    Awesome , the video update for windows is great to have by default.
    Man , that time stretch algo is trippy , can see quick sound design use cases with it.
    Huge thanks for the update videos you've put out through the years.

    What's cool about this new MPEG-4/Windows Media format rendering option is that "MPEG-4 video":
    - these videos can playback in browser. For example, when you give someone Mega link of the video - they can play it directly in browser. That's very useful for delivering test demos of the AV projects. It allows low size (we can pick video bitrate), lossless audio quality and browser playability. Just awesome stuff. Very cool

      If the could also add another secondary module, window or something for controlling realtime time stretching and pitch options without the need to open the item preferences I'll be living inside reaper for the rest of my life. Until then I will still be happy!

    • @IDDQDSound
      @IDDQDSound 2 года назад

      @@georgenext3030 that would be nice. Try shift 5 and 6 to stretch items by 6 percent, shift 7 & 8 to pitch up or down by cent and shift 9 and 0 to pitch up or down by semitone. That's a decent start.
      The media item properties window itself also can be docked and it'll automatically detect selected items and show you options which is nice :)

    Very helpful, as always, thanks! I have a proposal to make a database of similar videos with bookmarks of the individual functions and when we are in Reaper to be able to get help for each function at the moment and with video info. The plus will be that the new features will take their place next to the old ones (there may be a 'what's new' menu) and you won't have to watch all the videos so far to find one feature without leaving the program and distracts;)

    Fantastic video. Thank you. Related to video, what settings are you now using for rendering video and audio for RUclips? (Bitrate, framerate, video format, audio format and samplerate?)
    Secondly, do you still run your music projects at 48kHz, generally? I do, but have been thinking of running at 88200kHz or higher because of how well it improves the quality of time stretching / re-pitching. Actually, would be nice if they'd add the oversampling function to the per-sample pitching feature - I guess that would make life easier. :)

    Sorry for noob question: do the video features mean that we can now export videos at a smaller size? I remember exporting a 1 hour video and it was 20 GB...

    • @RussianPunchProductions
      @RussianPunchProductions 2 года назад +1

      File size is dependant on bitrate (data per second, Mbit/s) of the video. More Mbit/s = bigger file.
      20GB for a 1hr video is not uncommon with extremely high bitrates (or so called "lossless" video encoding where exported video might be even bigger in filesize than the source material :D ). I would investigate "how to set bitrate in REAPER video export".
      What I personally do is export super high quality video from my Editor (REAPER, Resolve, Premiere or whatever) with lossless audio (!) and then I encode it again with "Handbrake" video encoder, because it allows me to use very, very specific rendering settings. I especially REALLY love being able to set a "Quality Factor" - so it becomes less about a specific bitrate, but more about "overall percieved quality of video", so fileSize will depend on movement in the video, but at the same time, I know I will always get a very specific "quality" of the video.
      If you set a static bitrate, let's say 12Mbit/s, even still images will be using the full bitrate. "Quality Factor" decides much more dynamically how much bits per second to spend on a particular set of frames. :) Really cool stuff.
      Video encoding, oh what a rabbit hole it can be. :D
      :) Have a great day!

    • @TheREAPERBlog
      @TheREAPERBlog  2 года назад

      If you didn't have the full version of FFMPEG installed you probably exported with the MJPEG option which makes very big files.
      My exported videos are a little less than 1GB per 10 minutes at 1440p. This is on mac though.

    Ok ,
    I have a problem that appeared in the last 3 updates I would say
    , it doesn’t seems to make any sense
    It’s been 1 hour I try to render a track
    It’s passing through two hardware devices with reainsert
    I did a 1st version with no issue
    Then I had to change a volume in a track and now when I online render the master is bugging
    Ive tried everything
    Freeze all tracks
    Freeze all buses and erase tracks
    The export is bugging at the exact same moment although nothing is bugging in the tracks or buses
    Weird thing : the bug doesn’t show up when I only export let’s say 10 second before
    Ive try to freeze all buses in one master group then erase all the other tracks , the stereo mix doesn’t bug and bugs at the export
    Do somebody know what is going on ? Or if it’s a known issue in the last updates ?
    Hint : those kind of bugs are more likely to happen when a frozen track contain split sections
    Thanks in advance
