Breakfast was at Smithfields because you could get a pint at eight AM with your full English fry up. Retired and back in Edinburgh now but I have very fond memories of my time in the Smoke. 👍

Thankfully there are still (a few) places in or near central London that can give Terry's a run for their money, with toast and tea included. There's one near Holborn/Farringdon that springs to mind.

My wife lived in Hartlepool for a time many years ago so she’s probably familiar. She talks about going back to England for a visit some day so maybe I’ll get a chance to try the real thing. I've lived and worked near this place all my 62yrs and no it's not worth the hype. There's plenty of other cafes nearby where you can get a decent full English at half the price. With the old fashioned music and decor it's just a tourist pull, and for some locals that have got more money than sense lol

Edit: after reading the comments, I just want to add that I am going to be in London later this year and I am glad to see real prices - to get a realistic idea of what to expect. Yeah, 15.50 is a bomb, but hey its London, not Crewe. I usually stay at B&Bs in Bloomsbury and I see that many are now adding 12 or 15 quid for their fry up breakfast (for 2) and I was wondering if it was cheaper to go to a cafe. Now I know. Thanks. But quick question - my wife and I are small people (small, not "little") and with the stupid size of US portions, we generally split entrees. Generally it's no problem here, but I don't recall ever doing that in the UK where portions are realistic. But if we asked to split a breakfast that size, would we get the stink-eye? ("goddam Americans...")
I think if you wae in a cafe and you asked to split a breakfast they would look at you a bit funny!!! This particular breakfast was more expensive than what you're pay in most cafes ... even in london... but i would definitely leave the b&b and find a cafe for a proper fried breakfast.. theres a lot of good cafes in london... ill be reviewing more soon... cheeper ones !! This place is for tourists. and not worth the money, no local uses it. Years ago this was a butchers and the small cafe beside it. Then is was great, but now it's all fur coat and no knickers..

Problem with Terrys it’s hype. Decent breakfast for sure but isn’t a greasy spoon any longer. It’s the tourist trade.
