As a past owner of a hobby shop and aftermarket biz.....you guys are making a HUGE investment. Makes me feel positive about the hobby. Best of luck and thanks.
Appreciate you explaining all the current economics and logistics that are behind our much loved hobby. Still looking forward to all those announced upcoming releases.
Very impressive operation Andy, makes my local hobby shop look like one of those photo booths in the parking lot back in the 80s, can't wait to see what's coming up next!! 👍👍
Thanks, Andy that tour reminded me of the time the old Great Models Webstore (now Sprue Bros) had an openhouse and I got to go shopping inside the biggest hobby store I'd ever seen.
I'm 58 and getting back into the hobby after 15 + years AND omg the prices are out of this world , even kits that are old molds that companies have pumped out for decades without any refreshing of the molds . If the kit is $40 cad I can get it ,maybe 1 every 2 months , depending on shipping cost .Soooo I too am digging into my stash lol I don't see how kids can get into the hobby anymore.
Totally agree. Halcyon days are gone. I came back into model railways 8 mid 90s and have seen prices since 2012 basically triple. Same with model car diecast so v thankful I got all my collection done before then. This caused me to see what was happening in kits since I was building Airfix in the 70s and Tamiya in the 80s. I have been buying a mix of new releases, old/re-issued car kits and Airfix for nostalgia regions. Loving the artwork but seeing the prices climb. Scalemates has been an absolute revelation and goto website. Paints have been the biggest challenge and finding airbrushing tough so tend to stick with aerosols
@@paulredding5864 Yeah - scalemates really is a game-changer, especially nowadays with the rising costs, it nifty to find out before you buy if the brand new release is brand new, or just some wobbly repackaged 30+ old model (looking at you revell of germany :P). Add to that, that it has really a broad scope, not just on tanks and co, but also sci-fi, fantasy, ships and so on. Btw - may i ask what makes airbrushing tough for you?
@@MERLK2 it's all the cleaning between colours. I hv listened to a few podcasts and try to remember which bit of the airbrush I only need to clean but its tedious. Far simpler to just place the sprues on card and do them with aerosols. For camo, I just then cut shapes, hold with blutack and repeat. Canopies are masked with paint masks and same again. As long as it looks reasonable, I am happy as only me knows what's there. I take a bit more care now eg with inside wheel wells but enjoy the construction more and then move onto the next one. This is one reason I enjoy rail wagons as its a uniform colour for body and same for the chassis. Cars I can hand paint the detail and just aerosol to body and interiors.
I have to say, the shipping from your new warehouse was about four days faster. Which was one reason I made purchases through another retailer. I look forward to making andy's hhq my only stop online.
1) That's a really cool warehouse! Any ideas for what to paint the walls? Perhaps in various camo schemes? I'd recommend the USS Slater pattern. 2) The break room-- geezum! I expected either Kevin or Michael Scott to come out of the bathroom when you went down the hall. 3) That's a lot of ceiling to hang model aircraft from.
Thanks for the behind the scenes insight Andy. Always neat. Cox cable stinks in my book, but I pay them money until I get AT&T fiber. And hey, it's dry heat, right?!?!😛
Those bare walls would look great with aviation and armour art mounted on them, and not to mention glass display cases placed in prominent locations filled with assembled models. I do like the two kits on the staff smoko table, MENG P-51 Mustang being one.
Well Andy I live in Las Vegas and I feel your pain just growing pains I'm sure you're survive there's hope those swamp coolers come in before they're your monsoon season starts
Hi Andy, as the saying goes , 'shit happens in life' and those like hick-up were semt to test you, and you have survived these, I wish you all the very best for the wharehouse, any chance of opening a branch in Melbourne Australia. Take cars and keep safe. Best regards from Australia
If I was one of those electricians installing your lights, I wouldn't get any work done!! I would be to busy looking down on all those shelves filled with wonderful kits, lol.
Andy the trumpeter kits you have in the front window of the store I can’t seem to find them anywhere could you please advise what they were and how do I get one
Will Call???? I live in Phoenix and would beat waiting for product through the mail.....or having to drive almost to Prescott to get to your store, hahaha!
Great video Andy!! Any thoughts on the shipping situation Around the world ? Is it improving or still stalled What a terrific video Andy Thank you for bringing a fresh fun and view of the hobby Super!!!!
I'm planning on attending the Nationals, and was also going to swing down from Vegas and visit your shop. What days will you be open during that part of August?
You always come over as a really nice guy on your videos - and I'm sure you truly are. But a part of me wonders whether, when asking questions like "Why am I five hundred shelves short?" "Where are the lights?" or "Where are the air-conditioning units that should've been here two months ago?" Andy the successful business owner is a trifle more direct...
If it wasn't for bad luck, you might have none at all. That is quite the story. Nothing of value ever happens easily. All through your transformation, the service was still first rate. Face it, whatever you are doing seems to be working.
Price increases are happening across the board game world as well. I have been hearing shipping quotes for a 40' container is running upwards of $25000
I didn't know that about the power shortages, how on earth does a thing like that happens? Especially with how the Chinese are with building things in basically no time at all
China and Australia got into a little spat, and the Chinese banned Australian coal. Unfortunately the local coal industry has struggled to pick up the slack. With luck they will kiss and make up soon and we can get back to getting our kits in a timely fashion again.
Good Luck, Sorry to hear about price increases. Kits are already too High. When the average person making 20 bucks an hour must work 5 hours to buy a 100 kit, its getting to the point of becoming unaffordable to the average guy with a family.
I can understand the need to increase prices for some companies of a few dollars/ pounds but if they hyper inflate them i think there will be a decline in the hobby and i don't want to see that yet.
As a past owner of a hobby shop and aftermarket biz.....you guys are making a HUGE investment. Makes me feel positive about the hobby. Best of luck and thanks.
I've worked in warehouses for over 25 years. You're doing a great job in getting it set up. It looks great.
Hi Andy, this is Mauro from Brazil. Congratulations, I wish you much success !!!
Gods speed on your business Andy and warehouse!!!!
Cheers!!!
We are planning a trip from Albuquerque to Phoenix within the next few months, in no small part just to finally visit your store. Can't wait!!
Appreciate you explaining all the current economics and logistics that are behind our much loved hobby. Still looking forward to all those announced upcoming releases.
I don't envy you Andy lots to do in over 100 degree heat....Best of luck and take care of yourselves.
Very cool. Congratulations. Hope and pray the business succeeds.

Hello Andy, I appreciate your videos. Godspeed to you on the wear house and your business. Mike
great behind the scene look at warehouse and state of the hobby
Nice . So awesome you're doing enough business you can have a warehouse like that.
Thanks, Andy that tour reminded me of the time the old Great Models Webstore (now Sprue Bros) had an openhouse and I got to go shopping inside the biggest hobby store I'd ever seen.
Congrats!
Nice update Andy, looking good!!!!! 👍👍👍
As a senior, I had to switch to building stash and buying older often robbed kits. Still fun...and affordable

Good insight to the issues in the hobby Andy; had heard about this offline but now explains àlot of new release delays and price rises
I’m so happy you moved you warehouse out of Portland. I’d hate to see something happen.👍🏻👍🏻
Great to see things coming along! 😁
Wow Andy well done... my idea of heaven with a warehouse like this.
Andy
It looks great!!!
It would be great to make the journey to your shop!!!
That's quite an operation. Looks good.
Thanks for peek at the back side of your business...

Getting to see how the sausage is made is pretty cool. Need some model related art on the walls.
Really nice warehouse! Congratulations
wwwuuooooo Andy felicitaciones es grandioso ver como crecen y que sigan creciendo en el mundo del modelismo muuuuuuy bueno
Nice, will try and support your efforts.

If the show wasn't half way across the country I would be there to shake your hand.
great stuff Andy the warehouse looks amazing.
I can't wait to see the follow up video of the collection!
Im looking forward to several Takom kits that are supposed to be out soon so I check your website everyday.
When I was driving for Knight Transportation, I rolled into Phoenix to our HQ and it was 119. :-(
Hi Andy the warehouse is looking great
I’m going through the same phase as you Andy, setting up my model work shop, only 1M x smaller 😎
I'm hoping you are gonna do a white box sale! A box with all different models and maybe some of the bagged things.
Are the kits safe in that heat?. Love your channel, kudos on the giant stash
Andy congratulations!!!!! Regards from Colombia

Put in a large tent inside and use them as cooling rooms
Looks great Andy, how long till there is a warehouse sale?
Awesome warehouse!
If I was one of those electricians installing your lights, I wouldn't get any work done!! I would be to busy looking down on all those shelves filled with wonderful kits, lol.
Here in the UK, we are not having a heatwave. Today, my location will have a max of 16C (60.8F).

Around the world ?
Is it improving or still stalled
What a terrific video Andy
Thank you for bringing a fresh fun and view of the hobby
Super!!!!
NO.
Reminds me of my stash in the early days :)
I wonder how much is one giant box of model kit?
O wauw.....This must be a real dream came thrue.
What is done with all unsold stock. Or do you have a quick turnover????
Very quick turn around
Wasn't there a song that said "Don't go to Phoenix in the summer"?
The world has changed. I liked the look of one of your vintage model cars - it was wooden! Maybe that's the future?
Looks good, are you going to go higher on the racks? To bad you're 2500 miles away...
I'm planning on attending the Nationals, and was also going to swing down from Vegas and visit your shop. What days will you be open during that part of August?
We will be closed a few days during nationals
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters Thanks! Will you be open the Monday before the Nationals?

Will you be carrying the Airfix Thunderbirds line?
Power shortages are quite common in China, they often rotate power grids around certain industries
Looks like you need one of the Big Ass Fans evaporative coolers like the Cold Front 500.
i know stock is very limited but if you get some 1/16 tanks in ill be ordering a few
Opening the door to your warehouse is like me opening the door to my stash … then I wake up
Great shop! How can I contact you to place an order. Interested in cars, ships ,and planes.
Andy,I know your busy, but I need your help. I need a 1969 copo nova. I don’t know how to find one.
Are any kits made in America currently?
Price increases are happening across the board game world as well. I have been hearing shipping quotes for a 40' container is running upwards of $25000
yes it is
what is a swamp cooler?
very cool sir
I didn't know that about the power shortages, how on earth does a thing like that happens? Especially with how the Chinese are with building things in basically no time at all
in one word Communism.
A huge hydro-electric plant went off-line in China recently.
That might explain the power shortage.
In one word California.
China and Australia got into a little spat, and the Chinese banned Australian coal. Unfortunately the local coal industry has struggled to pick up the slack. With luck they will kiss and make up soon and we can get back to getting our kits in a timely fashion again.
I hate saying this .
I'm glad I have a stash to work with as prices get higher all over .. Good luck as hyperinflation takes over.
Are you open on Mondays?
Can i build atleast 1% of these kits
Good Luck, Sorry to hear about price increases. Kits are already too High. When the average person making 20 bucks an hour must work 5 hours to buy a 100 kit, its getting to the point of becoming unaffordable to the average guy with a family.
do you stock airfix
That was great
Looks like you've got a couple thousand just in pallet wood there Andy.😁
You guys hiring for the warehouse? I been a customer for a few years would love to work for a hobby shop
Better not let that plastic warp.
I was thinking the same thing! I received some warped kits from Squadron, when they were in Texas. I figured it was do to a super hot warehouse.
Andy, how many cardboard boxes of car models did there end up being?
@Randall Johnson holy cow! 😯
I look at your shop and warehouse and wonder, "A full day or a full paycheck - what would come first?"
Ahhh…the joys of a retail business owner…🙂…
Shades of MMD in Arizona. Let the online wars begin!
Automobile kits ? 🤔
Dunno if you're a Millionaire Andy, if not you damn well ought to be !!
Are recycled materials used in the manufacturing of model kits of any kind!!!?????
Modelbau-Koenig gonna be jealous
it's time to bring manufacturing back in the U.S.A !
Excellent point !!!
I second that!!!!
Yep, and then you can complain that kit prices have doubled. ;-)
@@leedove7255 We're human we're never happy about anything .
How can you give money away and not expect prices to rise
Not good that your warehouse gets that hot. Those plastic model kits might be effected by that heat.
the out side temp is very insaide it isn't that hot
Im not surprised you moved away from Portland with all that's going on up there
Pirtlandistan
Andy will become MBK in america 😁
your seem to be a good company but if i buy somethinh it would cost me a gazilion in shiping to sweden :(
I can understand the need to increase prices for some companies of a few dollars/ pounds but if they hyper inflate them i think there will be a decline in the hobby and i don't want to see that yet.
Imagine some one building an electricity plant for a few mil Just to have cheaper kits
10:20 Just give me ten minutes in there and an exit path ;-)
