ELECTRIC Vehicle stranded in the Middle of the Road! For real!

- Yep, I literally can't make this stuff up! Join us today for our latest weekend Equipment vlog update from our Southern Illinois Kapper Outdoors Modern homestead! In today's episode Sharon got stranded in our Electric Intimidator Classic Electric UTV as something fried out and literally left her standed in the middle of the public road! Now, luckily we live on a dead end road and most neighbors know each other, so it was not quite like getting stranded in a big city! But the surrounding circumstances did make it very challenging for Sharon as you'll see in a minute! So I was out of town in Missouri, doing a late stage property assessment and tour of our future Missouri farm, so I was unable to help her out in this situation. Of course it was raining out, and Sharon was short on time since she was working from home on that day, and since it was a Tuesday it was garbage day. Normally no big deal, so Sharon grabbed the garbage cans and hopped in the Intimidator Classic Electric UTV to haul the garbage out to the curb, but since we live nearly a mile off the public road it is kind of a long ride! It was raining and she was in her good work clothes but she just threw on some flip flops just to get the garbage out to the curb so she was definitely not prepared for what happened next! While she was literally turning around the Electric vehicle, the Intimidator Classic Electric UTV it started smoking and she smelled something burning and the electric UTV literally quite smack dab in the middle of the public road!! And adding insult to injury she had those flip flops on, with her good work clothes, she had to walk all the way back to the house in the rain! So she called me as I was in Missouri, ironically on my way to our last home and land visit trying to finalize the deal on our future new Missouri farm! So with me being out of town, she had to really improvise under the situation in order to just get the electric vehicle out of the middle of the public road! So I told her to grab the Kioti NS6010 tractor to pull it out of the road, in case the wheels were locked up. So she did just that, after walking back about 3/4's of a mile in the rain, in flip flops, in her work attire, she hauled the Kioti tractor out and pulled the stranded electric vehicle out of the road until I return home to handle the towing and getting it back to the barn for assessment and repair. Fast forward to today's equipment vlog and modern homestead weekend vlog as Sharon and I tackle this situation together. We'll grab the Kioti NS6010 tractor again and haul the stranded electric Intimidator UTV back to the barn where I can look it over and try to figure out what happened to it. Once we got it back in the barn I observed that one of the 6 Volt battery terminals had completely fried and melted off of the battery. So, at a minumum we needed at least one new battery, but if this happened once, who's to say it won't happen again? So with our RUclips channel contacts we were able to come up with a new plan to replace the lead acid 48 volt battery system with a new 48 volt lithium ion battery pack and bring Pro Staffer Phil back on video for a future fun episode! I had in Florida a golf cart and it was 48 volts and we had to replace them and we had it done
We'll see how the new packs go and the project. Fingers crossed. But Phil can fix and repair just about anything!

Wish I could've gotten a deal like that. Just bought 5 of the same kind of battery for my off grid solar system for $1350 each. Total for the 5 batteries: $6,750.00 OUCH!!!!!!!!
