I always have a little chuckle at Mark (Well Deck Diaries) saying "Where are we Deboraaaah". You've gone one step further with "What day is it"! Lovely cruising vlog. Watch the paintwork on those lock walls!

Thanks so much. Time seems to have no bearing on the canals.

Another great Vlog. You guys have an uncanny nack of showing all the interesting things on and around the canal. Good steady camera work and some nice little humorous touches ….. are you sure you haven’t been doing this in a previous life?
    Very enjoyable.

I’m a bit behind the current (latest) Vlog as I am enjoying my way through all your previous episodes. I was looking at the boxes supporting your solar panels when you took us on a tour of the boat.
I was thinking at the time that they could become a problem in low clearance areas but may also impede forward vision for the helmsperson. That did seem to be the case when you came through the low bridges before the Oxford canal and you seemed to be having to hang well out on the tiller as you made the very sharp turn.
Chimneys, antennas and so on are easily lowered … but you can’t really do much about the solar panels. I’m not sure what hides under the panels, but if it’s storage there could be an embarrassing and costly demolition job coming up.
Perhaps it’s an optical illusion from where I sit but it might be worth checking.
I’m working slowly through the episodes as I really enjoy them. Thanks for sharing it with us and stay safe.
    Regards Rick

Thanks for your concern, visibility is not a problem, I stand on a box. They have not impeded us at all except for once, the Harecastle tunnel and as Rob gates tunnels it really wasn’t a hardship. The boxes have valuable storage snd we wouldn’t be without them. Glad you’re enjoying the videos.

Can’t wait to see Rob’s pose when you go through Itchington Bottom Lock or Bumble Hole, Ha Ha!

    Hi Pippa & Rob
we walked past your splendid looking boat earlier this afternoon and noted your magnetic sign. On returning to our own boat we subcribed to the channel and have binged watched all of your episodes with our evening meal. We find your content to be very watchable and as live aboard narrowboaters who are also in our first year we are enjoying comparing your adventure so far to our own. Look forward to following the frog's odyssey as you travel around the network.

At 5:30, the two "double parked" boats are almost completely blocking the canal. Is this allowed? Is there no enforcement?

    • @FrogInABucket
      @FrogInABucket  3 года назад +1

As this is a canal that is only navigable by narrowboats, as long as the gap is wide enough to get through, then perfectly legal. It was very tight and not much room for error!

As far as who has priority at a lock, shouldn't it be whoever has the lock in their favor? Just because you are a bit closer you doesn't mean you would empty a lock without a boat going down if they are fairly close. Oh and nice video.

Just like in the canals, take your time and enjoy the ride. Nothing happens in a hurry on a canal.

Always tickles me when men do the easy job taking the boat into a lock and let the women do the hard tough job of opening and closing the lock gate.s.....the boat in the field is a way of avoiding costs.....

We share the work but as I do most of the filming I’m seldom seen at the tiller, Rob does his share of lock work, believe me!
