    The Connecticut tartan is white because they taxed all the colors out of it.

    There may be some interest in a Vietnam Veteran tartan. I would order one.

    I didn’t know each state had a tartan that’s cool. My state of Iowa approved ours in 2004. Looks to Louisiana’s though which was approved in 2001.

    You guys are the best show NOT on T.V.. Seriously, I haven't turned on my tv in days. At work, I can't wait to get home to watch more of you guys. If I didn't hate reality T.V. so much, I'd say you should make a show. But seriously, if you made 30 min episodes where you took someone cool (an old Army vet, or famous football player or something like that), and helped him research his tartan, and thus, family history and set him up with a kilt, I'd pay $$$ to watch that. Maybe even a show where you help a veterans org design a tartan and present it to a national veterans org or something like that. Like Ed Lakin said below.... "There may be some interest in a Vietnam Veteran tartan. I would order one." Imagine what that would do for the kilted community? Just my random thoughts though.

    Weirdly, Minnesota has a tartan in the official registry of tartans in Scotland, but has not been officially recognized by the state legislature.

    I have noticed that you both wear a bunch of different tartans in your videos. Is there limitations to what you can wear, or can you wear anything?

    • @RodFleming-World
      @RodFleming-World 4 года назад

      Basically no. There's a lot of hoopla talked but here are the facts. Prior to 1745 in Scotland only Highlanders wore tartan. But while each clan had its own weaves, these were not definitive. The indicator of clan identity was actually the 'plant badge' which was a sprig worn in the bonnet.
      After the repeal of the Dress Act in 1782, which had banned the tartan, Lowlanders began wearing it and set up a register of tartans. Many of us regard that rather dubiously. I would certainly not let it stop me wearing a tartan I like. However, should you wish to go along with it, you can wear any of the modern tartans, many of which are attractive. If you are Scottish, in addition to your'name' tartan and the moderns you can wear the Stuart tartans and any regimental one. Black Watch is popular and very stylish imo. I much prefer it to my official name tartan, Murray. (Lowlanders don't have clans anyway.)

    I'm hoping that once the transfer of the rights to the NH official tartan from the folding St Andrew's Society to NHSCOT settles out it'll available to more kiltmakers.

    The state tartans you've designed are infinitely more attractive than any of the official ones. For those interested, Wikipedia has a list of tartans "adopted by law" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_tartans

    Michigan would have two: Maize and Blue, (Wolverines) as well as Green and White.(Spartans)
    As long as it isn't Red and White like that state down south.(Ohio Buckeyes)
    Go SPARTY! (I'm the green sheep of the family)

    haha your business comes closer to having my clan tartan than just about every other kilt supplier, but still no dice... no hard feelings, though, its uncommon, so i've given up on finding it - despite the fact that it is in the scottish national tartan registry...
    my clans tartan is similar to "blackwatch" - but um... no, im not gonna wear that shit... my family was kinda on the other side of that conflict...
