Kevin Costner Quits Yellowstone: Replace Him with Kurt Russell?

- Kevin Costner just announced on Instagram that he has quit Yellowstone for good and will not return for Season 5B. Seems like the rift between Costner and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan could not be mended. Will Paramount replace Costner with Kurt Russell or another actor? Or will the show kill John Dutton III offscreen?

Kevin Costner is dumb to announce this right before the release of his new film.
It's actually smart, now everybody knows about the movie and probably feels compelled to go see what it's about.
@@patrickweismann5005 Fair point. Risky, but I could see it working out in his favor if movie-goers like the idea of John Dutton more than they do the idea of Yellowstone having a proper ending.

Had this Horizon project on the back burner for 35+ yrs ,couldn’t he had waited to finish YS and then embark on the new project.

They're filming the Final episodes of the show right now. They'll spin a few of the character off into a new show but probably base it in Texas.
Kurt Russell is a good shout, as would be Sam Elliot! 🤔
Kurt Russell has much more range as an actor.

Reasons for Costner departure is due to scheduling. Nothing else, the rest were just rumours. I think the only way to exit John Dutton, is that he’s limo blows up or something like that. Cause it would take much to do that, but I can’t see anyone else playing John Dutton.

Screw Costner; Kurt Russell works - the story and the other characters can pull this off if the producers choose to allow them to run with the show. John Dutton could be played by anyone with the gravitas. Josh Lucas could do the job if they age him up a bit - want to kill off a character, get rid of Jamie. LOL…
