on something kinder. Mortem remembers what it was like to be alive before the Necron betrayal. While in his long sleep, a portion of his processing power was turned towards restoring life to his people. When he awoke, he had envisioned the Dawn Spring Matrix. Turning his tomb world into a catalyst for life, through the Blackstone constructions he dreamed up and studying the evolution of species brought to his world, he toils to reverse time and death. And he works still, sending his armies to gather artifacts and creatures alike in his crusade for the Reclamation of Life. I love the look you started, but I want to make it also an "autumn forest" theme for the vibrant fall colors to pop. (I have some lore reasoning for this too). But I'm excited! Even went ahead and got that first pot of Dirty Down Moss ready to rock.
This sounds really look. I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn, if you want to drop some pics in the discord when they are ready that would be great!
Having a Necron covered in vegetation is a beautiful and ironic display of life triumphing over death, especially if you read Robert Rath's excellent novel "The Infinite and the Divine." I'm tempted to do this to cover a Sororitas tank (or a Knight) in flowers.
WoW look at you! Breaking out and up! And this release! Congrats on your tribe growth and great idea for this twist on Necrons - brilliant! Not easy, this is!
Love the look. I recently started making my necrons in the colors for the silent king, but this has me thinking to try the nature theme out. Only worry I have is how it will look on the silent king lol
Thank you. I could be wrong here but from memory the silent king did not go to sleep, so you could the entire army in a nature theme and have the silent king pristine. As long as you are using the same colours across the armour and weapons he will tie in and expands on the narrative but if you wanted to keep the theme across the entire army moss him up. I don't think anyone would question it
Awesome video. I just came back to painting from a long break and still can’t figure out what my necron scheme will be. What I love about this scheme is how easily it pairs with any other. I think an army where some of them are normal, some are overgrown, and some just walked out of the ocean would look really cool.
Cheers buddy. For larger panels I wouldn't change a lot, you could add more cracking paint but most of the other process remain the same. You'll have a lot of area to play around with the mottled patterns so go to town with it
Wow dude this is so freakin cool! Maybe I'll paint the missus' Necrons like this that would be cool really got my imagination kickin.. Old one ruins battered and reclaimed by the jungle a silent horde shambling out from the undergrowth.. Just Cool as hell
Either way, It's an AWESOME aesthetic! 10/10 Also, Is there a "quick and easy" way to paint this scheme? Some version that won't take half an hour for each model? @@jwminiatures
Thank you. Yeah you could skip some of the blending steps. Get a cream base on the armour and wash it before doing the moss effect. If you aren't too worried about the effect on the blades you could spend less time smoothing them out. Most of it will translate ok to batch painting as you'll be waiting for each layer to dry

Thank you mate. Yeah that would be cool idea, almost like they are amassing their force across multiple worlds
Now i want to paint necrons
You should!
I'm so tempted to try this on a Reaver Titan. There's something poetic in cold, angry steel machines being covered in natural splendor...
This would be cool. If you do it be sure to share some pics with me
Brilliant pqint shceme myan! I'm going to try this.. any suggestions on larger panel models like the doomstalker? Thank you

Thank you mate! You should, they would look pretty cool. Looking forward to seeing what you do with them now
Lapu-crons...
Killer video, really love the effect and the look of the finished model. And really not that hard to execute either.
Thank you mate, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully you give it a go!
Totally reminds me of the ancient Vex from Destiny.
Cheers buddy, a couple of people have said the same. I didn't see it at first, which is surprising as I logged a lot of hours in that game
Either way, It's an AWESOME aesthetic! 10/10

I feel like credit to Slayer Miniatures would be appropriate...
