Oooo! Story of Many. Epic co-op narrative game always peaks my interest. Although how many games in that genre do I need? Is the 10+ already sitting on my shelf of shame enough?
Alex, one of my favorite videos of all time was you pairing with Tom Vasel to review the BGG top 100 statistics and how they had changes over time. The video might be on both yours and their DT channel. I'm off to try to dig up that video and see if you answered your own question (which game held the top 1 position the longest) a few years ago. Frankly, I can't even remember how you both managed to go back in time to see what was on the top 100 from each year but you've piqued my interest again. I think that video with Tom may have been how I discovered your coverage and have been a big fan ever since.
@sattm8230 that is one of Alex's questions in his quiz. Would you stop new games for ten years. I could not imagine if games were stopped in 2014. Look at all the games we would not have.
Great video as always, thank you Alex for the content. Games I have my eyes on are Cyberpunk (I love the IP, was a massive TTRPG player back in the days and I'm still playing the video game), Puerto Rico and Speakeasy. Skara Brae and The Anarchy is an automatic back for me because I'm a big fan of Shem and the Garphill Games range. Own almost all their games, have Inventors coming in October and really looking forward to that one.
Hi, thank you for the video. Great overview as always. For me most anticipated is definitely Rayman. I love this IP and can't wait to play it. But I have also heard a lot good thing about RA too:)
The quote about Puerto Rico did not say it held the #1 spot for the longest "continuous" time in history. It just said "...for the longest time...". So, it would be correct to look at the total time at #1 across multiple instances of it being at #1. I didn't go back and look into it but I'm guessing the quote shown is correct as written.
Even if you assume Puerto Rico became number 1 in late 2003 it's second reign in 2010 from March till December definitely gives it more time overall in number 1, whether that first reign extended further than Gloomhaven's 5 years and two months depends on when in 2003 it overtook Agricola. If it was May or earlier that should cinch it for Puerto Rico, if it was June-July either game may have been longer, we'd have to know the specific dates.
So many great games! Getting married in November so I am trying to be even more responsible than ever before. Right now, I have given myself permission to do Puerto Rico, a game I have loved since my first play but never purchased for myself. I actually have planned to back this one since the announcement that Awaken Realms was going to be making it. Really want to back the new Garphill Games but may hold out this time. Really wanted to pick up Ra. Interested in Emberleaf simply because of Frank West. I have the PnP of Wayfarer's Tale and love the quality graphics and would like to have a professionally printed version but can probably easily talk myself out of this one.
The quiet August was the calm before the storm that is September. Look at all these games! I will need to be very selective with my budget. 😦 Personally, the Garphill games and Speakeasy were on my radar but Puerto Rico and Dinogenics are intriguing. 👾
Puerto Rico SE, Speakeasy, Skara Brae, and The Anarchy are all on my interest list. Not sure Ra really needs an expansion. Maybe if someone else is backing, might add on. Big Cyberpunk fan, and like The Witcher: Old World, but that real-time gameplay was a complete turn off. Cyberpunk done in the style of Old World would have been more my thing. I guess I sort of have that with the CMON Cyberpunk Gangs game.
I’m a big fan of cyberpunk and project elite, so I’ll almost certainly be backing Cyberpunk 2077. I might back Ra deluxe, but I’ve never actually played the game, so I’m not sure it’s for me. Seems like it’s a pretty safe back though. Otherwise, nothing else currently piques my interest. Appreciate the coverage!
September is going to be a big month for me to try to ignore KS. :) I'll probably be backing Lands of Galzyr: Dreams and Mysteries. I'll be watching Moon Bunny, Gems of Iridescia, A Wayfarer's Tale: The Journey Begins, Railroad Tiles, Rayman The Board Game, Emberleaf, and Nature. I try to limit my backing to just 1 or 2 games per month so I hope most of these will have a US retail presence next year.
Alex, @boaedgameco im wondering if you don’t know the story of Jason Perez ‘ role and subsequent exclusion of the new Puerto Rico edition. If you did know, don’t think it’s right for you jsut to ignore it
I’ve been wanting to get dinigenics for ages but it’s so expensive on eBay, so I’m looking forward to the campaign. I’ve tried to slow down on crowdfunding/board game spending in general but I’m definitely backing Puerto Rico and dinogenics
With influencers using the number of consumers who ask for launch notifications to find potentially popular campaigns, will(do?) crowdfunding sites see an artificial rise in the registration of accounts whose sole purpose is to inflate those numbers (like fake reviews that companies can buy)?
The problem with that is that you'll have content creators talk during the campaign about what an awful convertion rate that kind of games would have between followers and backers. I've seen this happen when a campaign had problems, and it's not encouraging as a potential backer to see that so many followers passed on the game.
Luckily nothing interesting. Also, my money is planned out for the rest of the year already. I played DinoGenics once and won. It's neat, but not well balanced, not a keeper, especially not for $100+ (don't forget to factor in shipping and VAT!). . Except maybe "Ra" but I think they are not allowed to deliver to Germany for silly stupid licensing nonsense. :/
Oh, No! Comparing Agricola to Puerto Rico in any way or form is a complete insult to gaming in general. Agricola is one of, if not the most, overrated game of all time.
I enjoy watching your videos on 0.75x speed. It sounds more normal to me.
😂
😂😂😂 me at 1.25 ...too much fluff
Oooo! Story of Many. Epic co-op narrative game always peaks my interest. Although how many games in that genre do I need? Is the 10+ already sitting on my shelf of shame enough?
I thought the new unmatched co-op (teenage mutant ninja turtles) was also going to luanch in September?

All in on Puerto Rico, Clans of Caledonia, Cyberpunk and Dinogenics.
Dinogenics is my #4 favorite game of all time.
Wow, high praise!
OH SNAP, an SMT boardgame? Well I'm already interested.
Too many games, movies, TV, music in general. I'd be ok with a global pause for about 1-2 years. :D
i share the sentiment exactly. just too much.
Lol exactly :)
Yup
Make it 3 years.

I was already following Secret Recipe and added to follow A Wayfarer's Tale and Speakeasy. Can't wait to see what they offer!

7:10 - The Story of one...

Indeed. It has the longest total time spent at #1.
Even if you assume Puerto Rico became number 1 in late 2003 it's second reign in 2010 from March till December definitely gives it more time overall in number 1, whether that first reign extended further than Gloomhaven's 5 years and two months depends on when in 2003 it overtook Agricola. Looking forward to more Deliverance! 🎉
Yes!
Puerto Rico is still my #1 favorite game of all time.
Wow, higher praise :)

Yeah I'm specifically not giving that campaign a dime because of it
I'm looking forward to Dinogenics and Speakeasy.

Cyber 2077 or Tamashii?
No mention of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Unmatched Adventures?? That's my most anticipated for the month.
Why would Unmatched go through crowdfunding??
@@joeferreti9442 I'm pretty sure because the first unmatched adventure was a crowfunding as well?
With influencers using the number of consumers who ask for launch notifications to find potentially popular campaigns, will(do?) crowdfunding sites see an artificial rise in the registration of accounts whose sole purpose is to inflate those numbers (like fake reviews that companies can buy)?
I mean maybe...but I think that's an edge case to be unlikely to be worth it long term.

Ufff nothing for me. Good time to fill the collection with some older games
Luckily nothing interesting.

welp. no longer interested in cyberpunk. real time isnt for me.
Deliverance is one of the campaigns ive been waiting for
Yes. The first to watch. Feeling lucky
Close second? 😂
Woohoo!
Oh, No! Comparing Agricola to Puerto Rico in any way or form is a complete insult to gaming in general.

Ah! So close! Risible: (/RIZ-ible/) to provoke laughter.
