As a Glendronach fan, I've been looking for the 18 year bottle for 2-3 years now, and finally saw it this morning in my local Total Wine ($219). I like the 15 year and the 21 year, but the 18 isn't really like either of those. It IS exactly like the Arran 18 year single malt (which is much less expensive). My recommendation is to give the Glendronach 18 a try, if you're as much a fan of that distillery as I am. But after that, if you like it, just save yourself $80 by buying Arran 18 year. And with Arran, not only do you get the natural color but non-chill filtered as well.
The 2020 and 2021 editions still contain a significant amount of older whisky, Glendronach stated that they would gradually "step down the age", so to avoid a too abrupt change in experience. Over time, it will contain more and more 18, but, they also need to take some care of the overall profile, so it will most likely always contain a mix of 18 and older. Depends how long they can hold on to the all-oloroso expression though.
Great Review. Rachel Barrie is one of my greatest treasure in our generation. Take over Glendronach, Benriach, Glenglassaugh from Billy Walker, it cannot goes wrong.
Another great video. Can't find the 18 on the shelf anywhere near me so I picked up the 12. It's pretty darn good. If the 18 were on the shelf, it would run around $180 down here.
Cheers hundy! …. The 12 has been a go to of mine for years, great stuff…. I forgot to mention in the video but if you can find the 15 your probably 80% the way there compared to the 18 at around $90? … another great bottle … anyway, enjoy bud!
just want to add to the conversation by saying that i got a 2022 bottling one myself and I am rather disappointed. the dram comes off with a little more heat than expected... and instead of the dark, broody stewed fruit note that I associate with Glendronach, I got more of a cherry note that reminds me of bourbon.
That’s too bad Clive …. Sucks when you pay out that much cash for a bottle and it doesn’t live up …. Give it a month or so now that it’s open …. Maybe it’ll open up a bit … fingers crossed. Cheers!
@@happyhourwhiskey hi hi, it's all good~ just putting my experience out there so people have more information to make their own purchase decision. thank you for your awesome review though ~
Hey kaliban! … that is true. I am big fan of whisky and especially single malt scotch. I can say I have never had a scotch that I thought was “disgusting” ….. maybe I have been lucky and/or I’m a fan of malted barley, water and yeast. In the end that’s all we are talking about, along with some barrel character imparted. Most of my videos are done from interest or excitement for a whisky and wanting share that with others. Cheers!
He's probably an "educated buyer" and ends up only buying the good stuff. When you do that, you may prefer one over the other, but it's hard to actually dislike a quality whisky... Like, there are some details about Glen Garioch 12 or Talisker 10 that I don't enjoy much, but saying I don't like those whiskies would be a stretch.

Big Arran fan … I have not be able to get my hands on a bottle of the 18 yet … it’s on the list. Cheers Brad!

Certainly keeping the tradition alive …. One of my favorite brands still, even after Billy moved on…. Cheers Benjamin!
Great review and it's now on my list of "to try". It's about $260-$300 here in Oz
Thanks Dan! … it’s a beauty …. Not cheap but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed … cheers!
Agreed it's fantastic drop Aussie I paid 200 bucks was around 250 but there was a little sale on !!! I have 21 but 18 is better agreed!!!🥃
Yes sir …. First world problems having to choose between the two … lol …. But I’ll take the 18 too… cheers!

@@happyhourwhiskey Thanks Paul and cheers to you as well. With that being said about the 15, I'll be picking up a bottle in the near future.
