      I am learning to be guided by sound on this machine, apparently the IDs are more stable than on the original Deus but it's definitely a tonal machine. Thanks Ray! I think there's pros and cons to both machines, I'd like to talk about them in a future video - just need to get myself organised. I have taken the D2 into one playground so far, I don't normally do them (I prefer to hit the less common areas that people don't think to detect) but I think having the smaller 9" coil would help - Paystreak Superfreak did a recent video testing his around all the metal structures and seeing what settings worked best. Sorry mate, I can see the notification for your reply here but for some reason the comment isn't showing. You asked whether I could detect on the beach that squeaks, yes? It is part of a national park, so while I believe there may be an exception for the intertidal zone (between high and low tide marks) it is generally a no-go area. Just as well I've got plenty of alternative beaches. Cheers :)

    Fun! Sounds to me like that instrument was handing the black sand pretty well. Beginning my chattery mind dump now: The copper mystery item looks like some sort of battery terminal but that’s just a guess judging by what appears to be wire attachments. I was hoping you were going to find less lead sinkers on the beach than you do in the parks😆😆
    2015, I had a divorce! It was peaceful👍 Silver coins yay! I love that you tuned into that faint whisper tone, you’re a pro. That bracelet is beautiful. As an experiment, separate the bracelet from the locket and bury the two, scan them again with different programs! Perform the experiment both in the Blacksand beaches and the regular beaches. Once you’ve modified a few settings and are getting the results you like, save the setting. It’s nice that you can use a base program to launch, adjust it and then save it. Next time you go back use your saved setting and compare it against the original. Modify whichever one seems more appropriate at that time on that day. Great show! 🤗

    • @DirtFishMish

      The mystery item has been identified as the end of a very large fuse as it had some porcelain inside the rim. You'll see more sinkers from parks in the coming few videos, because I am cursed like that! 🤣
      I'd love to test the bracelet separated from the locket but after the effort it took to clean it up, I won't be risking losing or discolouring the flippin' thing again. 😆 I do like your tips though so thank you! Cheers :)

    Goodmorning Mish, well that was well worth the wait, silvers are always great to pull out of the ground, and anything that shows even a hint of gold, gets the heart pumping, but jumping to conclusions can hit you like a bag of sinkers, and you didn't do that, so definitely no disappointment there, I tried to identify the hall marks, but really couldn't make them out properly, they looked a bit sand worn, the second mark looked like an S, but its the shape of the stamp mark that truly defines its year, sorry I couldn't help, but just the same, what a great find! have you had any luck identifying it since. Mish brings home the gold! Cheers!

    • @DirtFishMish
      @DirtFishMish  2 года назад

      G'day Wayne! The second mark is a '9' for 9ct, it's the first mark that I'm stumped on. It's basically an upside-down U (or a horseshoe?) with a horizontal bar underneath. Still haven't found out any further but another viewer estimated it to be from 1880-1900 😳 which is absolutely mind-boggling. Cheers!!

      Gosh you'd love this place then, it's a copper nail paradise! 😆 I couldn't believe the bracelet was gold, it felt so light - but I'm told that perhaps the links had been filled with another material, and that has decayed over time leaving them hollow. You know, rather than dumping out all the sand, you could just 'jig' the scoop up and down and the all the sand and small stuff will just sieve through the holes in your scoop leaving the find behind.
    If you do it over your hole, it'll fill the hole up too so you don't have to kick it all back in with your foot
    #TheMoreYouKnow!
    😁

    • @DirtFishMish
      @DirtFishMish  2 года назад +1

      Thanks, however it 100% doesn't work with this beach. This sand clumps and doesn't sift efficiently. Plus with a mixed hole scoop like mine, it doesn't have good sifting holes in the middle.
      I have a smaller scoop with larger holes that does this better but even it struggles on this sand.
      Cheers! :)

    • @DirtFishMish
      @DirtFishMish  2 года назад +1

      I think regardless of my end configuration of machines, I'd always like to have one "grab and go" machine (eg. the Equinox) and one advanced/diving machine (eg. the D2). It's nice to have an easy-to-use unit that is good to go for most situations, the Deus II however really shines if you're tweaking it for specific purposes and goals.

    Hi Mish,
    I recently found your channel whilst researching metal detectors as I'm looking at getting in to this hobby. I love your content and have subscribed :)
    Anyway, I've noted in my travels on RUclips that the the Nox800 seems to be highly recommended and I see you have been using it a fair bit in your videos until recently when you are trying the Deus 2.
    Will you be making a video where you will share your thoughts on this detector and how it stacks up against the Nox800? I'd be keen to hear your thoughts as this will help my decision in which detector to get for same sort of detection that you do but on the western side of this continent :)
    Anyway I look forward to your reply. Keep up the great videos.

    • @DirtFishMish
      @DirtFishMish  2 года назад

      Hello there and I’m glad you found me! 😄 I’ll give you a short answer and then a longer one - short answer, don’t start with a Deus 2. 😊
      Longer answer… there is no doubt it is a machine with brilliant potential, but even with some years of frequent detecting under my belt I still consider it to have a very steep learning curve. Something to aspire to for sure; but as a newbie this would’ve put me off the hobby and the price tag really isn’t appealing for a first detector either.
      The Equinox was my second ever detector (I upgraded from a Minelab Go-Find 22 which was too de-featured for my liking) and I would consider the Equinox to be a good all-rounder. Took me about 3 months to feel confident with the machine. There’s a tonne of online reference videos out there for it these days. Also worth considering is the brand new Nokta Makro Legend, which is essentially a new direct competitor to the Equinox (slightly cheaper RRP as well!) and the first recipients have been reporting great things about it.
      I will compile my thoughts on a video in time; but hopefully this is food for thought. Cheers! 😊

      @cynicalskeptic8168 2 года назад

      @@DirtFishMish Thank you for your quick and detailed response. As a newbie to this hobby I definitely want something that will cause as little frustration as possible but also something that has decent amount of 'useful' features that will enable me to grow into the hobby without rushing out after a few weeks and upgrading so sounds like the Equinox is the sort of machine I should be looking at especially with the huge amount of reference videos etc.
      I have come across the Nokta Macro Legend name but have yet to do any serious research in to it and how it compares to the Equinox.
      Anyway, of to do some more research, lol. Thank you again for your time responding. Greatly appreciated.

    not sure what that brass thingy was, but it isn't the bottom of a bicycle bell. Not sure if those Deus are worth the extra dough. The Equinox would have found all of those finds. Fast recovery has its drawbacks too. Loved the silver, but I see that you are far from being fully recovered.

    • @DirtFishMish
      @DirtFishMish  2 года назад

      Looks like it was the end of a heavy-duty fuse according to several viewers. I found a bicycle bell in a subsequent hunt with a very similar design, hence the assumption. :)
      The 'nox would've been a bit scratchy on that gold in the mineralised sand, I struggle with lower conductors in that area (and have found equivalent range gold there before, but only just). Pretty well recovered now, just tired here and there. Cheers!

    That was a very nice outing indeed, sunny day, fresh air and treasures! How old do you think that heart of gold is? Do you think the Deus is better at finding gold or was it just the fresh erosion bringing new targets closer to the surface? I hope your lucky streak continues. Cheers

    • @DirtFishMish
      @DirtFishMish  2 года назад

      Thanks so much, Harry! A viewer has dated it between 1880-1900, which could definitely fit for this area, but my mind is absolutely blown. 🤯
      I believe both factors you mentioned are correct. Fresh erosion, but having pulled gold from this location in the past (in similar conditions) I would be certain that the signal was clearer on the Deus 2, gold from here has always been very scratchy on the Equinox even in Beach 2 mode (which is more weighted to higher frequencies), as the sand it quite mineralised. I’ll be beach hunting some more in the coming days for sure. Cheers!
