    Beside the fact that sawing logs with some spikes to hold it in place for either rotary or linear blades has never been a secret, it's much safer to use a sled for this process rather than running the fixture between a fence and the blade.

    I was interested when he traced out the saw handle. Thought it was a nice idea to attach something to it. When he didn't clamp down pieces to use the router, I thought; to each his own. As I continued, I was impressed by how far back he was able to bend his index finger to keep it out of the way, then I realized...

    Well executed solution for squaring table saw sized logs. If you ever have your oak trees trimmed and seen what gets thrown away this will bring tears to your eyes !!

      Yup, The whole video was a waste of time watching.. wasted all that time making it and it was worthless as a tool and a jig.. Nothing was safe in that, and all the sawdust piled next to the saw, OSHA would have a field day in that shop..

      Also adjusting the fence while the blade is spinning. I always shut down the saw whenever I'm not feeding a piece of wood into it.

    Waste of time. Lightly nail a 1x4 against the side of the log and let it slide along the fence. Make one pass and you have a flat side to put against the table. Or clamp it to your table sled. Or use a vee block.
    It may have been ingenious to replicate the saw handle but this was a lot of extra work.

      You or I might utilize an adequate BandSaw with re~saw blade…a fun shop time designing the ‘sled’ to create the 1st right angle…..the only one you need. Am I visualizing this set-up accurately ?

    Buys lumber to make a fixture of Questionable use, to make mostly wood scraps and a few small pieces of Wet, square wood that will likely warp as it drys.
    Nice try, but not practical.

      Yeah, they DO make square 4X4 poles already milled people can buy, but if people get desperate for square firewood, they can always resort to cutting down and stealing speed limit sign posts. 😁

    Es más fácil hacer de un trozo de madera de 4x4" una guía acanalada 45° al centro, luego se pone encima el madero cilíndrico

    The Chinese reinvented the same thing people have used for decades? There are many ways to hold a log for cutting a flat side in the band saw.
