    This is so encouraging. I just started my health journey because I noticed my health was so bad I couldn’t love my family well or worship from being overly fatigued and in constant pain. I didn’t feel like reading, praying, or fellowshipping. But now that I do focus on my health through movement and food, I’m much more able and eager to do the latter. Praise God for movement.

    I’m 17 and I’ve been struggling a lot lately with desiring a body that catches eyes. I have been in so much turmoil trying to fight those prideful thoughts of seeking a “ripped” body just for the sole purpose of trying to have an attractive physique, which is lust at its roots. I pray and ask God to take my eyes away from the mirror and to set my mind on things above, not the lusts of the flesh, which includes wanting others to lust after you. God has been helping me conquer this so much recently and this video is very timely, praise God.

      If you want to be ripped it’s not a sin …. Don’t be so religious in your thinking … it’s not a sin to want to have your best body … people spend thousands on clothes and cars and all day at work but barely pray and read there bibles …. Maybe there is a woman prating that God give her a man in great shape and God put it in your heart to want to be in great shape… look it’s not a sin …

      Your young. Even older guys get caught up lol I get it though little bro. But realize no matter how strong you are, you cannot move the planet that God made. Yet, faith can do more than your body itself. But never give up. Exercise your all safely, as if you are preparing to move the world but keep in mind that it is and can be vanity. But it's only vanity with the wrong perspective. Though we realize that all is vanity as Ecclesiastes says, yet not vain when considering what proverbs says, work with all your might. Incorporate Christ in this and you can be a witness in the gym and the results God gives you will motivate another to be healthy and well and maybe more. You can humbly be strength. Your true strength will also depend on your heart and spirit. Easy healthy and well too.

So don’t be to difficult on yourself and try your best as you live and learn you will naturally workout for yourself to feel healthy and perform it’s tasks and the rest of your time and energy can be spent on your passions and life’s purpose

    When I am healthy (higher energy, more strength, minimal injuries and sicknesses), I am better equipped to serve others. Simple steps to start with are basic strength exercises and something that gets your heart rate up (e.g. running or biking), sleeping enough, drinking plenty of water, eating healthily (enough calories, protein, vegetables) and minimizing processed foods and high sugar foods. Give it a try! 🙂

    I love his distinction of being "fit" rather than being "athletic", "jacked", "shredded" or "sexy". Because that itself gives a very empowering reason to continue or start working out or moving around. "Fit for what?" I love that. There really is no purpose in being jacked, shredded, or sexy in of themselves. Persuing that is about the flesh and degrades our value into our appearance and others' judgment on that (1 Samuel 16:7). Now, working on fitness or athleticism can bring you to jacked, shredded, and sexy and that's awesome as those things are not wrong themselves. I just love that though, be fit to always be capable of doing good works to serve God. Physical labor is often in high demand for brothers and sisters in the congregation, and is a great way to serve those in need in general. Great stuff and thank you D.G.!

      I've been struggling to develop the right attitude towards and I have some questions. I know you may not be an expert in this area, but I will be satisfied with a simple exchange of thoughts. If being e.g. "athletic" or "physically attractive" is not wrong , can we label it as good[since I have heard some people say that there are only good and evil things, based on the passage from the bible which states "all unrighteousness is sin"(if it works vice versa)]? And if being physically attratctive is good, then isn't desiring to be physically attractive(e.g to please your spouse) a good desire(If you suppose that being physically attractive is a good thing) ? I know it is wrong to desire to impress others with your physical appearance, but what if the goal is to e.g. please your spouse or get rid of the insecurities about one's body(in case someone is e.g. obese)? As you see these are just my unsure speculations, since my opinion on this has not yet fully formed. A response would be appreciated.

      @@saltb2867 Paul Washer had a great statement where he said that beauty is not wrong in the eyes of God but sensuality is wrong. Think of God's craftsmanship and how He creates and it's easy to see that God is not opposed to beauty. He also instructs skilled craftsmen in the building of the temple and its furnishings. In the Bible, there are places where it talks of people look good in their form and appearance. These things aren't wrong in and of themselves. They become vain and sinful if done in an attempt to stroke our pride or when we let our adornment be merely the outward appearance. As Peter talks about, let our adornment be primarily focused on the inside. I think it's also important to remember that our physical form in no way equates to our value and will break down and perish so we must always keep it in perspective and focus first and primarily on the eternal things that matter rather than the temporal, but even Paul when writing Timothy speaks about their being some value in physical exercise. God bless.

Then I realized that mentality was part of a flawed perspective, I had missed the point. This talk is laying a foundation for WHY we should be a people who move - to be fit for every good work, and in that work we honor Christ. The point is not for us to strive for fitness in itself and then say "Look how fit I am, all glory to God."

      The Bible says that you should deny yourself not loving yourself. The motives for our physical activity should be to be good administrators of the body that God has given us in order to be helpful for others and do other goods. Better health helps us to use our bodies to be ready in serve our families, our brothers and sisters, those in the world that are in need. So not for ourselves or love of ourselves but to put our lives in servitude to others

    • @allonesea
      @allonesea 3 года назад +3

      Don’t let anyone tell you you shouldn’t love yourself. Many Christians will twist scriptures to make it seem like we shouldn’t love ourselves. There is a good way to love yourself and a bad way to love yourself. Just like our tongue can be used for good or for evil. You are deserving of love. God loves the world and we are to be conformed to the image of God. We are an inseparable part of the world and hopefully part of God’s kingdom. If God loves us so much that He gave His Son for our sake, why are we to think that we are to hate what God gave the ultimate sacrifice to save because of His divine love for all of us?

      @@Alex1233192 We are to be loving and giving beings, to everyone and everything.
      I used to think that having a dog was a waste of time because that care could be spent on another person. Then I realized caring for a dog can be the first step toward becoming loving and caring. Some people who get dogs do a better job caring for themselves because they realize the dog needs them. We tend to hate ourselves, at the same time as we naturally love ourselves in a selfish way. The self hatred comes from self-righteousness, because at some level we believe that if we had just tried harder we could have been good enough for God to accept us on our own merits. Self hatred can't help but change us into more hateful people, towards other and God as well. Having God's heart means caring about all of humanity, including you.

      @@Alex1233192 We are supposed to hate sin, and sin dwells in our flesh. I believe this is where Jesus says we should deny ourselves in Matthew 16 and again Jesus says we should hate ourselves--in my opinion, Jesus is saying we should hate the sin that is in our flesh and not live our lives according to the way of that indwelling sin. Rather we should live our lives by the way of the indwelling Spirit of Christ. One of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is that we would be loving, and Paul writes that Love is greater than Faith and Hope in 1 Corinthians 13. From these instances, and other parables especially the parable of the Prodigal Son, I believe that Jesus wants us to be loving in ourselves, as He is loving in His nature. He does not want any of us to perish because He loves us so much, that was the point of the sacrifice of his only son on the cross. It is His love for all of us, that he wants us to show to everyone as an example of followers of Jesus. The only reason we know what love is is because God loved us first. And this love we receive from Him, we receive in ourselves as a new heart and a new mind. Then the love of God is perfected inside of us. And then we are able to love other people, as we love ourselves.

    Loved this video, Jesus calls on us to take the narrow gate for wide is the gate that leads to destruction. It is easy to take the wide gate, to sin and be led down that path. On the contrary our walk in faith is not always an easy one. We face tests and trials all throughout life. In lifting and bodybuilding it is easy to be complacent and lazy. It is easy to take one too many cheat days all too often. It is easy to “let ourselves go”. It is hard to stay disciplined, have self control and stay focused on worshiping God, our goals and our training. Take the narrow path in faith, and in fitness✝️💪

      There’s nothing wrong with working out, however motive is everything, People work out for a whole host of reasons, ie to improve physical health, to lose weight in order to reverse conditions like high cholesterol levels or type 2 diabetes, others work out for professional reasons ie in order to pass a fitness test to join the marines. Prison officers, police officers, firefighters, body guards etc workout for obvious reasons. Working out becomes an issue if the motive is wrong eg for vanity or just to attract girls. Ironically, not exercising, being obese and bingeing on junk food is probably sin as it implies lack of self control, greed, sloth, and over indulgence . Moderation is everything

      I, too, do not know your circumstance or background, but if I may also be allowed to assume as I recall times where I’ve felt unable to move and useless...do not allow your thoughts to focus on others who are more mobile or better functioning than you or even just pain free (that is to covet.) Do not allow your thoughts to compare yourself to man. But fix your thoughts on Christ who bore absolute pain and suffering, yet rose again. His resurrection is the promise of eternal life. This life here was meant to be broken down. All forms will be shaken. But it is in eternity where we will have our new bodies, to be with God...pain free. Our hope is in what’s ahead with Christ. Look there. Fight for it. The evil one wants you focused on what doesn’t work because he hates you. Do not let him deceive you. You have an advocate in Christ. He will help you fight this battle (which is only a vapor in time when compared to eternity.) But you have to put your faith and trust in Him. And on days when you don’t feel like it, lean on other brothers and sisters to help carry your load. This is part of what the church does. (If you don’t have one, please look for one.) And as you continue to walk with the Lord, you will see His purpose for you...pained, broken, and all. No suffering or pain is wasted when we have Him. We just have to let go of this world and it’s wrong thinking first. I will be praying for you. Fight!
