Holy Moly. I’m glad your channel came up on my feed. In the 70’s we just picked the outer seam inserted a wedge and added a few inches of a funky fabric around the bottom. Love this for modern times lol.

Love your show! I've been watching sewing videos for almost 2 years and they just started showing up. One of my favorite channels currently! I just made my own Hawaiian shirt from a shirt i copied. Can you do a video on fitting a shirt on a guy with beer belly? Not sure where to adjust the wonkyness on it.

Video request! How to make arm holes smaller. In a t shirt and in a blazer. 😅

Do you have a video on how to reduce a bra band that's to big? Thank you, you are amazing. 👏💐

Dear Shae, I have an issue when shortening trousers and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. At first I was good at it. My method was, I was marking the trousers on one leg with pins and then I was measuring the difference. Then I would fold the edge inside to the point where it should be in the end, both sides and I iron. Then I would turn inside out and figure out how much to cut and turn in. All good so far. Lately, when I'm doing that, one hem is shorter that the other. And then chaos, desperation, I just want to quit. Am I stupid? What am I doing wrong?

Now, I realise you are a taylor, not a wizard, but... (clutching at straws here): I got 3 pairs of pants that are a great fit (rare, and yes, that's why I bought them in every colour...) BUT they are short. Way too short, like 3 inches for my liking (current fashion...). I didn't cut them, so I have no spare, and I don't want contrasting fabric. Fabric shops say they haven't got anything similar (velvety smooth tencel the thickness of denim). Any advice?

This is great! Thank you! Love your show. :)
I have a show idea! Would you consider doing one on how to alter a men's dress shirt for a person who has a very wide neck but is not as big in the rest of the body?
There seems to be no way to find OTR large neck sizes without corresponding very large sizes in the rest of the shirt. So I'm in the position of having to try to alter a shirt with a 20" collar (which is a 4X in the rest of the shirt) down to a 2X in the rest of the shirt - which means resizing the width across the shoulders, the length of the sleeves, the width of the torso, and the hem length! So, basically, taking the whole darn shirt apart, I think!
Why oh why can't clothing manufacturers get beyond "standard" body sizing and offer a few alternative options? There have to be other shorter people out there with bigger necks! Sigh...

Just an off-the-cuff idea; this would not be cheap and I have never tried it BUT I've always been curious; what if you bought 2 shirts, the correct size body and the correct size collar and frankenstined them together? The reason I think this could work is that the cut edge along the neckline is curved and will lend itself to mechanical stretch so when you attempt to put the larger collar on, it may 'grow' to the opening size you need. Just a thought!!

@@sewshowwithshaeThank you so much for responding! That's a neat idea! I'm not sure how easy that would be, unless I were to keep the yoke on the front and back of the larger shirt and just cut it back at the edges of the shoulders to match the width of the smaller shirt. The thought of trying to set a much wider collar into a shirt that had a much smaller opening gives me the willies! I don't know how much stretching/easing in I could get away with. I would hate to destroy two shirts in my attempt! I think I'd better try some easier alterations first. 🙂

Try taking the sleeves out. Reducing shoulder length and armholes to suit your body. Adjust sleeve length(from sleeve head) and width to suit. I hope that this helps. I have done this a few times with great results.
