    The white Jeep that I work on in my videos came with a new set of front speakers when Chele bought it, but they weren't installed... now I see why!

    Pretty cool YJ. I have an 89 islander that I just bought a new deck for. That Tuffy box set-up is pretty cool. Are you running the new 4x6 and the Tuffy box?

    That box looks nice, but it's not really the best for sound. The front of the speaker should be sealed from the back to prevent cancellation on the midbass. The dash looked just as bad, but it's better than nothing. Still, I enjoyed watching. 👍🏼

    Wouldn't it be easier to install speakers on the doors? I did on a jeep I had. Sounded great... Just a suggestion

    I want one of these pretty badly but it seems as if it won't fit without major modification due to my A/C. Any suggestions or would you think it's a no-go?

      Brantley Pritchard if you're wanting decent sound you can use better speakers like JBL Marine 4x6 or Polk (or another better brand) marine speaker. It just isn't that expensive over the walmartha kicker, boss, sony, and pioneers that don't perform. You really don't need the 'box' - in fact the box is terrible for good quality sound and it takes up a lot of space in our diminutive jeep interiors.
      If one's judgement of quality sound is based merely on an ability to produce a high volume level, the box is fine I guess. Considering that those pioneers he's using sound awful anyway, I guess the box is fine. The pioneer speakers - in any size - aren't what they used to be, but I guess they are an 'improvement' over a broken or burned out speaker- the magnets are tiny and they're cheaply made. By the time you buy the box and speakers, you've spent way more than the Polks anyway!
      Just buy a better speaker, marine rated to alleviate moisture concerns. The better speakers have bigger magnets, sound great, or as great as a jeep can sound, and the dash placement is about as close to giving you front stereo imaging as you can get in a jeep. Use an overhead sound bar with good quality big-magnet speakers and it starts to sound decent, add a compact powered sub under the back seat and run it without too much gain and you're there. And no extra clutter in the jeep!

    did you have any issues connecting an aftermarket stereo to an older wiring harness? or did y'all just splice them in?

    • @OhYeahAboutThat
      @OhYeahAboutThat  8 лет назад

      It's easier and faster to just run new wires for the power and speakers. You'll be a lot happier in the end!
