  • This is the first installment in a series of videos about my recent cruise on American Eagle... the newest cruise ship from American Cruise Lines, and the first of 12 next-generation cruise ships from the line.
I spent 8 days on this brand-new "coastal catamaran" cruise ship... sailing along the coast of Maine and visiting Portland, Bangor, Bar Harbor, Rockland, Boothbay Harbor, Camden, and Bath. This video focuses specifically on Portland and Bangor... and later episodes will continue the story through the rest of the places we visited.
I am a licensed commercial drone pilot, and there are some incredible aerial video clips in this video, which were shot with my drone. You can tell from the lighthouse in the video's thumbnail that there are going to be lots of scenic lighthouses in this series of videos from Maine. That's the Portland Head light at Fort Williams Park in the thumbnail photo.
Also featured in the video is the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad, a time-lapse video of sailing down the Penobscot River and under the Penobscot Narrows Bridge, Stephen King's house in Bangor, pizza from the Portland Pie company, and the Paul Bunyan statue.
If you're interested in booking a cruise on American Cruise Lines, feel free to use the services of my travel agent, Caitlin Gallagher. She is a certified travel advisor for American Cruise Lines, and can help you make the right choice when choosing a cabin. She knows which cabins on the ship to recommend to you, to keep you from spending over $1000 too much on your cabin. Visit Caitlin's web site at www.ambrentravel.com/

I've never been on a cruise or river boat, and didnt gwt in my firat boat until I was 40.
I've been watching cruising channels for a couple years now teying to get over this irrational fear of open water I've always had.
Recently I thought maybe I could river cruise. And the algorithm Gods brought me to your channel.
I'd love to this exact river cruise for my first time.
This is such a quality preaentation. The pucture is ao cruap, your commentary is really educational and well thought out about the area.
    Well done.

      Just to clarify...
This particular cruise along the coast of Maine was not technically a river cruise. It was on a small cruise ship similar to what are used for river cruises, but the coast of Maine is part of the Atlantic Ocean. While this cruise did go in to one river in Maine at one point, I would call this a coastal cruise, not a river cruise. This cruise line, American Cruise Lines, does offer quite a few cruises that are strictly on rivers (for example, the Columbia River, the Mississippi River, several rivers in the Tennessee area) but this cruise in Maine was out in the open waters of the Atlantic a lot.

You're welcome! Next month I'll be publishing a video or two about another trip on the same ship, where we explore some of the cute little coastal towns between New York City and Boston.

Hi, Jim! It's Matt Burroughs. My wife and I were on your cruise to Maine. I'm the guy who liked to take pictures and have my own website. I gave you my card with the address of my website. We really enjoyed your video - it's very well done!

Paul Bunyan is a lumberjack who is famous for cutting down trees and there is a statue of him in this video of you on your recent 8 day cruise along the coast of Maine on American Eagle, the first of 12 next generation of cruise ships of American Cruise Lines!

I can't wait to see the videos of Icon of the Seas, the new next generation cruise ship of Royal Caribbean International for a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean including Royal Caribbean's private Island in the Bahamas known as Coco Cay in February of 2024!
This is Thomas Comeau signing off and saying Good night, Jim Zim!

Have you sailed, or do you plan to, on the American Jazz?

    • @JimZim

I haven't been on American Jazz, but I've sailed the Columbia & Snake Rivers on her sister, American Harmony. The two ships are nearly identical. If you do a search on my RUclips channel for American Harmony, you'll find some of the videos I did about that ship and that cruise.

My concern is how rough is the ride when the ship is sailing in the Atlantic Ocean

    Great video!!
How is the nightly entertainment on board the ship?

    • @JimZim
      @JimZim  8 месяцев назад

I enjoyed it. Of course, it doesn't compare to the kind of entertainment you get on a mega cruise ship... but it was comparable to the entertainment on other ACL cruises I've been on. If you've cruised with ACL before and you enjoyed the entertainment on those ships, I think you'll find the entertainment on American Eagle to be comparable.
