The Jpx 919 Forged 7-iron is 32 degrees loft. so they're not the same loft as ap2 at 34 degrees. Pitching wedge is 46 but it jumps from 41 degree 9 iron to 46 degree pitching wedge.
I played AP2’s for a full year = 100 rounds last year, a problem...I know. Now after going on a hunt through five sets of high end clubs I’ve landed on JPX919 Forged. Best sound, feel and most importantly accuracy by far of anything. I’m hyped down to a 5 handicap at a tour caliber course I play at called Pinetree CC in Kennesaw GA. Also, a friend of mine is the chief engineer for the new MP20’s that just came out at the Open (though not released to the public yet), could be I’m moving into a set of blades for next year 🤷🏻♂️Until then and maybe never, I’m locked on these JPX919 Forged ⛳️🐺 🔥
Originally irons were not made to be distance clubs they are made for precision but a lot has changed. If I can't get there with a 7i I use a 6i and I save my money for something else. Life is easy!
Love the music in the background..what is it? Please compare the 919s with your current irons the Ben Hogan ptx pros. Feel, forgiveness, distance etc. I’m thinking of getting the Hogan’s . Btw- I’m pretty sure the mizunos are stronger lofts than the titleist thus the difference in distance Thanks
I was recently fit and have been practicing for a few weeks at the range with my new Mizuno Hot Metal Pros with S300 120 Gram shafts. After some initial practice, and then a Gap Fitting session, further practice and then a few more tweaks to loft and lie, I ended up moving all the lofts and now have (PW = 47, 9 = 42, 8 = 37, 7 = 32, 6 = 28.5, 5 = 24) - stock was (45, 40, 35, 30, 26, 23). I also added the JPX 50 degree wedge which I bumped to 52 (I like this club but it was probably a mistake as I should have ordered the 52 Mizuno S18 as I have now subsequently ordered the S18 56 Degree 10 bounce wedge with a heavier S300 130 Gram shaft and the 120 Gram shaft now feels light in the 50). The Hot Metal Pros feel great - and by weakening the lofts of the shorter clubs by a few degrees I feel I have the best of both words of having shorter irons that fly 'normal' distances and then mid irons that are longer than traditional forged clubs - the as delivered 40 degree 9 iron was carrying 150 - now at 42 degrees it is 144 - and then every club after that is spaced 13 yards.I would highly recommend these new Hot Metal Pros to everyone of any handicap.
I've been playing 712 ap2 for years. Like you mentioned, I could use more distance. I'm contemplating between T200 vs 919 or 921 forged. What would you recommend 90 handicap? Thanks and love your channel.
Consistent 160-165 out of a 7 iron in non wind conditions is way more important than 175,172, and a random 184 out of the JPX, I’d take the ap2s any day of the week, I play Mizuno Mp-18 sc
I don't see anymore consistency in a 157 carry and a random164 yard carry. Compared to the 172 versus 184. Either way you're making a long putt. I've hit both and much prefer the feeling, consistency and smooth buttery feedback from the JPX 919 forged than the AP2. Would take mizuno any day of the week, matter of fact I did :)
Just had a fitting for new sticks....ended up with these and the ping i210s.....cant decide yet as I'll get my numbers next week on my actual final fitting. But boy the jpx 919 took me by surprise, brilliant irons.....just so torn
Just got my hs golfer kid the JPX919 Hotmetal irons but with graphite shafts! Gave her a lot more distance than the junk she had before, but boy they aren't cheap! 😬
i have the 919 forged irons ... i love them .. it wad the fitting that was it for me .. tryed so many shafts ... was the projekt x 5.5 og forged that was the best combo for me . hit the ball 12 yards further then my old nike vapor fly pro irons
With the lines starting to blur, should this be considered a blade, muscle back, cavity back, or some cross between them all. I would like a set of blades, so just wondering if the technology and asthetics are just doing away with the old look?
jpx919 are stronger lofted than AP2. Your club head increase by 1 club is because your new 7 iron is basically your old 6 iron, or close to it. Everything is a numbers game now a days....what changes are you making now that your 4 iron is basically going as far as your old 3 iron/hybrid?
The lofts aren't the same...bad info, bad test. You are going to gain distance with the stronger lofted 7 iron obviously, there's no reason for mis informing the public.
Got a set of these lately myself and i love them also. My 4th set of Mizuno irons. However they are still somewhat cranked i think 5 degree jumps from p to 7 and 4 degree jumps from 6 up. So still on the strong side. Matt love the Tour stand bag! will you me moving to or reviewing the new Mizuno RB ball? Interested in you thought there. Thanks
@@sactownjoey yep that's the it, I was a bit off. Either way they are cranked a bit. I've had my set for a few months now and like them even more and even though they are cranked somewhat I'm seeing no issues with distance control and spin which was my concern buying them. Got kbs c taper tour lite in them really happy with them.
@@bjarkebk3735 Wonderful experience. Loved the guy doing my fitting, he really took the time to listen to me, understand what my goals were and to find the best solutions. Ended up in the Hot Metal Pro irons, S18 wedges and a CLK 19 degree hybrid.
It’s not about hitting it farther_, is about consistency on spin and dispersion and gapping between clubs . If you hit your send wedge 105 yards, gap wedge 115 yards and you hit pw 145 then you got a big gap, that’s no Bueno amigo.
And you can blend a set if you like the Tour scoring clubs but need a little more distance/forgiveness in the longer irons. Mizuno will crank lofts + or - 2 degrees for all the irons to solve any gapping issues.
@MrShortGame Golf Did you hit a 3 iron (JPX919) ... It appears you stopped at the 4 iron ... I had to ask as I watched your other video on how to naiil the 3 iron! Great review!!
Surely the boron makes it harder not softer. Ap2s 7 iron 34°, Mizuno 32° so more distance. I have both sets, waiting to play the Mizunos soon. By the way it’s not Muzuno.
The faces are better than the ap2 but you're not telling your viewers about the 2 degrees between them which would account for 4-8 yards of that 10...I play the Mizuno 919 forget as well... BUT YOU'RE KINDA MISLEADING YOUR VIEWERS OR YOUR NOT AS INTO GOLF AND IT'S EQUIPMENT AS YOU CLAIM... SO WHICH ONE??

Kinjay21 is right. The Jpx919 Forged 7-iron is 32 degrees loft and the Ap2 is 34 degrees.
I hardly call it a jump at five degrees difference! Standard is four so nothing major .
@@tryNtryAGAIN You're right maybe I should have worded it better one degree is not really a jump maybe a hop

The true test is play 10 rounds and see if scores improve? Everyone loves hitting it longer but.....

I'm not a big fan of static loft. I think a better notion is dynamic loft. If the irons have the same trajectory, they are effectively the same loft.
Great review,if you had a choice between these,or the Ben hogan ptx, which was also a great review, which would you pick.
Cheers Paul Uk

Great irons. i have them in my bag as of today. cant wait to hit them. btw, what is an ideal angle of attack?
@MrShortGame Golf, how do the Mizuno 919 Forged irons compare to the Titleist AP2's when it comes to workabilty and shot-shaping?
Just bought these and the feel great, and are 10 yds farther too!
very nice clubs and great shaft selection, quite a difference from your old clubs in distance. Thanks for the review .. i'd be excited to 👍
Great Review! Isn’t the S300 shaft 130 grams?
Great review. Do you have your irons half inch short like you had the ap2?
These are standard length
Great video you can’t beat Mizuno irons they are the best
i use the the 919 forged picked up 15 yards .. and my hcp gone from 17.5 to 11.5 in 4 month
I have a set of ap2s, the feel good but man are they short

Four degree from 7 to 6 then three degree to 5 and 4. From 7-4 it goes 32, 28, 25, 22.

Ever heard of lofts... also the Titleists were much more consistent in the numbers
if i'm a mid-handicap golfer, should i go for mizuno jpx 919 forged or tour?
Brian Yong if I were you I would hit both and see which one works better for your swing, either one could work so test it out 👍

Golden Gate don’t have 3 iron in the Forged
i got the 3 iron in mmc version

Impressive numbers 👍
Nice smash factor!!!
Could I have your old Titleist irons? I will pay for shipping. 😎
Not the same lofts.
They are not players clubs but cavity backs obviously
Really slight sight cavity.. the tours look like CB's as well but they're not
your getting faster ball speeds with the mizunos.
Thank you
Were you sponsored for these clubs?
Was wondering the same thoughts as surely that would be disclosed but I would like it specifically mentioned.
They are delofted
Just buy some mp-5s and never look back
Wrong lofts are not the same
