I really liked how you gave the MRE a practical test by going on a walk rather than eating it indoors without doing anything. Plus your commentary during the walk was very pleasant, really glad I found this channel keep up the great content.

If he was too eat it inside doing nothing he'd probably gain a few pounds lol those are made to keep a soldier on the field happy, well fed and full on glucose to feed the brain. I've myself had the chance to eat some of those for weeks in a row in training and I'm glad to say I've never been hungry or disappointed, they're surprisingly delicious!

I know I'm about a bazillion years late to the party here, but I really do enjoy these videos. I actually really like going to the military surplus outlets and such to buy my favorite MREs, and the almost hardtack-like crackers are actually one of my favorite parts of it. I absolutely love to dunk in my instant coffee or tea, and there's just something warm, comforting and nostalgic about it for me. I wasn't ever in the military because of physical and mental health disorders (I did try but absolutely no one was willing to take me on😢), but when I was a cub scout and then boy scout, I was in a troop where the leader was ex-military, and we kinda did have to keep a very boot camp-like schedule while camping. That's where I got to try my very first cheesy macaroni and beef MRE, and I was absolutely hooked. I highly doubt you'll ever see this but thank you so very much for bringing back one of the very few happy memories I still have. It's been a lot of fun to watch, and I very much appreciate your videos. Have a great day! 😁

I have always lived the ideas of ready to eat meals. Back when school field trips were a thing that happened to me, I would pack my own "mre" and try to fit a good meal in as small a space as possible.
I still do it once in a while. My best meal so far was a medium piece of cooking chocolate and peanut butter, a bowl of ramen and dried greens in my canteen cup, and some instant coffee I mixed with powdered creamer.
Discounting the water, I could fit it all into the smallest pocket of my backpack while still boasting a calorie count of 650.

I walk pretty frequently, but not often this far, and I made a really bad footwear choice here - thinking I would be walking on more natural shores and mud, I wore 'duck boots' - which are really good for semi-wet conditions, but terrible for walking any distance. Very enjoyable! Haven't been able to visit with my Daughter for the past 9 months (Covid and all that) so we've been doing silly stuff on line. She got stuck into buying and unboxing Business Class airline amenity kits (10 to date!) so I started weaning her off onto things like MREs and Ration Packs.
Tomorrow we're each doing Menu 9 - the third or fourth of the RCIR packs we've tried so thanks for the talk through. We've agreed to steer clear of the Polish Army ones in future (her maternal grandfather was Polish)
Never though of bain-marie cooking for the hot meals - good tip.
As you set off I noticed you walked past a water point and I thought "he's going to regret not topping up!"
French soldiers get a pocket knife called a Tatou - it's a bit like the old West German Bundeswehr (Swiss made!) knife but with a spoon and a fork that can be clipped into the handle which explains the cheapo folding spork. The Tatou also has a bottle/can opener and, being French, a corkscrew.
Re the muesli bag - you can dent a fold into the bottom of the package, a bit like making a share size packet of crisps stand up, and that makes all the difference.
Looking forward to tomorrow - especially when she asks "How did youknow that?"
    Take care and many thanks.

I found your channel recently, it was the £2 for 2 days challenge and I've just loved going through your videos ever since. John Warosa/Barosa, toucan specials, don't eat hemlock, odd thumbs, I love all of it! I know there's a chance you won't find this interesting to read because you read these types of comments all the time, but this is the first time I've had this thought, so I just wanted to say thanks for putting all this work into videos I get to enjoy.
What I like most is that you like to share with us how you personally prefer to enjoy things. I get really self conscious if someone is watching me eat, I don't want them to judge how I eat my food, but you just go for it and say how you like it. And it's interesting! Pate isn't appealing to me, personally, so the idea of eating the jelly horrifies me, but it doesn't bother me that you like the jelly, I'm not judging you at all, so maybe people wouldn't judge me when I eat? I'm going to try and remember that the next time it happens again.
Anyway, I think you're channel is awesome, really glad I found it! I'm learning, I'm entertained, I'm soothed to sleep, you get it all here!

I love this video! I'm a massive fan of walking around looking at stuff. I've done nearly every road, alley and path within a 10 mile radius of my home and I've covered a lot of other places nearby to a lesser extent. It's so interesting here in Lancashire walking the canals and seeing all the crumbling Victorian mills, also all the ruins on the moors, I didn't know walking around videos were a theme on youtube but I'll check it out. Its so relaxing.

What an interesting walk! Love how you showed the park and other interesting things as you went. The "headstones as capstones" bit really was very sad, disrespectful of the dead and their families, but people will be people. Seeing the castle remains was fantastic(wish we could have seen more of it but, alas, it wasn't the point of the excursion)! Appreciated how you showed the MRE bits and especially how you showed the preparation of the items. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your trip and hope you do more of these.

I sort-of followed your walk on googlearth and the food with interest. The paté and the crispbreads really appealed but the mango isotonic (or whatever it was called) reminded me of you--know-what! Great video, many thanks for subjecting your feet to that ordeal😇

My takeaway is that the French know how to make MREs (just like most foods)! Wish I could try one myself! 🙂

Graffiti artists are quite respectful of the work of others, which is likely why the underpass at around 25 minutes is untouched.

Today's and much admiration for making that trip... I'm a rather sedentary sort so I probably wouldn't even have made it quarter of the way. I always enjoy watching French ration vids, you certainly did come up with a better way of heating the entrees.

I am part way through a French ration pack, but I tried the bars at home, they called to me. It’s a good job though, too rich for my system. A damn shame as they were very tasty.
I have watched a few videos by you now, quite a variation, but I like this ‘walk where I live’ video the best so far.
    Thank you.

That was probably the worst damage I have ever done to my feet, and all just because I chose the wrong footwear. All recovered now, and I'll do this again, but with the right shoes next time.

Just a detail from a french viewer.
Cassoulet is made with flageolet bean not white bean. I am just throwing that out there.
It's nice to see what our military are eating.

Nice video! I think the flaps of the stove should be bent upwards to shield against the wind and concentrate the heat. The legs are the tiny ones on the short flaps.
