"Anything that I missed?" the master asks the apprentice. The apprentice only sees perfection in the masters instruction, to the point of being confused by the question in the first place. Then, the student understands the master is showing grace and humility by extending the question. Mastery without arrogance is a rare trait. Thank you for this wonderful instruction.
Thanks so much. This is by far the best video on yt on the topic. I'm going to dinner at the Magic Castle tonight. I found out they have a very strict dress code and right now I'm too fat to fit into any of my suits. You saved my night by helping me tailor a fancy velvet party suit for the dinner.
This was awesome, thanks for taking the time to make us this great tutorial!!! I just let out an awesome vintage pair of corduroy pants by following this guide and they fit me like a glove (and the alteration came out seamless... er, or I should say with one appropriately placed seam haha). I appreciate you giving me the instruction and confidence to try this!
Great tutorial video! I began a home alteration business a few months ago and I’m so glad I found you! 😊 You give and show details in such a delightful way. Thank you.
I had an idea of how it is done and after watching your video i have enough courage to get started with my 2 pants that need letting out. Will save about $50 altogether.
Got this done in like an hour never having done this before. Good tutorial. What I did though was leave all the original stitching in the waist and seat and sewed parallel to it tapering into the groin. Then i released all the original stitching. New pants so no color difference. Ironed out and you can't even tell.
I just found your channel and have been binge watching your videos. I love your explanations and your attention to detail. I can tell that sewing, tailoring, is a passion of yours. Also, you are just so darling!
Amazing video! Cheers Shae. I altered some red velvet pants using this method. It was tricky with such delicate material, but it worked out well in the end!
Wowww! Thank you, I'm about to try it on my partner old suit pants, if this works he will owe you a few hundred euros lol. Jokes aside, thank you for sharing, very good video :)
This is so fantastic - you have such a great way of explaining what you are doing, using easy to understand words and even if it is technical you explain it as you do it. thankyou so much !
I've not had to let out a waistband before on a suit, nice instructions. Question though, I would've turned the whole garment inside out to do the work, is there a reason not to?
Time for new pants! People often ask me to just add a wedge of fabric to expand them, but I often refuse because the work looks shoddy so I don’t wanna put my name on it. It is of course possible to do I just don’t like the way it looks.
Thank you so much! My son's dress pants also tore at the side pocket, seam open 1.5" fabric torn 1" parallel to seam toward back. Any advice? Again, many thanks
Boys really wear their clothing hard! If he’s young and growing, just buy a new pair of pants. Tears in this area, even when they’re repaired never stay so you can resew the seam but it’s just gonna bust again.
I recently had this done professionally. However, the fabric was terrible with showing old stitch holes. Any tips for getting rid of those old vertical stitch holes that parallel the new seam? Thanks!
A little but it definitely depends on the shape of the belly and the booty. I find that this alteration can help with pocket flaring on the sides though!

Love your videos no one is perfect. Glad you showed the importance of the waist band lining up. Great job

What do you do if your dress pants don't have that extra material at the seams? Do you have a video on that? Thanks
Thank you so much. Can you recommend a good book to compliment your videos. One that is good for men's suit pants , etc. thanks again. : )
Amazing how all videos have perfect examples. What happened when you don’t have any allowance to let out?

8:25 pm. How do I know how far down to start sewing to the seat
You never really do! Intuition and good fittings!
How to alter lines jacket sleeves

Steaming the fabric often helps with this issue
does letting the seat out relieve the pull in the front above the crotch
