A bird rolling on its back is the ultimate sign of trust and affection.

    • @kiwiguy4706

I think it's also an act of submission, my magpie would tease our pheasant by grabbing it's tail & swing around on it as pheasant tried to get to her. Finally when said tail bent maggie was in BIG trouble, pheasant would tap her on the head & she would instantly fall on her back with legs poking straight up like a dead bird. Was stupidly funny to watch!

As humans, we hold responsibility to treat them all with love and care. We are duty bound to do it. I don’t like the term dominant species, because all living things have an equal place on this earth, but humans do know better.... we are also capable of caring for animals, much better than a lot of us do right now.
This is stunning to watch. I grew up with a wild crow called Maggie.... a close family friend raised her from a baby. She was free to come and go, but she chose to stay.... she played fetch with the dog, a huge Alsatian... they were best buddies.... that crow was awesome. And also very funny. She did eventually fly away, like Penguin, but she hung around for years.
I wish everyone could see how important it is to take good care of all animals we are blessed to share this world with. There’s a lot we can learn from them, for sure. ❤️

When I became disabled, I started feeding the birds. That constant life and activity at my window has helped. As for being a mother, I remember when my stepson was about 11, he told me he feels much safer when I'm home. I thought, "Yes. @@valvlog4665 No, I've only ever met a handful of people I'd characterise as unkind once I've understood their motivations (though I've heard of far more) but the overwhelming majority are kind at the core. If everyone who said that a given animal is better than humans was right then we'd all be murder hobos who kill just to see life drain away but we're not, nearly every example of a person doing an unkind thing is an example of a human thinking they're doing the right thing and thus are being motivated by the best of intentions. Only humans have the understanding required to be truly kind, intelligent, loyal, or sacrificing whereas animals are largely instinct driven. This leads me to conclude that people who really think animals are better and aren't just making a vapid comment for social validation have lead really awful lives and have a skewed view on their own species.

    Magpies are very quirky birds.
They can be very territorial but also very sweet and goofy too.
An Aussie childhood wouldn't be complete without being swooped on your way to school.

Too right, mate! Fair dinkum on being swooped by a magpie, not just when walking to and from school, but just if you’re out going for a walk during magpie nesting season, and, by either pure coincidence or just sheer accident, walking too close to a tree where they’ve built their nest, then, all of a sudden, seemingly from out of nowhere, BAM! The buggers are swooping at ya, trying to peck your eyes out, squawking and screeching at ya, saying (in their own words), “Get outta here, ya galah!”

    • @NZ_BraveHeart_0120
      @NZ_BraveHeart_0120 3 года назад

@@Kyra_of_Kerkyra Well, the magpies you’re most likely familiar with and thinking of are a different species to the one shown in this video. The bird found in Australia, and shown here, that has the common name of ‘magpie’ is not related to the other species of birds that are called ‘magpies’. Those magpies are members of the Corvid family, which means they are closely related to crows and ravens. They aren’t as aggressive as the Australian magpie, and they’re surprisingly intelligent, capable of recognising their own reflection!

Man. I watched this movie a few months ago on Netflix. I cried buckets but was also really inspired.
I'm on my own journey health wise (affecting my mobility,) and although it's nothing like as horrendous as what happened to this strong woman, the movie/story of what she and her family went through struck a cord with me.
Penguin was certainly a gift from God. He showed at the perfect time and seeing this real life footage is a real blessing for me tbh.
They are just the nicest strongest, sweetet family. Both Peng and the family were blessed with each other.
A real life story of just how empathetic animals truly can be and the benefit they, even a wild bird, can be in the most surprising of ways.
Lots of love to the Bloom family.

Animals are such special people. They always know how to heal. When my beloved dog died 3 years ago I was in a dark place. My cat helped me heal until he passed last April. I had two dogs that didn't work out but they helped me heal for the time I needed them. I now have two amazing kittens who'll be a year old in a month. My boy cat is exactly like my previous cat except for breed. He does carry my other cat's name. His sister is a lot like my passed on Chihuahua. Two different suits on but so much like my two previous pets. Whenever I start feeling sad over the loss of my previous cat and his dog sister my two kittens stick to me like glue. They always know how to comfort.
