    I never saw these and what a fantastic idea. The kids and I will have fun decorating them. They’ll need help with the folding n painting but otherwise....! They get so excited n so proud of showing you what they made that this will be the top.
    I so appreciate you taking the time to demo...I understand where Ashley gets her talent for arts and crafts.....

    Love these! I feel like this passed me by in the 60-70s. Glad to learn about it now.

      We made these when I was a kid in the early 70’s. I want to do these with my grandkids!

    If you turn an empty fairly deep cardboard box on its side you can use it as a spray paint box. You put the item far back in box and the back and sides of the box collect all the splatter. I made those trees too. They sat across the mantel. Now the kids make them for their rooms and use paper stickers of ornaments and stars.

      I never even considered stickers! I love that idea.

    I have always loved reading Reader's Digest! These are lovely. And I love that you are always frugal-minded. I relate to that so much.

    That is so clever and they turned out really cute! I would love to see a picture of where you put them when they were finished. I imagine they would look cute in a grouping on a shelf. Really an adorable craft!🎄❤🎄

    Hi Tami and happy Wednesday. Wow, this took me way back to the 1970's! We made these in school. This is an old school classic. These came out so pretty. Love it!! You did a great job. Merry Christmas! Sending Cali love. XOXO :)

    Do you think you could put 2 readers digest together for 1 tree to make it look fuller?

    • @TamiDunn
      @TamiDunn  3 года назад

      Sure! You would just need to use a glue gun and glue them together.

  • @judyharris2450

    What about gluing 2 of your stars on either side of a wire to make your tree topper.

    Awesome idea. Going to stop at the Dollar store to pick up crossword puzzle books to use for a buck instead of Reader's digest. My grandsons will love this tomorrow night. Thanks Tami. Merry Christmas month!! 🎅🤶🎄🎉🍾🎁🥳

    This is a cool idea, I had never heard of this before! I wonder if I could do it with a regular magazine, I don't get readers digest. I bet some little bows, small string beads, maybe large chunky glitter would all be fun decorations as well!

    In Sunday school we made these and added a styrofoam ball on top and angel wings to make 👼 angels! I don’t recall exact details but I may have to do this with our Reader’s Digest as it is a blast from the past. I have some copper-colored spray paint (purchased to repaint my Kitchen Aid that I’ve not done yet) and can use that. Thank you for sharing!

    • @TamiDunn
      @TamiDunn  5 лет назад

      I don't have it delivered. My dad went out of his way to collect these for me because he knew that I wanted to share this craft :)

      We use to use red hots, and the hard candy pieces which nobody liked anyway, sometimes raided the button jar and and sometimes mom would splurge and get a bottle of glitter. I loved the glitter.

    We used to make these many moons ago! We never cut the bottom angles off. We folded them under. I wonder if you would have folded them under instead of cutting them off if they would look fuller the whole way around the tree instead of the gaps?

    • @TamiDunn
      @TamiDunn  5 лет назад +1

      I tried it and they weren't any fuller. I think the magazines are much smaller from when I was younger.

    We did this in art class when I was in the 5th grade, in the late 80s. I think most of us brought a TV Guide from home. A shame TV guide has changed so much.
