Oh wow! That Space Wars book! I read that book countless times as a kid and I could never remember what it was called. Just seeing that front and inside cover instantly brought back the memories and I had to pause the video to go and order a copy. Thanks so much, these videos are fantastic and you’ve made my day 👍🏻
Sadly the internet is to blame for a lot of the retro price hike. Found a copy of Sonic Chaos with no manual for Master System at a car boot recently and the guy wanted £30 for it because "he had seen it for that on ebay". He was convinced he was on to gold selling off old games and wouldn't even consider haggling.
I can't count the amount of times I've been to a car boot to hear "it goes for around that on EBay". And I'm like well I may as well buy it off there instead then lol
+Mr Know Nothing Aye though i did have to feel for one woman, she sold her sons copies of FF7, 8 and 9 for £5 to a guy who told her they were worthless. She found them on his stall later for £15 each
yeah i know the feeling, most of the carboot sales i go to are like that, ebay priced or dealers that know its worth that much, had a guy who had an orgnial nes wanted 100 pounds no cables though had 3 games, next to it was some old badly beaten 2600 carts n boxes he wanted £6 each, had some records too pulled out a list and told me it was that price, i only brought one record which was a pound, a roobard record from the old cartoon
This sort of thing killed off my mum and dad's love of boot sales, there are too many folk now who scour the other stalls at the break of dawn to buy stuff for their own stalls. Parasites, anyone who tries to ruin the fun for others just to make money is scum, I couldn't care less if they are poor or hungry - when i was poor and hungry I got a job manufacturing things like everyone else, not ruining people's Sunday bargain hunt.
loved immortal on the amiga. sth about the art direction resonated well with me and my D&D filled head back then. I like the title of the series :D wanted to called mine BGO thrifts too at some point . maybe we should contact clint and tell him we're starting a franchise :D
Lovely, great find with the Blockbusters game - sad that Mr Holness passed away not that long ago. I'll have a 'e' please Bob, or a 'p" for the pre-rave era. On Magdalen Street, I used to get some Dreamcast games from Rays CDs or is it called Beatniks now (opposite the Church). Fantastic part of Norwich, much prefer it to the Mall and Chapelfield :)
I was given the Blockbusters game one Christmas. All the cards were jumbled up so my Great Aunt and I stayed up rather late sorting them out. She died on Boxing Day. We never played it.
I would've picked up an oscilloscope and that spaceship book in a heartbeat. Charity shops are dire where I live, haven't found much in the past which is a damn shame, still enjoy the hobby though.
I used to love Usbourne books! Do you remember the Puzzle Adventures series? I loved Escape From Blood Castle and The Curse of the Los Idol. I wish I had them again now... not that I'm checking ebay or anything... honest.
I think I'd walk into one of those stores, buy a game like I used to 15 yrs ago, then come home and realise my new pc doesn't even have an optical drive to put the cd-rom in :D
Interesting. Nice to get a glimpse of what thrifting is like outside of the US. I'm always being told that the second hand/thrifting market is pretty abysmal outside of the USA. I don't know how true that is but I will say if you live reasonably close to any major city here there is very nearly a thrift store on every corner as well as yard sales every weekend. its not the retro game bonanza it once was thanks to the internet and reality shows convincing everyone that every NES game they own is worth more then gold or some nonsense but you can still get lucky especially on the reto computing side as that stuff can still be found relatively cheap and easily.
Glad I came across your channel, mate. Big fan of LGR so it's cool to find a British version. Can I ask how old you are? LGR is about my age, 32, and I have a feeling you may be too. Seems this kind of nostalgia is popular with our age group.
Noice. When watching LGR Thrifts (I see you mentioned it in your description), I was always hankering for a British version. Then I discovered this. Thanks! Also, when wandering the streets of Norwich, have you ever bumped into any true-life Alan Partridges?
norwich? whoa careful there that's ashens ground, anything 80's toy related or gaming related is his, if he wants it, hang on, which blockbusters, as they made 3 sets, the first which is the one you have, then the gold run which was cards, and then later on they had them both, rip the guy who did blockbusters, if your intrestered mate youtuber i have the blockbuster books i think i saved them from going in the skip there in great shape, most scope stores sadly only have clothes or there own line of items and are normally over priced, most games in chairty shops are either scrached or are on line coded and the codes used that or there bad games that no one liked, like the ps2 move or guitar/dj hero or rock band stuff junk, TAPE BOXES?!?! DO YOU WANT SOME?! (you'd have to have the tapes too) I HAVE A FEW IN THE CARBOOT!
Great video as usual mate! Always worth checking the likes of Cash Converters, I picked up an unused rubber key Speccy a couple of years back for £50: m.ruclips.net/video/7FJdnejdbZI/видео.html
These thrifting videos are so relaxing and surprisingly addictive. Can't get enough of 'em!

Thanks. I have spent my entire Saturday bingeing on your channel. No ad blocker or skips.
Those Master System boxes with the crosses on the white background instantly put me back in time by 25 years!
Visiting a friend in Norwich a few years back I was absolutely blown away by how many record shops there are!
Love seeing what charity shops are like for you guys over the pond...great video!

Same in the States, people see series like Storage Wars or go on eBay and think their junk is gold!
yeah i know the feeling, most of the carboot sales i go to are like that, ebay priced or dealers that know its worth that much, had a guy who had an orgnial nes wanted 100 pounds no cables though had 3 games, next to it was some old badly beaten 2600 carts n boxes he wanted £6 each, had some records too pulled out a list and told me it was that price, i only brought one record which was a pound, a roobard record from the old cartoon

Used to see Usbourne books at my library a lot in the 80's. Their take on the future of TV was spot on.
loved immortal on the amiga. sth about the art direction resonated well with me and my D&D filled head back then.

+Banjo Guy Ollie Definitely... the art and game atmosphere was mesmerising...
Good plan! We could all wear paper Clint masks.
So cool that you went into generating games/ regenerating games, I go there all the time
The Blockbuster home game is a staple of charity shops in the UK. Norwich has been good to me for finding bargains, lots of great little shops.
+WendeXTX Lol, don't forget the the popomatic and aging copy of kerplunk with half the sticks chewed on.
Or possibly missing...

Watching this should make LGR realise how lucky he is with the thrifts in the US compared to elsewhere lol. Like it though so great work.
+Chris Dean I know right! If only he realised
Your choice of shops for retro video game hunting is far better than in Belfast! You're lucky!
+Richard Troupe Aye. We're awash with cheapo shops around these parts!
Speaking of British things to Of my favorite British Shows are keeping up appearances and my hero .
Norwich ... have they pedestrianised the local town centre yet. Back of the net.
Ashens favourite part of England.
I was given the Blockbusters game one Christmas. All the cards were jumbled up so my Great Aunt and I stayed up rather late sorting them out. She died on Boxing Day. We never played it.
Looks like Norwich is charity shop central! :)

I had the block buster game lol
Lots of charity shops near me but they want a small fortune for the good stuff - £30 for a crappy Blaze mega Drive
I own a copy of 1000 games because my friend bought it from a charity shop and he hated all the games so gave it to me for my game collection.
Badges? We dont need no stinking badges.
Lomax! GoodFind!
Love it....U.K.
lots of great stuff there :) lomax is supposed to be good
+Odd Pod Do you ever hunt around charity shops?
Nostalgia Nerd yeah i do look every so often, don't find a lot but every so often i might come across something cool
Noice. When watching LGR Thrifts (I see you mentioned it in your description), I was always hankering for a British version. Then I discovered this. Thanks! Also, when wandering the streets of Norwich, have you ever bumped into any true-life Alan Partridges?
Thumbs up just for making me laugh my head off, a lady squatted and took a piss in front of you Jesus Christ.
+9ElevenGamer Welcome to ANGLIA SQUARE XD
He was lucky. One guy decided to vomit a fountain when I walked past once.
That’s Great Britain for you
You should have stayed at the video game store and bought all those games. Can't believe they had multiples.
And I see some Skylanders in the Generation Game store as well. Oh well, it's not that surprising considering that franchise is dying anyway.
Not a bad score for £6. Not a had good score in charity shops in ages. All the big ones sell all the "good stuff " on eBay now :(
how do the blind people know that shelf is for them?
Finally someone is showing how shit our charity shops are compared to America where they have a genesis collection on every isle.
+ChrisDoes I stopped going when every other charity shop had the old biddies pricing PC cover discs from the '90s for £10 each >.>
did you film this with a potato?
+MrPummetje Yeah. I stole it from ya mamma
Nostalgia Nerd yes nice was it tasty ? no but seriously i liked it but the video quality is so 2006 :(
+MrPummetje Well... the channel is called Nostalgia Nerd... so....
Can't you haggle on prices in those shops. We do in the Canadian thrift shops.
British don't like to haggle.
Did you bring your kid along? lol
+kee1haul Of course. She's excellent at sniffing out old DOS games.

oh god,i was there earlier today... thats really creepy. (that place is shit)
Great video as usual mate! Always worth checking the likes of Cash Converters, I picked up an unused rubber key Speccy a couple of years back for £50: m.ruclips.net/video/7FJdnejdbZI/видео.html
Nice video, but not liking the american title ;)
Charity shop... not Thrift Store haha
+interghost I had to weigh up the pros and cons, but as I was inspired by LGR Thrifts.... it felt a fitting title.
Nostalgia Nerd yeah understood if you're looking for views... (British sell out haha, only kidding dude)
+interghost it's more of a tribute if anything
long live the fucking queen
Westwurtzli what has she got to do with anything?
Have you even watched the video?
Westwurtzli just rewatched. I appologize, I missed that the first time round. Sorry bud.
reading this in 2022
Not as good as LGR
