Absolutely Laphroaig tartan! I'd like to see the Maine State tartan. As a state where a lot of people wear flannel, I'm a little surprised that that restricted tartan isn't available in Maine.
While not restricted, I’ve not found much for Polaris tartan. It was created for the Submariners stationed at Holy Loch, and named for the missile type that most submarines stationed there carried. All of the Polaris Missile Subs are scrapped at this point, and the Holy Loch Base was closed after 1992. But the tartan is currently used by US Navy Piper band, and I’m told as a submariner veteran, it’s generally considered fine for me to wear it. I really like the pattern with Blue Green , and yellow.
We named our camper Balmoral. (That way we can say, we just spent a week in Balmoral.). A lot of the decor in our camper (cushions, etc) is in Black Watch, but I’d love to change that out for Balmoral tartan for pillows, throws, etc (if Charles okayed it, I’d like wearing it, but if I didn’t have his approval, no, I wouldn’t wear it either… but I would use it in the camper in a heartbeat).
I'd like them to make another run of the Scottish Wildcat tartan. Such a nice pattern, drawing colors from the the coat of the Sottish wildcat. Every Clan Chattan member would be all over that I bet.
In fairness, if you want to wear it, all you have to do is learn the bagpipes and become good enough to be the King's personal piper. He's the only non-royal who'd been given the permission to wear it.
I just ordered a kilt in the "Bomb Disposal" Tartan. Only available to those who have served in the profession of bomb disposal, either military or civilian.
Cochrane azure!!! Its incredibly difficult to find anything but Cochrane modern, azure is so nice and its the recommended evening wear by the chief apperently.
@USA Kilts & Celtic Traditions: Would you like to please tell us what tartans you're wearing on every episode? And can you bring up any tartan you're discussing on screen please? It could add more value to those viewers who have trouble choosing one, and deem browsing through your galleries too daunting a task - myself included ^^
At the beginning of each live stream (and the revamped and edited version later) they do announce the tartans that Rocky and whoever the cohost is that month as well as whoever is running the comments board.
I know it's because I'm a super fan and, it was made for an "official" event. But a Pattern run of threads for each MLB (Major Leauge Baseball) team. I would rep the Los Angeles Dodgers Tartan. The event took place in 96'.
I want an actual, weavable version of the real McDuck tartan. Not that yellow thing they tried to pass off as McDuck. The original one that Don Rosa made fun of in Lo$. If we can create a reasonable facsimile of that tartan, we'll differentiate it by calling it MacDuich. Fun fact: MacDuich means "son of the black meadow." The black meadow in question is Dismal Downs, where Castle McDuck is located.
i don't if restricted is the proper term, there was an attempt or they are still in the process of making a Pittsburgh tartan for use in Pittsburgh piping bands and Pittsburgh police ,it of course was black and gold with a hint of red and white, absolutely beautiful!
I'd like to see a design approved by the Macleod of Dunvegan chief for the MacCrimmons. I think it's a shame this illustrious piping family has never had it's own "official" tartan. I don't think the line about "they were vassals of the Macleods so should be content to wear those tartans" holds up. Plenty of alleged "vassal" clans primarily known for service to larger, more powerful clans have their own tartans. The MacCrimmons should have a couple tartans for themselves. This is an oversight by the Dunvegan laird.
I have an odd kilt question. Besides wearing a few layers under the kilt, which I know is untraditional, how do I avoid the outline of my member showing under my kilt like I'm wearing swimwear?
Couple of possible solutions. You could eat lots & lots of carbs (this may involve purchasing a new kilt). You could tape it down & out of the way. Or, you could also wear a sporran.
Would Earthrise or Angels Share tartans come under this category, as you can only get them from Steve when he does a run? NB, I'm getting an Earthrise in the next run, due in November (ish). 😊
Anderson of Kinnedar. I originally thought it was just a hunting version of the Anderson tartan (my clan) but I was sternly informed by the current Chieftan of that branch that it is ONLY for the specific Kinnedar line and that it requires his permission to wear it (or weave it I assume).
+USAKiltsOfficial *Thanks for the attorney perspective.* Bean of Freeport was setted for L. L. Bean and Company, Freeport, ME, USA, for blankets, scarves, &c.: Unfortunately, Bean of Freeport is _not_ available for the items USA Kilts crafts.
It would have to be the Prehospital (EMS USA) tartan because I can't afford it at the moment. The Emergency Medical Services Memorial tartan is not my favorite pattern but it is a possible second choice.
The Old Stewart tartan being a little more rare and only coming from a couple different Scottish mills. It would be the most appropriate clan tartan for me to wear and it's always just been that little bit out of reach financially.
@@IosuamacaMhadaidh Missouri does have an official tartan but when you go to ask about it you get passed around. I tried talking to the St. Andrew's group in St. Louis but I got nothing. (It's been over a year)

I think that it is 100% okay to wear Balmoral all day, every day in the USA. If you’re in the UK (and probably the Commonwealth) I think you shouldn’t unless you’re part of the royal family. Elsewhere, why not? They aren’t king of me, or the USA either.
It's a matter of respecting the owner's property rights. If you don't respect them all, there's no point in respecting any. Would you wear the USMC tartan if you'd never served in the Marines? Probably not, as it's disrespectful and a bit "Walter Mitty"
It's that lack of respect that's so sad, just because it's not YOUR King or not the King of your country you think it's right to wear something that belongs to someone else.. Like taking the Queen's nickname and using it even though it was her wish not have it used.... Disrespect

Anyone can wear their clan tartan... King Charles is the 'clan chief' for the United Kingdom so if you have any ancestry from the British Isles you could wear the Balmoral or the Windsor tartans. I'm not sure about the Royal Stewart tartan. I like Balmoral... not so much the Windsor, love the Stewart tartans.
