    I've found your video while researching the web to purchase a 4x4 LED mat to hang it above my photo studio floor for those over the bench shoots. I've found the Cinflex AIR 4x4 700 from Cinelight to be very similar with this one you're showing from Aparo but in Bi-Color version only. Since I don't need the RGB feature for the type of the shoots I do, I might go with the Cineflex for the better price and no customs taxes since they are EU based as me. Thank's for the informative & detailed review, you've helped me to decide.

    I initially had the same feeling about silver skirts… I don’t own this light but on similar lights using a silver skirt on say a sit down interview where you’re using this as a top key, the silver skirt really helps dig into the eyes while still giving you the spill control of a skirt albeit not as well as using a flat black skirt… it’s nice to have both options.

      i was going to mention this. we both own the megacloths and the silver skirt really does alot of the work filling in deeper eye sockets. .

    For me, this ticks a LOT of boxes. But the biggest drawbacks are (from least to most):
    1. Color rendering
    2. Price. Currently $2870 USD on B&H and being that I am Canadian, dang. I'll keep waiting for the new Godox fs800r.
    3. It seems to require too much explanation for someone else to use it without damaging it. This means I can't rent it, or trust someone else to put it together, or pack it up if I am busy. I also can't trust that it will survive rentals. Which considering how many pro features it has, and the price point, is a shame.

    Happy New year Andrew, Here in the US the RGBWW version goes for $3,830.00 at B&H Photo. I found the Bi color version for $2,870.00 at B&H Photo.

      The pricing is ridiculously confusing with this product. $3,800 is for fast international shipping.
      I got so confused I had to ask Aparo.
      On their site it's $2954 USD excluding shipping and taxes, but around $3,800 with express delivery.
      I have seen $2,800 to $2,900 listings, and all the way up to $3,800 at B&H.
      All USD.
      The bi-colour with express delivery options is a very similar cost as the RGBWW with a slow delivery option. So it all gets confusing especially as the names are almost identical.

      @@gaffergear Very confusing. Thanks for the review.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  Месяц назад +2

      @RobertJohnPhotography If your in Australia it's even more confusing because the price difference between $2,900 and $3,800 is almost exactly the exchange rate. So I thought it was Australian Dollars being shown on some sites.

    I'd be quite wary of the longevity of Aparo products. I had one of their COB lights and it would reach almost halogen level temperatures due to insufficient cooling and its power supply blew up after a few months of light use.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  Месяц назад +5

      This light is a huge improvement over the last one that they sent me so it looks like they are heading in the right direction, but I definitely wouldn't be forgiving if I had your experience.
      Thanks for the heads up, I'll see how this unit holds up as I do intend to keep it.
      They definitely need to find further improvements if they hope to get any foothold in the professional market.

    interesting. very similar ballast to the intellytech mega 12, with a few differences, . but they also have the same clamp.. the one that doesnt fit around a combo stand column, its interesting seeing these companies include random hardware like the eyebolts, but with no additional hardware.

    Interesting. That pump looks identical to the latest product from Intellytech - their AirHalo Inflatable. (Which is round but otherwise similar)

    $3,199.00 on Amazon. Ouch. A lot of that is probably the rode case and what it cost to ship that kind of weight. Still, very useful light for the money. Seems like this is more of an investment light if you are going to do a lot of corporate work. Great review as always. Happy New Year, Andrew!
