She has an incredible array of covers that she re-arranges herself.

"Arirang Alone," which is a rendition of a Korean folk song is extremely popular as well.
Her rendition of "You Raise Me Up" brings me to tears every single time I hear it.
I'm surprised you haven't heard Sohyang before. I thought you had reacted to her a few years ago but maybe that was someone else. I think this may also be my first time commenting or maybe second on one of your videos too. I am a huge Sohyang fan, she is a gospel singer and an independent artist which does make her less well known as say Kpop artists are. She is brilliant; sings, writes, teaches, draws, speaks a few languages. She is also a cancer survivor and just a very inspirational woman, one of the best female artists alive today in my opinion.

Kim So Hyang is a South Korean gospel singer. Her covers of 'Lean On Me', 'Bridge Over Troubled Water', 'You Raise Me Up', and Whitney Houston's 'I Have Nothing', are all world class performances. She is simply the best female vocalist on the planet in my opinion .

Please react to her Begin Again versions of Misty, I Will Always Love You and If I Aint Got You (these are outdoor intimate versions) . Also her cover of I have Nothing and her King of Masked Singer version of Mona Lisa. The girl can sing any genre and is the closest thing to a vocal goddess i have ever heard! Finally her recent cover (she is 45 years young now) of One Million Roses and Easy On Me. Then check out her 2010 version of Michael Jackson's Will You Be There (when she was a mere 32 years old)

I am so surprised you haven’t seen her yet. I could write a book about this special woman, but let’s keep it simple. You can’t go wrong with any song by So Hyang! My favorites are Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Arirang a traditional Korean song.
Another Korean singer that i checked out (and now love )because I read that So Hyang is friends with her is Park Ki Young. Yeonan Pier has a jazz vibe but she sings similar songs and has a similar vocal range to So Hyang.

📌Welcome! Who is Sohyang?
Kim Sohyang (called Sohyang) * 1978 in Gwangju, South Korea. She is self-taught and a real all-rounder.
Sohyang comes from poor divorced parents. As a teenager, she converted to Christianity and planned to become a cartoonist and artist. Instead, she joined a band and married drummer Kim Hee-jun. She started singing late and has no formal vocal training, but since has had some lessons from Seth Riggs (American voice coach).
Shortly after the wedding she had to have an operation and was told she could not have children. She was then 21 years old.
She decided to devote her life to singing for God and the comfort and joy of people. She is also a fantasy novelist, gives singing lessons at the Music House Academy in her home town and is a guest speaker at a university.
She made her singing debut in 1996. She only became known in 2012 through her participation in the second season of the Korean singing competition I am A Singer.
Sohyang became the first Korean female artist to sing the American national anthem at an NBA game.
After the huge success in 2017 in the "King of Mask Singer" (Korea), Sohyang’s appearances became less and less. She was struggling with severe pneumonia, which came back eight times and almost took her voice away.
Sohyang, hailed as "Korean Mariah Carey" for her outstanding vocal skills, shared how obsessed she was. She didn't want to damage her reputation, didn't allow herself to make any mistakes. So when she was stripped of sheen, all she could do was repent and reflect on her Christianity. She realized that the most important thing as a singer was to comfort people about not being perfect.
She rejects contract offers from major music agencies for reasons of belief (Sony Music in the USA). She says, "... I'm perfectly fine sharing my music on RUclips, which can do to tens of millions of people around the world without feeling stuck. Maybe that's why I was born around this time."
Sohyang's vocal type is a lyric soprano, specifically a Full-Lyric Soprano. Her vocal range spans from D3 to A6 (supported range from G # 3 to E6), a total of 3 octaves, 3 notes, and a semitone. She is known for her emotive and powerful vocals, with characteristics being a homogeneous, rounded, and bright instrument of remarkable beauty and meticulous control. (www)

If you continue into Sohyang's world, you will discover that she does Pop (I Have Nothing), Gospel, Blues, Jazz (Misty), you name it. Just a valuable Tip; if you get a recommendation for a one of her performances, do a Search on the title and include English Subtitles in the argument. The same performances are out there with and without Subtitles. This performance would have been even more exciting for you with English subs. Sohyang is a gospel singer & the reason you have never heard of her is she does not seek fame or fortune. 😏♥️🎙😎🤘 You won't find her social media except what her fans post & she has been offered many times, but has never signed a record deal.

Yeah Steve ,she was on Begin Gain Korea Series, which was only in Korea ( actually only about half as another singer Lee So-ra (Episode 1-5)started but got sick and they asked SoHyang 6 thru 10 and Special),season 4 if she would help out! As it turns out it was Great for us and even better for her! She got back to basics in this and the Performance were All Magnificent as we both know! Henry and Lee Su-Hyun, we’re on two and one years previous ! Lena Park, Hareem and guitar player singer Jukjae were on in previous years
@@tomsawyer2768 I actually loved all of them in that series, Lee hi has such a rich deep voice, even Rose from Blackpink took park and is it Taeyon from girls generation as well, it was a unbelievable array of talent that the world of music need to be exposed to because music in the western world has been on a downward spiral for as long as I can remember and I am from England, my two very favourite go to ARTISTS I repeatedly look out for are MORISSETTE AMON LAMAR from the Philippines and the Great SOHYANG from South Korea 🇬🇧🔥👌❤️.

Steve I have followed SoHyang since the fall of 2012 and have read and watched , listened too everything I could get a hold of! I’m 70 now and have heard many great Female Artists but not one gives me the feels like she does! Sometimes she makes me cry but by songs end I feel terrific ! That smile of hers while she is singing is Unbelievable! Someday I pray to see her live and her music will play at my funeral ! I figure God is listening every time he heard that voice and maybe I’ll get to sneak into Heaven ! God Bless Her and You too:-)

I just had a grape incident...
I bought the little ones from rouses. The ones that yet small, are really juicy.
While was watching this I picked us the container wrong and dumped them in my lap. I have a gaming chair, but i bought it on ebay for cheap. A bunch of them got in the corners of my seat, like underneath the middle part. it was nasty under there. The ones that were good, i ate. Then I realized I've been farting into that cushion for 2 YEARS NOW. While this song was playing in the background, I realized. That Jesus is the one that decides our fates, and i may might not die from fartricide. Please baby Jesus, save me from ingesting my own farts. Please.
