Dude...I've been wanting a RTS on console. I saw this title, bought it, played it, and love it....still miss my AoE3 Also, I barely found your channel and subscribed. As I played I thought to myself if you had reviewed this game yet..I enter in the title into the RUclips search bar and the FIRST result is you!! Legit 💯
Apollo, a word of advice? For next video on this game, remember - Spears > Great Weapons > Shields > Spears ;) And never send your whole army in a fight at once, you can get outflanked. P.S. When you cap A you could've rushed for H to deny income to their team and force them to recap while you hit the other side, it's pretty much what they did - hit 1 flank, fall back, hit the other flank, repeat... Oh, and GG... your only mistake was you were TOO defensive, you never engaged their half of the map.
Your main problem was probably that you tried to swarm single enemy units with several of your own at the same time. That's a waste. Both of units and opportunity. Not retreating all the units when they were down to 1-3 men still alive was a bit of a waste, but unless you do that too much, it's not too serious of a problem. 1) Any one melee unit can fight off any other unit for a brief time 2) Try to keep some in reserve to fight off or delay enemy reinforcements 3) Flanking is very useful and if you charge 5 units headon, not all of them can actually participate in the battle against one unit. But if you instead charge one or two head on, then send the others slightly around the flank, it'll both kill their morale quickly and kill their troops quicker. Also, traps, unit upgrades and blessings quicker would've probably helped a lot.
As a company of heroes well veteran I'm really casual player in it (I don't know this game that well) may I suggest that you retreat your troops more often it worked in coh when you are down to like 2 men retreat instantly it is always cheaper to reinforce and also you should learn the hot keys it helps out a lot with microing hope this can help in the future Apollo by the way great vid cheers
Hey Apollo, you should play this one medieval game called "Darkest Dungeon" which is a very difficult game and is based on fighting really gross and creepy monsters and reclaiming your ancestors estate. The art is really good, it's a sort of 2D art but with a 3D vibe, it's really similar to this game's title screen art.
Apollo, the t.v. show vikings isnt over, they just take a lot of mid season breaks, I'm pretty sure they have at least 1 more season after the current one

This game is Micro intensive you can get faster but the AI can multitask unless you slow it down to perform economic upgrades the AI will swarm you. Great tip on the arrow towers on the front. I noticed that the AI retreats his weakened troops to heal while yours are fighting to the death. If you can figure a way to disengage weakened units while streaming fresh troops to the front. Sort of like the way ants work a thin long supply line. the grasshopper sees only a few ants at a time before he realizes it he is partitioned up at the bottom of the ant hole.
I've also recently started watching Vikings and loving it. I wish Total war did a game in the time period but I'm assuming thrones is going to be the closest to it. maybe a dlc? I hope

12 minutes in and im thinking "DAMNIT APOLLO you don't play this game like you do total war!" the very first units the anglo-saxons can recruit are slingers. All you can do to counter them and remove them from battle is rush to tier 3, get the shield bearers and when they are low on health, use their skill "pin down" to keep them in battle and kill their entire unit. EDIT: with the Vikings, you have to use the blacksmith to research higher resource gain and lower food useage for your units. If your moral falls completely, your units will lose almost their entire will to fight and be near useless in battle. You have to upgrade each unit individually with armor to allow them to survive longer in battle. form a spear wall to block enemy charges, etc.
Berserkers cant retreat because they are meant to die in battle if the fight can not be won in history berserkers were animalistic warriors who were in a trance that made them almost undefeatable

always retreat low units and keep uprading armor. About half way trough the game the enemy had chainmail but your guys were still naked
