  • 472 inches of carbureted blown hemi, and not one bit of surge imagine that, it's either tuned right or it's not period
Blower surge is something that drives real tuners out of their mind, because it is a rich lean condition that can absolutely be tuned out whether it's carbureted, mechanically injected or EFI

    Well Tuned!!!!!

And with fancy modern injection one can get highly tuned engines with lots of duration camshafts to run smoothly, at a level they become as 'boring' as any modern car to drive. Heck, I love when you have to learn how an engine behaves going trough the revs and gears to get most out of it. But like good throttle response even more. Which your stunningly beautiful Willys Coupe sounds like it has! 👍

That's the whole point, if you know what your doing, any type of induction, carbureted, mechanical injection, EFI, can all be tuned correctly and especially supercharged motors, if it's surging it's not tuned correctly period, those that don't know any better think blower surge sounds "cool", but to those that know how to tune it's cringe worthy, and try driving something that surges, the driver's and passengers look like bobble heads, it hilarious 😂
Here is another example of what people think can't be done, my mechanically injected street legal Nitro Coupe 20 lbs of boost, idles at 950 rpm zero surge

You realize the reason you don't have any surge is your using a open air scoop. It's the butterflys that cause that surge noise. But you already knew that. Ah huh

Lol, not to be or sound condescending, but you don't know what you don't know, surge has NOTHING to do with an "open air scoop", and the scoop has air cleaners in it, nor do the "butterflies" have anything to do with it, nor does butterfly transfer slot exposure have anything to do with it either
Surge is caused by a rich/lean condition, in a carbureted example like this it's the transition from the idle circuit to the main circuit, been tuning these things for 40 years, study, ask questions, and understand what your talking about first, "but you already knew that huh ?
Bottom line if it's surging it's not tuned correctly period

@@garyallen8869 please explain to me why efi or fi engines have blower surge? Not being a jerk, id like to know.

@@JamesDeegan-d6b it's very simple they aren't tuned right, not all supercharged mechanically injected, or EFI motors surge, the ones that do aren't tuned right especially with EFI, because it's even easier to tune out the rich/lean condition in that particular part of the fuel map where it is occuring,by adding or removing percentages of fuel in those cells where it is occuring
Mechanical injection is very difficult because mechanical injection has a constant flow pump that increases pressure with RPM, so it's getting the main jet, residual pressure valves, and barrel valve set right as well as throttle blade opening set right, contrary to what people think, mechanical injection can even be made to work on the street and idle and work just like a carburator or EFI, but it takes a special rifle drilled spool, a second bypass and a sprint car dial-a-jet, like my 100% street legal Nitro Coupe has,
Often some people will intentionally put a motor out of tune so it surges because some people think it's cool, but nothing could be further from the truth, but to each their own, bottom line if it surges it's out of tune
Take a look, listen to my Nitro Coupe idles, doesn't surge and drives just like it has EFI, with mechanical injection
