- It's new cover time : the Mute City theme from F-Zero on the SNES. Great game, great soundtrack and I'm , once again, surprised it's taken me all this time to get back to this soundtrack!
It's not an overly difficult tune to play, but the second and third harmonies for the lead melody are just plain crazy. It's almost off but somehow stays together and resolves well.
I didn't have a Super Nintendo back then but when my friend got one this was the first game we saw on it and our jaw dropped to the floor...MODE7. What was you first reaction to it ?

I can remember this was like a hammer in my head, i was playing it for the first in a supermarket (carrefour on saturday while py parents were making shopping :-) ). This was awesome, en I really needed a SNES :-) I finally got one few months after, with SF II ... The Mute City tune is awesome, and despite i prefer big blue, It reminds more F-Zero, as it was the first level music, and the one I was spending most of my time in the supermarket :-)

Let’s see... I had a Wii at the time, so seeing the map of Hyrule in MODE7 wasn’t exactly awe-inspiring, but I always thought it was a really cool effect. No other Zelda game really does that, now that I think about it... but I’ve grown to see how cool the tech is/felt to people, from Mario Kart, Mario RPG, and eventually F-Zero. Lots of really cool innovation back then.
I remember going in Tandy’s and seeing/hearing this running on the new Super Nintendo, I felt so jealous, I had an Amiga at the time but all I wanted now was a SNES. Got to play it at the end of the nineties, wicked game, wicked music, liked your cover 👍

It could just be my speakers but it seems that some of the bass notes are getting covered up or were not played? Not sure if they may have been out of the range of the instrument or the mix but other than that it's another great cover, F-Zero has such great music.
A curious thought hit me. Have you tried playing/practicing with a hammered dulcimer?
No. they're not easy to find here in Ireland and rather pricey . maybe one day
