The View is the worst thing anybody that was ever on it did. Except for Norm Macdonald. He killed as usual. Watching his genius drive them crazy was/is pure hilarity. 🤣🤣🤣
Breaks my heart to see this beautiful talented woman who made the world laugh and cried, just threw her career completely out the window for a petty talk show! Like literally the view chew her up, than spit her out and turn her into this miserable and bitter person. 😔 She should have just stick to acting that’s where her heart was! Edit I didn’t know she was still movies! Maybe I was wrong maybe she can revive herself!
I still llike her for what she has done over her career. She's a comedian - just like Gilbert Godfrey or Dave Chapelle who observe the world and push the 'hot topic' button....I may not agree with her views on many things, but she's done some amazing things with her life🙂. I don't watch The View either, so there's that.

Jumpin' Jack Flash is a classic that has actually aged well. The computer screens are clunky (as the style of the time) but it's pretty much texting throughout, so it's not at all distracting. And even the storyline still works. Jack's trying to get the hell out of Eastern Europe and the Russians are after him... if anything watching that movie now makes it even more harrowing.
Whoopi getting on The View is about the equivalent of Arnold Schwarzenegger becoming Governor. They were both never the same once it happened, and it was all downhill from there. Their likability plummeted.
It's hard to believe her real name is "Karen Johnson".... But yeah she's an amazing actress I loved her in Ghost and Made in America which was underrated.

I saw it for the first time when it popped up on Disney Plus (my family is pretty Catholic so my mom wasn’t a huge fan of movies making fun. Jokes on her, I STILL go to church and I love when people crap on Catholicism. It’s an old religion and can handle it) I LOVED Sister Act, it was SO FUN! Did not like her boyfriend character, he sucked bad, she should have dumped him sooner
Jumpin Jack Flash is one of my favorite movies of all time.I'm also a Trekkie so there's that. I have been asking myself, since seeing her on The View, WTF happened to her. I think it's menopause.
Jumpin' Jack Flash may have bombed at the box office, but that movie was never NOT on TV throughout the late 80s and early 90s. If it wasn't on HBO, then the edited version was on another station. That movie's a classic! (Fatal Beauty is still my favorite Whoopi Goldberg movie though! That one is over-the-top 80s action-comedy gold!)
Whoopi has always been "problematic". She devised the "racist towards black people" black-face character and jokes that cancelled Ted Danson's career, for a while, in the mid-90s. He'd put himself in that ill-advised position to roast Whoopi. I'm still baffled that neither of them saw the folly in this. Still, Whoopi's always been willing to say the things and do the things that make others truly uncomfortable, so it wasn't surprising she planned the whole thing. She must have been spectacularly persuasive to get Ted Danson on board. Whoopi's brilliance lies in her ability to press the buttons of hypocrisy that dwell in the psyche of most human beings. The vast majority of the people calling for her head, currently, are those who've been bleating on and on about how ridiculous it is for people to be cancelled for their politics (Gina Carano, Dave Chappelle, J.K. Rowling, etc.), yet they've skittered out of the woodwork, like forest gnomes, to call for her head over a point-of-view that, while borderline ignorant, was neither intentionally malicious nor remotely racist. It's funny to witness everyone playing the "I'm offended" game, as though it really matters to them.
I used to really enjoy watching Whoopi in her movies, on Star Trek and her working with Robin Williams and Billy Crystal. But I can't take her on The View. She is only marginally more watchable than Joy Behar, the Queen of Evil.
Whoopi has always been one of my favourite comedic actress. While I liked her performance in "Ghost", maybe she should have won for "The Color Purple", since she gave a heartbreaking performance. 💔
so where did Goldberg come from? Did she think whoopi johnson sounded too trashy?? you only explained her first name but she invented the whole damn thing.

She has disappointed many. Including me. I don't care about her and her career these days. Not sure I ever can again.

She's one of those actors that is just too nice. It's impossible to hate her. I respect that she doesn't act like racism in cartoons back in the 1930s-1940s "didn't happen or are a serious matter now," but acknowledges that they are part of our history, despite being wrong then and now (if that makes any sense). She even wants Song of the South to be on home-media.

While I don't agree with what she said about Holocaust Nazis, I think punishing people like Whoopie (and, yes, Gina Carano) was the wrong thing to do. The lesson we're learning is that nobody should ever talk about certain topics ever, lest they risk their careers and their social status. I know it's a sensitive topic, but we need to be able to discuss sensitive topics without people losing their minds. And we need to be OK with someone occasionally getting it wrong. Why can't we just be adults and discuss and debate exactly what they may have gotten wrong instead of cancelling these people? We can't learn anything or move forward about a topic if all discussion is completely taboo.
