Great review, mate! Had mine for more than a year and still going strong. Only recently got into modding this keyboard, but its a great entry-point for those starting out this soon-to-be expensive hobby!
@@Mazharul-nn3zt i js got one and i’ve had it for a week and i don’t have much experience with keyboards but from what i can tell it’s really worth for the cost that it is and i can compare it to being pretty close to more expensive keyboards that sone of my friends have.
I think I might get it but idk what keys I wanna get, I wanna get the linear red ones for being best for gaming but I also want the satisfying clicks blue ones
I just picked up one of these keyboards, just to have an extra cheap wired keyboard around incase I ever needed it. I was so surprised at how good it seemed for only (in my case) $25 I just had to see what people who know more about these things thought about it as well. I'm really glad to see it does actually seem to be as good as I, keyboard pleb, thought it was. I may have to grab a few more of these as gifts for my pseudo-nerdy friends to upgrade their keyboard game... I just won't tell them how inexpensive they were.
I've been typing and mistyping and backspacing on a old logitech K120 (10$) for the past decade, so the MageGee would probably feel like a golden typewriter to me.
Just got this keyboard as my first mechanical! Glad to see you recommend it. I love it so far, even it's obnoxious click volume lol already planning on upgrading to a quick connect coiled cable and custom escape, space, and enter caps. Thanks for the info!
(It's also hot-swappable, and so somehow it's one of the cheapest options to get a DIY keyboard kit despite literally being a full keyboard, since for whatever reason a DIY keyboard kit under $50 requires buying straight from China.)
Had to randomly check out this keyboard. I don't even use any keyboard but anyway..I come from an age where mechanical keyboards were the norm. That side, I would just like to say I enjoyed your video and your video style, which is strange for me as I am an old miserable Englishman. Lol. Well done and good luck young fella. Thanks for the info and the video.
So okay, here is the thing about mechanical keyboards: find the cheapest one with the hardware features you want, with the best reviews, that has hot swap switches WITH THE NUMBER OF PINS OF THE SWITCHES YOU MAY WANT TO UPGRADE TO. I cannot express how important that is. If it only has 3 pin switches, that's going to limit the switches you can upgrade to in the future. Now, if the switches you want only have 3 pins, then you're good to go. Now why do I tell people to buy the cheapest kb with the features and switch pin type they want? Because as long as it has all of the hardware features you want (e.g. a knob, tiny LCD, backlighting in single color/RGB,etc) all of the other features of high end keyboards can be added DIY. Gasket mounted? K. Buy an O-ring large enough to go around the PCB. Metal shell? Find a local maker space and get one CNC'd from the material you want in the correct dimensions. Fancy double shot keycaps? Order them online. Basically, you can create your perfect custom keyboard, one feature at a time and at the end if done correctly, not only will it cost less than a high end keyboard but you'll have a keyboard that is perfect *for you*, with switches and caps that feel, look, and sound exactly how you want them to sound. Everything but the PCB will be crafted from the materials you want, it will be truly unique and one-of-a-kind. Can you start with a $300 high end board and have a metal casing with the switches you like and with them and the stabs already lubed? Sure. But what if you wanted an anodized aluminum case and different keycaps? You're still going to have the casing CNC'd, and spend another $80+ for keycaps, so if you're already getting the casing and keycaps, why did you start with a $300 board? You basically just paid $300 for a PCB and switches, and if you bought a MageGee (using them as an example because of this video) for $15-$40 and the switches you want for $100ish, you're at the same exact point for less than half the cost.
I've owned a Corsair K70 MK2 and a Roccat Vulcan, lovely keyboards, but I'm sick of having expensive keyboards go faulty just outside of the warranty. I've been using a "free" HP keyboard for about 6 months now and just ordered this lil guy based off of your video - if it's as good as it looks I'd rather spend £30 per year than £130 :D Thanks for the review

That’s interesting. So yours was tri-color out of the box? I had to install my yellow keys. It shipped with gray and white installed and had a cap puller and the yellow accent keys in a small bag.
ive wanted a keyboard for the longest time and found this one early december which i have used daily andf i love it my only "complaints" is the keys they give you to swap are different font and spacing like he said in the video and they keys are a little loud but i found how to fix that so thank you. i also got extra keys that i cant use on the keyboard like a verticle enter key and verticle ins key but other then those minor things i love this keyboard and has been holding up with no signs of breaking or being worn out any time soon.
No issues since purchase. White keys haven’t started staining either for what it’s worth. Like I said, it’s a $30 keyboard. Don’t expect super high quality materials. But there haven’t been any mechanical issues or breakages either. Hope this helps!
It seems they updated the fonts on the keys but haven't updated on the sounds of the keys. Maybe trying to save cost but I'll have to do some google on the mod to remedy the noise.
