I think honestly Nintendo is terrified to move on from the Switch. For a few reasons. One it seems like the architecture might be similar enough to the current switch that they are worried about emulation. It seems like the only reason they could be just going this insane after people trying to deter them. Second Nintendo merged their handhelds with their home consoles. Nintendo has always had great success with the handhelds but they have never had two back to back major successes in the home market. The only one you could argue is NES to SNES. Third is kind of part of the second one but because of this merging of portable and home consoles it has actually taken a hit to console sales overall at times. For instance the DS sold over 150 million units and at the same time they had the original Wii that sold over 100 million. So while the Switch is approaching 150 million it still is not selling as much hardware as before. That isn't the complete concern though. The concern is Nintendo could always rely on the GBA, or DS, or 3DS to carry the load if they had a bad gen. Gamecube's less then 22 million sales against PS2's 150 million and the Wii U selling a mere 13.5 million. If they have another Gamecube or Wii U situation without the secondary hardware to keep them going it would be a major disaster for Nintendo. The removal of the dedicated portable puts them in a much more vulernable position should a home console fail. Again they haven't found success in home consoles in back to back consoles. Gamecube less than 22 million, to Wii that did over 100 million, to Wii U that fell to 13.5 million, then to Switch that is trying to reach that 150 million mark.
It would be great if they annouce Chrono Trigger for Switch in some way. If would be great if SE did an HD-2D remake on it like they are doing for Dragon Quest III
My thoughts would be that in September or October Nintendo announces a price cut on their current switch lineups for the systems. This would help sell more units for the holiday season especially since with prices on there consoles are high and maybe parents can’t afford those would go to the Nintendo Switch especially since its both a console and handheld device. Again just my opinion.

I don't think we get a next gen Switch reveal until October the earliest. They are putting out another edition of the Switch Lite they are trying to sell with Zelda on Sept 26 and they don't do a direct or reveal of a new game or product that would litteraly hinder the sales of what ever they are trying to sell within a sales period of 2-3 weeks. Whenever Nintendo was releaseing a 1st party game (even if it wasn't triple A) they have always given it 2-3 weeks before they did a direct or announcment of a new Switch game so I think it will be true of consoles as well. We may get a Nintendo Direct in September that just focuses on the remaining 1st party ports for the Switch that we all know have been stuck in limbo for some time, but I am thinking 2nd to third week of October we get something that reveals what the next gen Switch is and what it does; if not then we not seeing it this year.
I would have rather a partner showcase but what heck. It's the indie developers that's saving the gaming industry today. I just hope we get 45min worth of new games.

Switch 2 Direct won't happen until March with a possible release date of Christmas 2025. This is not a leak but a educated guess.
