    Where did the burrs go. I use a small punch to expand the opening.

    Even though this thing is a trash heap, I would at least spend 5 dollars on a delay on break switch to go in line with that series H.P., L.P. safety. That way if the system starts to run out of gas, it won't short cycle the compressor to death. Great channel. I would love to be back in the field some day but with things they way they are, im happy to have a job that has benefits.

    I'm getting ready to add A/C to our house in the Philippines. As with most residential A/C overseas, it's a split unit. They have a Carrier and a Samsung unit to chose from. I told my nephew to buy the Carrier. Also, since I have three bedroom that will eventually have A/C, I asked for him to see if there are outside condenser units, that can accommodate more than one indoor evaporator. I learned all this terminology from you. There are, but my nephew made a good point, that with multiple condensers, if one goes bad, I have backups. Not so with the multi-evaporator model. So, for our first bedroom, I'm just going with a single unit.

      Carrier doesn't make their own mini-splits. They're all made in asia to varying degrees of quality.

    • @phaedrus2633

      @@Jon-hx7pe Is Carrier even made in the U.S? I didn't even think it was. Regardless, I'd prefer it to a Samsung. Samsung appliances here in the U.S. are pretty poor quality from what I've seen on RUclips appliance repair videos.

      @@phaedrus2633 The carrier conventional ducted systems are made in carrier factories in usa and mexico, with parts from usa, mexico as well as all over the world.
      The minis are made by other companies in asian countries for carrier. mini-split is not a north american invention.
      The quality control and support on minis made for carrier should be better than off-brands even when they're made in the same factories.

      @@Jon-hx7pe From what I've seen in the Philippines, you buy based on the warranty. You may well have a bad unit, and I've seen this happen with appliances, but they're pretty good about swapping bad ones out.

    Newbie here... I'm curious why no back purge with nitrogen was not used while brazing? or why no cleaning the soldering joints prior to cutting the pipes? wouldn't you be concerned after de-burring ?? I would be concerned that the burrs would fall into the lines. Thanks for sharing.

    Just to be sure i understood you went from Y from inside then connect to low pressure,then combine low/high pressure, then high pressure to contactor because you couldn't have Y go straight to contactor because you had to have the pressure switches on the 24v circuit?

  • @fldave612
    @fldave612 Год назад +2

    I think these companies use those style switches without the schraders because they are incredibly cheap and clearly they do not care about how cumbersome it would be to replace them, most manufacturers warranty only the part(s) themselves, and usually not the labor costs replacement of refrigerant and other incidental costs. In all likelihood, the unit would be out of warranty by the time pressure switches would fail. I've seen some DIY's, handymen, and maintenance techs cheat and install swivel tees on the service ports and thread new pressure switches onto one side of the tee, not sure how reliable that would be over the long run and slowly leak out over time. I do have a couple questions. 1. I noticed at 3:53 the way you deburred that tube, is there a risk that copper fragments would fall into the system and cause a restriction to a TXV valve or a capillary tube? 2. Is there a reason you opted for MAPP gas vs. oxyacetylene? 3. Isn't it necessary to flow nitrogen when brazing to avoid oxidation of the inside of the lines?

    Again with all that work for a lousy pressure switch. $20 dollar part ends up costing client hundreds and hundreds in recovery, evacuation, welding , nitrogen testing and labour. Joe I’ve been in this game for 40+ years and made lots of money doing this same thing and made the repairs the same way with replaceable switches. Only people happy are the bosses able to count that billing money. The old hvac guy in Toronto.👍👍🇨🇦

      I'm trying to help a neighbor on his Trane XR with this problem and that's the way to fix this drunk engineer nightmare. Excellent solution Alex,,,, I was trying to figure a way to get them out of there and more accessible. The more I see inside mine and a few others I can't believe how cheaply constructed they are and be worth 13-$16K. Thanks again.

    from a consumer standpoint, why don't ac manufacturers put schrader valves in ALL low and high pressure switch nipples?! it would add about $5 to $10 to cost of each unit, which is essentially nothing! i just had my low line pressure switch replaced on a 2.5 year old unit and it cost me $700!!! total joke! i farkin HATE ac manufacturers for sticking it to the customer like this through poor design spec.

    why on earth doesn't the manufacturer include schrader valves so you don't have to recover and braze to change pressure switches? Save $1 per unit? 🤑
