We've been to the Maldives 4 times in a row (and will travel again in a few months), and on the first trip we quickly learned the importance of 2 things (at least for our fam): 1. The restort we stay at has to have a good kidsclub, and 2. Under no circumstance we will go to Maldives with anything under full board/all incl package. There is just nothing like peace of mind of not having to think and calculate cost of meals during such a dreamy vacation. It's our absolute favorite place!
Went to conrad maldives in 2021. I to play the CC game. We stayed 12 nights with points/free night certificates. Going back January 2024 for 12 nights the same way, points / free night certificates. Flying qatar Qsuites there. Best way for the total of hours it takes. Tips: get all CC from America express for hilton honors. During happy hour, Get a couple of cokes each (small plastic bottles) to take with you. Coke is $10 a bottle. Take them to breakfast & dinner to save $$.
Yes! Thank you guys so much for posting this. Seeing the breakdowns and hacks are videos my wife and I love seeing to see if we can afford vacations like these.
Thank you so much for you transparentness with the cost associated with your trip! This was so helpful in deciding/planning a trip to the Maldives ! I am so glad you got to travel there and had such an amazing time. Can’t wait to watch move of your travel videos. 🙂
I saw Conrad last year passing on a seaplane to Radisson Blu, the island was quite photogenic, thanx for the video my next trip with my wife to the maldives will be to conrad
I really enjoyed this budget breakdown video. This is helping me a lot on my upcoming trip there in November. Thanks so much....I also enjoy y'all interaction with one another.
We flew a round about way to get there, because we were using employee flight perks. We went from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, Then over to Abu Dhabi, and down to Male
I loved that you did this video. Its all I ever think about while watching. Question---you mention not quite getting enough points and having to buy some etc...doesnt that mean you cant use points for awhile as you need to start earning again? But dont you keep going on vacations? You must not be able to use points all the time
No, we don't use points all the time, but we do use them a lot, at least for hotels. We put all of the money we spend our our trips on business cards (which have good travel points options) For example, on this trip we used our hilton honors card, so everything we spent at the resort was charged to this card and received 12x points, so we were able to re-up pretty quick. When we don't use points, We have a friend who works for Hilton, so we are able to get a friends and family discount some times, and other times we stay at airbnb's or camp to save on accommodation. Usually the points are for the nice resorts, or cities that have really expensive hotels.
We did not have any issues bringing to the Maldives, but I have heard that you might have issues if you transit through UAE with new regulations there, so just read up on that before you go. As for the resort..... the resort we went to did allow drone flights in a small designated area, but they were pretty strict about it and they required you to let them know about your time and flight plan. I think the main concern was the privacy of the other guests (they really hammered in that they didn't want me to fly over rooms) . After explaining that we were filming for youtube videos, they granted us permission to fly in a few other spots, but it was still pretty limited. You also have to be really careful about the sea planes, because they fly all the time, fly really low, and they are everywhere
Going for a cheap holiday in the Maldives is like going for a quiet holiday in New York City, or a warm holiday in Antarctica, or safe holiday in Syria... If you pay a lot of credit card interest, you can get 'free' reward points that reduce the room rate, but you will pay a fortune in food & drink & transfers. So its like, accept that if you go there, you will pay a lot, or go somewhere else. Maybe if you book at the last minute during the quiet season you can save, but not everyone can realistically do that. Still probably worth the heavy price as a once in a lifetime trip though.
It's definitely an expensive trip, But there are ways to save money, It will never be as cheap as southeast asia or somewhere like that, but this is more of a bucketlist trip
Great video and very informative. I would like to see the budget breakdowns to see if the average person like me can afford to go on vacations like these
Maldives is expensive. I went to Gili Lankanfushi (one of the most expensive resorts), Baros, One and Only eethi Rah, Paradise Island Resort and Meeru Island Resort. I'll say Paradise and Meeru were reasonably priced even during the peak season of Feb and March - that was the time I went to Maldives on each occasion
The amount of points per night varies by date, and if you do a search of several nights and even one of them is a higher points price, the entire stay will show as that price. And Hilton properties are always book 4 rewards nights and get the 5th free, if there's availability for your dates
I think the breakdown is mainly about resorts but not in locals areas.resort in Indian ocean are really expensive especially those away from main cities, town or isolated islands
@@TheAwkwardTourists You’re totally right. My apologies. I thought you meant 10k per night haha. It’s 10k per night for the underwater room. Great video.
Awesome videos! 3rd year Diamond with Hilton and about 1/2M points. How did you find 95k per night? Also the room you booked allowed the 5th night reward? Is it true that certain categories of room do not allow reward night? TIA
We got really lucky at finding that rate, We checked and changed our dates around a lot to lock in that price and it was gone quick, so I recommend that you just keep looking for the dates you are trying to go and hopefully you can find a deal. For us it changed day to day. I'm not sure about certain categories of room not allowing the reward night. We were able to get the 5th night reward for the sunset overwater villa without problem
Yes that's the initial bonus, and then you have to earn points by using the card and staying at Hiltons. They're not going to give you multiple nights at a 5 star property just for spending $1k. 95k Libya per night is a great price for that property
Maldives are sooo overrated.... India is next to them and heavily they import food, and Consumer products ..its cheap for them since its just 2-3 hrs short flight from Indian cities... and y these high prices... Just for name of it.... Infact negligible money goes to locals n all taken by hotel brands
Be sure to watch all our Maldives videos here!

Currently at the Conrad Maldives and you guys gave us the idea of buying cup noodles and bringing a ton of snacks for our trip!
Awesome! That saved us a ton of money. Did you get the buffet breakfast too?
I saw Conrad last year passing on a seaplane to Radisson Blu, the island was quite photogenic, thanx for the video my next trip with my wife to the maldives will be to conrad
Cool! The view from those seaplane rides is so beautiful!

How did you fly there?
We flew a round about way to get there, because we were using employee flight perks. We went from Los Angeles to Frankfurt, Then over to Abu Dhabi, and down to Male

Really good video guys but I have a question. How did you do with the drone? I heard something like some of the resorts don't allow u to bring it?

Which Sunrise Villa has a full pool?
Thanks for the details. I'm ready to go!!
Nice! Hope you have a good trip!
When can you get the room for 95000 points? All i see is 120000 pts. Per night
You definitely have to look often, and sometimes change your dates around. The points calendar helps with that
Great video and very informative. I would like to see the budget breakdowns to see if the average person like me can afford to go on vacations like these

This is very helpful. How far in advance did you search for award nights at the Conrad?
This was great especially as a first time . good job
Glad you enjoyed it!
Definitely like budget breakdown, thank you!,
Thanks Melany! We will be making more of them
Conrad is now 120k/night. 5th night free is very difficult to find.

Thank You for doing this. You guys are awesome.
Thanks Dean!
When is a good season/month to visit weather wise?
November to April is the best season weather wise. You might get some rain and humidity in the summer months
You two are so awesome for this 💯 thank you so much ☺️ please do more videos like this. 👀✅😁
We will! Thank you!
I think the breakdown is mainly about resorts but not in locals areas.resort in Indian ocean are really expensive especially those away from main cities, town or isolated islands
The breakdown is about what we spent, and we went to a resort so that's what we talked about
Can you combine business and personal card point
Yes you can. It's pretty easy to transfer cards to another card, You can usually do it right on the bank website
Is it really worth going if you are just gonna be cheap the whole time!
Absolutely it's worth going
Hi, I think you accidentally made an error. The room you booked didn’t cost 7k-10k. It’s about $700-1000. The underwater room is 7k-10k.
The room we stayed in, for 5 nights, would have cost us that much. We don't guess, we make sure to do our homework
@@TheAwkwardTourists You’re totally right. My apologies. I thought you meant 10k per night haha. It’s 10k per night for the underwater room. Great video.

I’ve been checking for a long time too and haven’t seen it for 95k 😐
I like this type of videos.! Thanks!
Glad you like them!
Does food isn't included in the resort booking 😕???
Our resort did not include food in the booking. (except for breakfast from our diamond status) Some resorts do include food though
Thanks for the informative video
Our Pleasure! Thanks!
95k points per night? Hilton Amex card only offers 100k points for $1000 initial spending
Yes that's the initial bonus, and then you have to earn points by using the card and staying at Hiltons. They're not going to give you multiple nights at a 5 star property just for spending $1k. 95k Libya per night is a great price for that property
Very informative! 👍🏻
Thank you, we tried to provide some useful tips in there
Amazing video. Thank you.
Thank you too!
Can you make one for Maui
If we go back , we definitely will. We went last year, but we weren't good with our bookkeeping back then, so we don't have that info
Pleaae do more Price Breakdown videos...
Will do! Thanks for the input
Guess I need more $$$.
This is just how much we spent. You can definitely do a Maldives trip for cheaper.
Maldives are sooo overrated.... India is next to them and heavily they import food, and Consumer products
