I would definitely say to check out Station Eleven if you haven’t read it yet. It’s a post-apocalyptic dystopian set 20 years after a flu wipes out 99% of the population. It’s great if you like multiple timelines and seemingly unrelated characters/stories that slowly start to weave together and make sense by the end. The tv show adaptation is different but also amazing.
I picked up a book called The Runner A Postapocalyptic Tale at an anime convention a few years ago and ended up absolutely loving it. Basically this girl has inherited the job of a runner after her father disappeared two years ago and sets out to run to a tower to find an Oracle.
I liked Wool at the start but thought it fell apart by the third book. LOVED the Arc of the Scythe trilogy. My grandson put me onto it when he was about 15. He had a lot to say about why Utopian settings always end up being dystopian.
Love the Arc of the Scythe series, Wayward Pines series and the Silo series all! I will recommend Wolf by Wolf duology by Ryan Graudin. It's a YA Historical Fiction and Dystopia-series about what happened when Hitler won WW2. Beginning of synopsis: "The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule. To commemorate their Great Victory, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor’s Ball in Tokyo..."
Docile has been on my radar for a while, but hearing you say that you enjoyed it so much makes me even more excited to check it out! Loved all these recs, thanks for sharing 🤩 Sorrowland is a true genreblend, but there's definitely dystopia and horror in there, so I would loooove to hear your thoughts!!
Great list! Speaking of dystopias, have you heard of 'CronoRevolution'? It's a mind-bending tale set in a future where freedom is an illusion. Definitely worth checking out if you're into stories about resistance and survival!
My 3 favorite dystopian/post-apocalyptic books: Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank Earth Abides by George R. Stewart Riddley Walker by Russell Hoban (a difficult read due to the "devolved English" its written in, but once you get past the language...)
@@CoverswithCassidy I've had a look and birth yard doesn't seem to be a book that's really made it across to the UK so it's on my books-to-buy-in-Canada list for later this month ! 😁👌
I just finished the Outlier series (3 books) by Kate L Mary... If you haven't read them I recommend them! Book 1 is Outliers, book 2 is Uprising: A post-apocolyptic dystopian novel and book 3 is Retribution.
Wool, Scythe, and The Girl with All the Gifts sound good! Going to look up a few you mentioned at the end of the video also. The Wayward Pines trilogy is amazing 😍 Too bad the TV series was crap 😂 Thanks for all the recs!! 🌳
Also added Elder Race and The Recruitment! Obviously I need to read The Recruitment bc the synopsis says everyone is assigned the same birthday (November 1st) which is my birthday. Weirddd 😅
@@CoverswithCassidy I think the sci-fi elements are very approachable, which I need bc science makes me feel dumb lol. Definitely a quick read though 🙂
My fav dystopia series is The Timekeeper's Secret by iLana Markarov which I recommend! Its 10,000 Years After A Great Disaster, The Entire World And Its People Are Partially Made Up Of Metals, Mechanics, And Gears. This Paves Way To The Control And Cultivation Of The Most Powerful Energy In Existence, Time. A Timekeeper Overcoming Her Dark Past Attends The Gridwick Academy Of Timekeeping, A Place Filled With Mystery, Darkness, And Secrets Lurking Around Every Point In Time. Will Time Be Her Greatest Ally Or Will It Consume Her? Enjoy❤
@@CoverswithCassidy I tried challenger deep and game changer but they didn’t hit like Scythe did. I hated the Toll but I could be convinced to try Gleanings based off your recommendation
Thirteen and Altered Carbon, by Richard K. Morgan, are dark dystopias. However, there's a bit of graphic sex that is annoying and unnecessary. For older dystopias, you could try PKD's The Man Who Japed or Andre Norton's The Stars are Ours.
The books you mentioned in the video.. are they written down on a website? I’d like to look up the books mentioned without having to watch the video multiple times to get the names of each. Usually some info is is posted with the video description but all I see are links to your various websites.

I have heard that this might be too contemporary leaning for my liking sadly! but thank you for the rec!
Huge fan of dystopian books. Station Eleven has to be top of the list for me. Love Emily St John Mandel's writing style.

Oryx and Crake is GREAT!
Dystopian Novel : The End Of Silence by George Ernest
Have also loved several of these - adding a few more to my list!
I can also suggest "Prey World" by Alexander Merow. A very interesting dystopian novel series about a future New World Order tyranny
I loved The Girl with All The Gifts! I read it forever ago 😂 I also liked the movie!

Scythe is amazing I named my son Rowan from that book!
Such a solid name choice 🙌 have you read anything else from the author

Scythe sounds exactly like Logan's Run. Also if you liked The Girl With All The Gifts, you should read The Boy On The Bridge. Same author.
this is good to know thank you!
There was a novelization of Logan's Run years ago, but it's way different from the film.
1984,Brave new world,Fahrenheit 451
