I'm not sure how feasible it is to play on 2022 computers, but I would LOVE to see Drew play Oregon Trail *2.* It features: More years to start in, more starting and destination areas, more history, more stops along the trail, WAY more types of supplies and ways to solve sickness (or make it worse!), MAGICALLY bad voice acting, and of course way, way, *WAY* more ways to die! I mean, c'mon, you can get mauled by a mountain lion, accidentally shoot yourself, get your injured party members high on laudunum, cut off someone's gangrenous leg and die horribly going down a hill! Who WOULDN'T want to see Drew attempt to deal with all that? :)
It is actually possible to make money in later versions. In the CD version for windows, I hunt a couple times, sell all the meat 🍖, and can make a profit. Oregon Trail II lets you buy horses. By about Fort Hall, they only cost $45, and by trading them you can make a profit slowly but easily. People will pay $80, even $90 for one horse! 🐎
Did you happen to notice the prices at the forts gradually go up as you get further along? And one of the (what we now call NPC's) even complains about the blatant price gouging!
I once played this on one of those old mac online emulator things and it was really fun. (I also played a Lewis and Clark variant of it in fourth grade history class)
